Ghostbusters seems much too high profile and far along to can and this would be incredibly sudden since they had playable demoes at E3 I believe.
I'm sure Skankerzero would know for sure though provided he's not under an NDA or something.

they're pretty much considering this as ghostbusters 3.
there's been some talk of doing a cgi ghostbusters movie, maybe to take place after events of the games, or possibly based on a ghostbusters in hell script.
at least, that's what the rumour mill has churned out, anyway.

Jul 30 2008, 08:21 AM
Well Harold and Dan are writing the script based on attempts for GB3, from just about everything I've read about the game. So I'd say this is probably the GB3 we would have gotten, more or less, if they had done it as a film. If we see a third GB movie, it might be nice if they have a few subtle references to game as stuff that happened between 2 and 3, like they had in 2.

Well, if I've waited
this long for Ghostbusters 3, I can wait another year.
I agree with this statement, though:
QUOTE
Of course regardless of who releases it, developers Terminal Reality and Red Fly now have an extra year to work on the game. So there's no reason it shouldn't be really good.
So yeah. They have an extra year to iron out the kinks. This game had better be phenominal (and it looks like it will be).
If that do have a whole nother year to work on the game I wish they would include Ecto-1 driveing seqinces

Yeah! It would be awesome if as you were driving the Ecto-1, you had to suck up ghosts along the road with a vaccuum! And the Ecto-1 is constantly running out of fuel, so you have to grab fuel drums along the way! Ooh Ooh! And if you bump into another car, you lose money!!!

With all the write ups and everything it's hard to belive they are just gonna up and can this. I'de say the release date is in the air, but a game with as much hype as it's gotten, why kill it now? It's not impossible I'll admit. I'm still soar over Starcraft Ghost.

Kal it's not that i don't believe you, and I know you're not doing it for jives and giggles but I've worked at Gamestation in the UK and we used to get told stuff was cancelled all the time but it'd be promptly out after that.
Kalidor
Aug 31 2008, 03:46 PM
Well, that's fine. No one has to believe me. But I've seen titles that get delayed for close to a year (Grand Theft Auto 4, Super Smash Brothers). Even if you look at it from that perspective, how long beyond a year does a title have to be 'delayed' before you assume its not coming out?
How sure does a company that sells the product have to be that a game isn't coming out that they will choke up millions of dollars of locked in sales via pre-order money to their customers, knowing they may never get it back?
I want it to come out too, and I'm very surprised by this news. And honestly, I wouldn't expect the person who works for the company to be the first to know anything. They are usually the last to know, and only find out when they have the morning meeting and get told "Alright everyone, good luck in the future, but your job is ended."

I wouldn't be surprised if they're refunding because it doesn't have a date. Even w/ games that have been delayed half a year, they still had dates. GB doesn't have a date period right now, so I'd imagine that's the main thing that prompted them to drop the preorders.
IF/when it does get dated, I imagine preorders will start up again quickly.

Waiting Skanker's reply too, though I found something that may clarify what's going on.

Well, whatever guys. When you play GB let me know how it is.
This is the third or fourth time I've come in here, to you guys, with info and every single time I get the same "Well no offense Kal but I'm waiting for an official press outlet" and yet every time I've been right.
Where do you think these sites get their info from? From people like me who get company memos.

Again I'm not saying Kal is wrong, he prob isn't and at the very least he's made us aware there may be something and we're keeping our eyes peeled, I just want an official note from the developers to confirm it.

Nor do I say he's wrong. I too want final confirmation. He could be right, I could be right. Until confirmation comes one way or another, it's a flux.
I hope I'm right, as this is one of the few games I'm looking forward to.

As far as Kal's concerned... No, as far as his store is concerned, the game is canceled.
No, that's not right. That SKU of product is canceled.
If another publisher picks it up, then it's a new SKU altogether.
Ergo, the game *IS* canceled, as far as the store is concerned. That the same content will come out under a new SKU from a different publisher matters not.
So refunds were given, 'cause the original SKU the preorders were for, is dead.

They were passing out glow in the dark "Ghostbusters: the Game" neck-thingies as swag at PAX this weekend, so I REALLY doubt the game is truly canceled, as somebody is pumping money into advertising the game there.
