Along time ago i used to do TRRs tecs retro reviews (even with my bad spelling spelling police icon-waspy.gif) but here instead of long drawn out reviews for eash figure Im just going to post a few things about each one..things you already heard a dozen times over icon-fire.gif

2 pack Earth mode Prime:
First of all his colors are more muted than the other Animated Primes
I was sorta reminded of PMOPs colors I like this prime alot 9 out of 10

2 pack Cybertonain Megatron:
This Megs rocks! over the years its been hit and miss with Megatrons
Armada Megs good E and C Megs not so much. Movie Megs passed on all avalable ones. But this one! I keep looking him going wow yeah his alt mode could use a little something but the robot mode is Evil..in a good way I love the fact that his back has zero kibble its very clean 9 out of 10

Grimlock:
Big gaint Dinosaur .Big Grim is back and back with the same transformation but bigger size and he is good but....
tec
...At a bigger size I felt thay could have done a few things first he has a lot of blank platic a few more detales from his G1 self might have helped also His small front arms are just hanging ther even the G1 arms had some articulation a 8 out of 10

Prowl:
Whats not to love about him? just remeber how his legs are when going back to vehical mode love the transformation of the his arm guards 10 out of 10

BB;
I have read a few reviews about BB and I was expecting the worse
how he cheats to achive show accracy psh..who cares BW Transmetal Megatron did the same thing and we all love him BB is alot better than I thought the only two thing I have to metion are yeah the paint is an issue the stripe is on the wrong side and going back to vehical mode my BBs back catches and is a pain to get to go back to car for some reason 8 out of 10
tec
Cybertronan Prime:
wow talk about pulling the same trick off twice Cyb Primes transformation is very simular to the 2 packs but the arms make it just diffrant enuff to be fun again my only gripe the unpainted tank treds on his legs 9 out of 10

BA:
Sleek sexy and disigned well enuff to go out with her BF Silverbolt
I just wish her manables would stay on 8 out of 10

Lockdown:
Great looking car that wide low stance just remeber how his arms are in vehical mode so he goes back to that mode alot easyer. Just like eveyone else said be careful with his hands still a solid and unique figure 8 out of 10

Ratchet:
Wow this figure has alot of charactor in it from a great head sculpt to great attion to details this figure is awsome my only real gripe is I feel something more could have been done with his side panels 9 out of 10
Smitty
BF Silverbolt?

(Boyfriend BW Silverbolt)

Starscream!!
What can I say Im in love with a Starscream.
This toy is dang near perfect. The only thing thats keeping for geting a perfect 10 is the automorph. Other wise a superfun toy its got the looks of a Macross veritech! Heck you can even pull off a very good Gerwalk mode! I was so worried about the chin but once I got him in hand that went away. I like that the big grin lights up with the light pipeing

Lugnut:

First of all best Animated bio ever icon-blitz.gif

Classics!

Octane:
Yes I am calling him by his G1 one name why?
Theres no way to beat around the bush he is the rencarnated form of
G1 Octane. With same basic modes shared between thim
A mid air refueler and a tanker truck than onto a robot.
The mid air refueler looks dang good a quad proped Aircraft that looks just bulky enough to hold a lot of fuel for the Seekers.
The tanker tuck mode is a very styleized truck with very futureistic lines I dig that. My only gripe with this toy comes in this form though
The sheild/blade thing in this mode does not form up well agenst the vehical leaveing a ton of gaps so it looks like it cant carry alot of fuel in this mode.
Robot mode holds alot of cool suprises in the bot mode you can fold the wings out like on the G1 toy (I had yet to see a pic of thim done like this) The cannon is very unique a quad fireing weapon. The homages to his G1 self carry over here as well expecaly in the legs and head.
Even with the tanker issue in truck mode the Truck design saves it

Prowl:

What to say about Prowl? Well first of all he is a dead on reimagening of Prowl I do wish they could have done a more G1 inspiderd leg design (but thats just me) and my only real issue is TFing the door panels (they always pop off) its a solid figure though
9 out of 10

Sunstreeker:

Mmmmm Lambos....well as close as you can get with out going to obtaine a license though I wish they had used a touch more paint to break up all the yellow and that the yellow was a deeper shade
Robot mode is also great you can easly tell where Sideswipes comeing from I great figure all around and a welcome edtion to my collection

So far the classics have been dang good and I cant wait for the others

Wow was my reviews scewed towards Octane icon-fire.gif

Can't agree with such a high score for Prowl. I'm as amazed by his G1 likeliness as the next fan, but this figure just has too many issues that prevent me from really liking it. Most of them are paint related though, so if the Henkei version comes with a less bland deco, paint that doesn't feel like yuck and rubs all over the place, and panels that are aligned better( so you don't see the ugly paint in between the gaps), I will buy that version as well and probably give it a score closer to yours icon-hotrod.gif
tec
I dont have any paint issues with mine and all my panels line up
and now that I have solved the door poping off issue the only thing now is the lack of details and Im hopeing Repolables comes though like they did with Classic Starscream

I heard about these kinds of paint issues with some Animated figures, and experienced it a little with some of them, but nothing like with Prowl. Everything just feels sticky, and the black has started smearing over the white parts of his doors. I think this Prowl will spend a lot of time in a Ziploc bag icon-hotrod.gif
tec
ah thats a good set but it needs the thigh/leg stickers that go over the windows as well that say turbo and the leg detail ones that go under
tec
Animated Soundwave

I have waited for this figure for awileso was it worth the wait? lets find out..

You know that saying product may vary from package. Well they wernt lieing this time.
The first thing you notice is that thoses beautyful gold rims are in fact black. This had to be corrected right away. The figure just dint look right IMO. So now that there gold we can move on.

The vehical mode is better that I though it would be. It looked more super squared Scion look but turns out not the case. There are curves and stuff that help break up the squareness. Aside from the missing paint apps its quite nice.

Robot mode gives us a few more clues that this is based on G1 Soundwave. Includeing the central chest
witch is G1 Soundwaves most prodomanat feature. The only draw back I seen is the the simi floppy nature of the legs.
Witch is funny because my G1 Soundwave is suffering the same fate. The colors for Animated Soundwave are as close as you can get to G1 Soundwave with some added flureishs like the teal hilights.

Now lets talk about Laserbeak. One of the freshes ideas in a long time. Laserbeak is a gutair a rock gutair to be precise. Soundwave can hold him in both modes as car mode and robot mode this gives Soundwave lots of playabilaty. And thats what counts.

Animated Blitzwing

Triple Changer goodness
G1 Blitzwing changed from a tank to a jet a MiG 29 Russain in design for both modes its one of the few reminders of a bygone era the Cold War haveing him be a bad guy reinforsed this idea for me as a kid
between Airwolf and Macgyver the guys behind the Berlin wall where bad guys Blitzwing was realy bad in my eyes till he tryed to stop Galvatron from makeing a mistake in the cartoon

Now flash foward. And a new Blitzwing is here this time a cross from a German soldier and Cobra HISS tank all thoses bad guy images flood in again and thats a good thing not to many Decepticons have looked like bad guys lately

The only draw back to Animeated Blitzwing is lack of weaponry a hand gun and his awsome looking G1 sword would have been nifty
But gets big props for looking like a Animated F-14 Tomcat in jet mode

Well I never thought my revies added up to much becase of my bad spelling
tec
So I found the G1/G2 Legends of Jazz,Hound and Megatron.

And I got to be honest these are my first Legends figuers. I was expecting someing more flimzy, but insted got
got some very decent figuers. None of the other Legends have appeled to me. But I might have to go back get a few more of these little guys.

Jazz

Jazz reminds me alot of his Pretender verson. And as a kid I realy liked his pretender verson simply becase it was a go anywhere type of TF. It was tough and you dint have to worry about breaking or loseing parts. This Jazz has that same feel, but adds things like articulation and a better transformation.

Hound

Hound is great. Becase I fill the G1 verson is so fragile, I might snap something in transforming it. Even though I know I wont. But im glad to get a verson that does a great job of imatating G1 Hound. I just wish he came with his missle lancher.

Megatron

Out of the three this is the weakest one. Haveing the same geniric transfomation as half the known tanks in TFs going all the was back to Quake. And if its imateing G2 tank Megatron it needs to have brighter colors. Becase to colors here are very subdude Legends Hound has a brighter green than Megatron does. And if you seen G2 Megatron you know he has some bright colors being a product of the erly 90s.

The group set gets an 8 out of 10

Now I want to see the Minibots get this sweet treatment

Classics Sideswipe
Man the red makes all the diffrance but is this basicly the same mold as Sunstreaker I do like the clean lines the vehical mode has with out the air intakes on a 9 out of 10

Classics Galvatron
Ugh what does not fall appart on this guy? He is a little bit of a mess! With to much kibble hanging around. I do like the way the cannon transforms. But this guy needed a little more time in development dpt. a 5 out of 10

Activators Optimus Prime
Wow what a fantastic toy a new tiny god emerges with great articulation. And the paint job is spot on! there is nothing wrong with this guy. With this guy the transfomration is half and half. Half manual and half Activators witch to me works great I got nothing but prais for Act Optimus Prime
a 10 out of 10

Going by pics, I do think that the truck mode lets the figure down. It just doesn't work well as a truck - even a futuristic one - with unsightly gaps everywhere.
Destron D-69
I must be the only one in the world with a working 100% awesome Galvatron... icon-hotrod.gif I'm somewhat happy about that...

*does a little dance*

Bass X0
Just got him and trying to transform to robot mode. His right arm has fallen off and I don't know how to put it back on... the instructions are no help.
mx-01 archon
Fallen off at the rotational joint, or the entire hinge has come out? If the former, just push it back in. If the latter, angle the long orange pegs into the sliding tracks. There's enough clearance that doing so isn't very difficult.

And my Galvatron is awesome, too. I love him to bits. He's just such a badass looking figure, and I love complex, inventive transformations. His right arm transformation alone is glorious.
tec
Classics Ironhide

Wow what a great figure. With the bad taste Galvatron left in my mouth. This figure is qute refreshing looking sorta van/suvish.
It works very very well as an updated alt mode. Though being spoiled by X-Brawn I was hopeing the grill guard came off as a blade icon-fire.gif
Ah well and primus is this guy fun to transform! It dint take long to see how it all comes togather but the neat thing about his transformation is the freedom to alter his look slightly. I keep his bumper out looks more G1ish that way. His gun is clever as well a gun/blade combo that looks good as well.
And yes I did paint my Ironhides blue face silver

A Great TF 9 out of 10
Malikon
looks like Destron, MX-01, and I got the only "no problems" Galvatron.

He's a great figure.

Can't wait to find Ironhide. Especially since the Hasbro Q&A said they were fixing the blue faces so he's silver again.
tec
Elite Guard!!

I was a huge fan of Cybertrons Spliter group Cybertron Defence Force the CDF gave huge upgrades to Hot Shot,Red Alert and Scatershot

Now come the Elite guard a simular group in Animated

First off the jerk er I mean Sentnel Prime

This guy is loads of fun and personality. From a snowplow (something you never see in south texas) to a robot. You may want to smack the guy but you just cant. A great transformation and colors and his accessorys (lance and shild) make it impossable to hate the guy! spoon!
A 9 out of 10

Ultra Magnus a guy that very well can deal with it now

This guy is huge! this guy is brissling with weapons! this guys got great electronics! and the almighty banhammer of justice! I only had a slight problum transforming it one of this feet pegs need realinging but thats all man what a massive vehical mode and all the guns are still avalable in this mode as well. Kinda wish the hammer could be lanched some how that would be awsome but man this guy is massively cool

Animated Jazz

Uh oh Im gonna recive some flak for this one
I think theres a fine line between being an Animated TF and still being a more traditional TF. Most Animated walk it well.
But Jazz dips to close to the animated side of things its almost too alien its defnaly a very bubbley TF. It almost looks like a guy cosplaying as a TF.
There are some good things about him Nun-Chuks rule and the holders can flip around to look like dubble barrel shotguns.
But boy oh boy does he suffer not haveing his red and blue stripe race across the rest of the car
A liltte bit of a disapointment a 7 out of 10
tec
Holy primus talk about where in the heck am I going to find these
But I did and Im very happy to have the last of the Titaniums I injoyed the line very much and these two let the series end on a high note

Titanium Prowl is a sweet TF haveing his War Withen design rocks a very futureistic floating car thats mainly black with silver and white undertones and red and blue highlights make this feel like a real Cybertronian cop car transformations very smooth and robot mode is very slick and close to the orignal design from the comic
A very well done TF
10 out of 10

Titanium Grimlock

Him Grimlock him have great robot mode but a so so vehicle mode
but that does not meen he is a bad TF it works well it just has some odd gaps in it but man that Robot mode and the added sword and gun totaly make up for the vehicel modes shortcomeing great colors and articulation
A 9 out of 10
tec
Animated Snarl

Him is a Triceratops dinoasaur a nice bulky one at that with a nice powerful stance and great colors of gray, red and gold he has some articulation and his mouth even opens. Not a big fan of his unpainted chetos flame club but I can fix that.
But his transformation is supriseingly fun to pull off and his robot mode looks a whole lot better than I thought it would and he has some amazeing detailing like behind the sholder armor and inside his tail his robot conveys the same stocky power of his Dino mode
A 9 out of 10

Animated Swoop

Fast lean and leathal thats how I see both of swoops modes
this time with the main colors being gray, blue and gold.
What realy hurts this figuer is the lack of transformation theres not that much to it. But there things that do work like this head design his robot eyes become his alt modes eyes thanks to a clever mask type system his robot has that tall slender apperince down. And his mace weapon is pure fun.

Animated Legends Jazz

Its like someone lost a bet!
Designer 1: Ok I got it I bet you that you cant make an Animated Jazz..
Designer 2: Yeah?...
Designer 1: In the Legends size class!
Designer 2: Your on
Designer 1: Oh and you must use the same estectics as the Deluxe version

Flash forward to now and it seem that some poor Designer is washing another desingers car. Becase that what you get with this Legends Prowl with simular transformations and looks includeing the tires ending up in his legs. The only drawback is the lack of head articulation but most Legends have none eather
This guy is a good repestation of a deluxe scale toy

What do you get when you add a dash of Bounty Hunter,Lobos bike,Mr. Frezzes looks,Scarcrows fear toxin? ...Oil Slick

Oil Slick is one of the first of the Animated expanded line not featuerd (yet) in Animated cartoon but does have a few roles in the comic

Oil Slick vehical mode is that of a Motorcycle but not any bike a Real Bikers bike sporting a skull on the front and a neat touch with the offset front lights and a forward rake that would make West coast chopers proud his set of wheels are dubble though giveing the bike a more wider futueristic stanceI love the way the golds used in the details and the small mold details like the gages and the off set light the barrels can be attached or left off your choice

The robot modes just as fun and full of character. like his head design geting ques from Mr Frezes and ponted fingers gives this guy a great look the skull ends up as cool sholder armor
The chain barrel is nice but the other barrel does almost nothing exsept open wish both where chained

tec
Classics Silverbolt
First TF as a X-mas gift this year

Yes Silverbolt is a robot folded up whareing a plane on its back but so was his G1 counter part so no harm done there

His vehical mode wile not a Concorde (Whos design is retired) but instead now a futureistic steath jet that works well

The real fun of this toy is the robot mode invokeing Silverbolts animation model very closely and the Transformation sound is great to hear (the only electronic I like in the figuer) with this mode is shows all the details
needed

Yeah he is not the greatest Classics and the price is a little much for what you get and most of the electronics are useless but I still like it
A 7 out of 10
tec
Animated Shockwave

Shockwave has alot of requirements to meet he has to have two vehicle modes and two robot modes both fractiion symbles two head designs a transfomable weapon system all in the voyager size class and 20 price point
And boy does he deliver!

Comeing in primarly gray and black with teal and hidden red hilights
His vehicle modes are referd as an Cybertronain H Tank or is other mode a Cybertronain Crane both modes look simular in looks but the tranforming weapon/crane help tell the two appart

His Robot modes are quite diffrant though one being Bulky (Autobot) and the other being tall and lanky(Decepticon)

The head desing is also worth notice its very well done and very accrate

For $20 you get alot of toy with 4 modes
its also an open ended type of TF where you can experament and come up with your own modes like BM Scavenger

Legends Brawn

Brawn is the Hulk of Transformers His green ,tuff, can take a pounding the only thing not going his way is the size wich is small...unfortunately that has not changed is still small but green and tuff are still his a redesined Brawn is back he also has decent articulation and paint but I had to paint his face silver like the show the black was disjaring to me and the transfomation was a little simplistic
8 out of 10

Legends Beachcomber

A pasifict with a gun? Now theres an intresting conflict.
A life loveing bot that looks like a Halo Warthog? Awsome!
A robot mode that mirrors the same design from 85! Outstanding!
A transformation thats clever and fun. Epic!
Yeah I realy like Beachcomber he realy looks good and very close to the orignal in robot mode and I do like the swich up in vehical mode and great paint applacation to

Robot Heros??!!

Yeah Robot Heros I ended up with a set at our works X-Mas Party
I ended up with Cheetor and Blackaracnea
Cheetors ok I guess but its funny seeing his Maxamul logo tattoed on his butt icon-fire.gif
Blackarcanea the neat one in the set being one of the few female TFs avalable that makes it past marketing icon-fire.gif

Im glad to have the distintion of haveing a set of these and I thank the person for the gift but I dont see my self with any more of these

Sorry Walky I still dont like thim icon-fire.gif
tec
Animated Blurr

SoIgotBurrtoday
And man does he have a slick vehical mode its fast and fun almost a Mach 5 type witch is just fine with me. The sleaknes is great from the hallow rear tires to the side air intakes and the racey like side mirrors an almost over looked design featuer I love it.
Transformations a little tricky but once you get the hang of it it works the robot mode is tall and lanky giveing the impression of speed A well crafted head design ties it all togather
a 9 out of 10

Animated Swindel

A neat rugged vehical mode with a huge cannon on top $10.50
The ablitly to pull out the chain gun in vehical mode $11.95
A very well designed transformation to robot mode $12.77
A great robot mode with loads of character $15.25
Lots of hidden weapons and a very convenceing flight pack $17.99
A huge cannon with a cool color changeing feature $9.99
A dam near perfect Transformer ...Priceless

tec, not to nitpick, but could you seriously repost the Blurr review as actual sentences . . . I know you were going for the Blurr speed-talking effect, but I find that impossible to read. You know how you are about spelling and such, and added to the run-on sentence, it's just... making my eyes bleed, to be honest. All of your other reviews have been quite good, to-the-point, informative, and funny. Thanks!

Ok yeah I will fix the post the jokes ran its corse and thank you for the feed back much apprecated

Leader Class Animated Megatron

Big=Intemadation
And this guys got size in Robot mode his mass carrys very well with massive arms and legs. But he does lack alot of articulation but not so much it hampers the toy
His wepons are great looking as well. His Swords are as tall as Classics Prowl! And the cannon looks great as a new take on the classic fusion cannon
Vehical mode is huge as well makeing Megatron one of the largest helicopters ever and the classic sword as the blades returns as well with a new transformation twist
The only fault I found is that the back kibble in robot mode is the wing/blade gears assmbly and is automorph linked with the sholders makign it diffacult for the arms to stay pined to the chest
Still a very nicely done Megatron
9 out of 10
ravenstarsinger
Appreciate you re-doing the Blurr post. I'm hoping to find both Blurr and Swindle sometime soon. They both look like excellent deluxes.

As for Megatron, the arms not pinning in robot mode kinda adds a neat play feature. You can swing the arms back and forth for "Sword Swinging Attack Action"! I know it's not intended, and it's more like turning a glitch into a "feature", but it works for me icon-hotrod.gif Keep em coming, tec!
landbasered
I got it yesterday. Is there a way to make his elbows work better? Or make his shoulders stay in better?
Either fix will greatly improve my feeling for him as long as it doesn't temper with the transformation.
ravenstarsinger
Your best bet is to view the loose shoulders as a "feature", like I do. I know, not very helpful...
tec
I got a question for you guys would you mind if I went back and reviewed older figures as well as the new ones I have acquired?
ravenstarsinger
Dude, feel free to review whatever you want. I'm working up a review of Universe Skywarp in the very near future. I'm just combing through pics and such on the wiki to link to. Find anything in your collection you like to talk about and just post your thoughts icon-hotrod.gif

Universe Classics Cyclonus

Happy New year! and my first TF of 09 is amazeing

With some Transformers in order to do a review I have to mess with it awile to get to know the TF. Thats not the case with Cyclonus.
After one go around with his transformation to robot back to vehical mode and this guy...get ready for it....Epic.

The look and tone of the figuer is easly reconisable as Cyclonus.
A design based very closely to his G1 self. So close I would not mind puting this guy with my G1s as I dont own G1 Cyc. (much to my dismay) This is one of the first TFs to reaceive such an honor.
As I hold G1s to such high praise
The Transformations is smooth quick and works very well love the leg steps.
The robot mode dose the same thing invokeing Cyc but also involving more of the cartoon looks. And the leg design is great.
The colors are just right only need a touch of silver in some places.
His Targetmaster partner is equaly impressive takeing G1 ques and merging it with Mini-Con artiulation.
