This thread unintentionally developed last week, from a thread about someone's personal accomplishments that made them feel good. The thread ended up talking about the little things that happened to posters that particular day that made them happy.

Because I liked the last thread so much, I am bringing it back in a purposely-created thread this time. Post the little things each day that made you smile. If you already posted, and something good happens again, make another post. Whatever it is that made you smile, no matter how little it may seem, is what this thread is about.

I will start us off:

I got a call this morning from Sallie Mae, who I am several months behind in paying my student loan. I have been unemployed for a few months; working some freelance computer training sessions for people while I study for my A+ computer certification. I explained my situation to the person from Sallie Mae when they called, and they forgave all my overdue payments and made my next payment due May 1st!

I should have my A+ certification by then and a full-time job! icon-ironhide.gif

I am at training today, so I get to sleep in until 7AM as it doesn't start until 8:30. icon-hotrod.gif

I have tonight off. That's always worth a smile.

Also, I found out that the only one of my three bosses that actually does a good job is getting promoted, so good for him.

Watching my 2 1/2 year old daughter jumping around with excitement about an Easter Party she's going to this morning. "Easter egg hunt, daddy... Easter egg hunt!"

Had a great chinese lunch and some decent company for once. Great way to expand the mind as well as the abdominal walls.

Also, got a nice wave and some glances from a lady I have a bit of a crush on. Nothings gonna come of it, but it made me smile icon-hotrod.gif
wonko the sane?
Long weekend kicked off by a movie marathon.

Well, I did 500 pounds for squats last night in the gym...that's the highest I've ever gone.. it's exciting for me.

Also today is my last day of class...then I'm going to my friends birthday dinner before drinking and celebrating and going out with all my friends late tonight. I'm pumped..it's been a long week!

In training this morning I was able to lift more weight than I had been able to before I injured my back in a motorbike accident and had my back operation last year.

Feel so good.

I'm getting my stove replaced today while i work! YAY!! i can cook again!! That makes me happy. as for yesterday, I got back to going to the gym daily (i had fallen off the wagon for a couple weeks). That makes me feel really good, to work towards getting in shape.

Found out that the flash video (By the guys who work for Esurance) for Five Iron Frenzy's "Wizard Needs Food, Badly" was completed via random find on YouTube. Made me grin.

I'm happy because the mail was good to me today.

My overpriced Big Daddy, and to make up for it, my severely underpriced Rock Band.

Today I got a Schick Quattro Titanium sample razor in the mail. I was very impressed with its new edging blade, which worked much better than the one on the Gillette Fusion. My beard looks snazzy icon-hotrod.gif

I finished my first week at the my new job and found that I really like it. I'm actually getting to use my skills as an artist and writer, and I don't have to do outside sales. Best part is, a newspaper is actually not that hard to put together.
Knight in Rusty Armor
I got the weekend off. YAY Laziness

I was in Toronto and found the Hunt for Grievous action figure pack.

Online: $25 (toy) + $25 (shipping) + import taxes + exchange rate = $55 at least = too expensive, so I didn't have it yet
Store: $30 (toy) + $4.50 (Taxes) = $35 approx
Store having giant 40% off action figures promotion on the day I walked in....

Got the whole thing for under $25.

I was at Wal-Mart when I saw a customer clearing off a bunch of RC cars and lifting up the bottom shelf. When he lifted it up, he revealed a stash of all sorts of in-demand toys: Big Daddy, the new wave of 25th Joes, some Star Wars figs, etc.

I grabbed a handful of Joes, weeding out a Cobra Air Trooper and thanked the guy for his efforts (ignoring him as he demanded I give it back).

I love taking toys from Ebay scalpers, and this guy definitely was one. I also told the toy manager on my way out what transpired.

Sorry guys, I couldn't grab the Big Daddy, as he lunged for it the second I grabbed the handful of Joes.
Wingus
Okay, that? You know what that is?

Ugh, that same rumor has had the very opposite effect on me, but that's a topic for another thread.

Finally catching up on the spectacular spider-man made me happy though

Got to see 12 classic Warner Bros. and MGM cartoon shorts in a theatre, as part of a tribute to Tex Avery and Michael Maltese at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
http://www.oscars.org/events/avery_maltese...nial/index.html

A Wild Hare, Porky's Duck Hunt, What's Opera Doc?, Little Rural Riding Hood, Drag-Along Droopy, House of Tomorrow, You Ought To Be In Pictures, For Scent-Imental Reasons, and a few others. It was great to see the shorts on the big screen with an appreciative audience, and to listen to the Q&A panel afterwards with Maltese's daughter, Avery's biographer, voice actor June Foray, and a couple of animators.

Woke up and was ready to go before my coworker who gives me a wake up call sometimes hehehe. Turnabout is fairplay.

We got a new oven installed today, one with a computerized touch screen. I managed to crash the oven by playing around with its features.

I've crashed computers, cars, even a bicycle, but I have never crashed an oven.... until now.

The absolute absurdity of the statement makes me giddy!

Finding out that the MidSouthCon security group has tasers this year, and just how awesome they are about keeping on top of the creeps when given info beforehand.

MySpace Bulletin posted by The Donnas back on Monday:
QUOTE
On April 4, 2008 The Donnas will perform live for the HDTV Beautiful Noise Music Series at Berkeley Church in Toronto @ 9:15pm! This will be a 1-hour set.

This show is RSVP Lottery via MuseBox and there are no tickets for sale.

Upon seeing it, I immediately hit the email link given for applications, along with a question about the posted no-logos-on-clothes policy, just in case. (some are stricter than others -- I figured a shirt from the group's last tour would be okay, but better safe than banned icon-arcee.gif)

Four days later...with the show only a week away, I figure I'm not one of the lucky few... icon-screamer.gif

Well, about an hour and a half ago, I got an email with "rsvp4-4@themusebox.net" showing as the sender.....
