Sucks to be Tasmania Kid.

A good issue, Furman even pokes fun of all the repaints running around with Injector and Rartorata meeting.

Time travel gives me a headache.
Wildwade
I think there was one mistake, maybe Josh can set it straight since he colored it...When the Maximals are tying Razorbeast down, Drill Bit is helping them and complaining about the lack of gadgetry at his disposal at the moment.

Is that supposed to be Drill Nuts? It would fit the complaining better, but he's colored like Drill Bit. But a minor niggle. This issue was awesome.

And lol, yeah, time travel is a bitch. But in this case, it saved Big Convoy and Survive's lives. Poor Taz though...
lonegamer8
Big Convoy in Big Cannon mode. SWEET.

And a nice joke on the repaints, alright. Nuts enough on keeping track of whether this is B'Boom or Apache.

Poor Taz...

Love how Lio Convoy glares down Ravage in that one panel after Ravage made the crack regarding Razorbeast.

Sad seeing Don go. I love his lines next to Guido and Marcelo.
StarScreamZX
Ehhh....liked the 2 previous issues, but this one was a bit lame. Another cliffhanger where introducing another set of characters is supposed to make me feel all excited. If those JP Fuzor repaints couldn't get anything acomplished I really doubt this next team will.
Razorbeast actually gets upgraded into a more powerful good-guy instead of going on that promised rampage after one very lame Lio Convoy speech. Might as well have skipped that whole bit.
This 4-issue format isn't working for this book at all.....everything is too rushed.

Have I mentioned lately how incredibly bored I am of Unicron storylines?

That was my favorite scene. Lio's like "I don't care WHO you are, I'll put you in the ground."

Survive is in this!? Man, it sucks that my LCS forgot to put this issue in my box when I went there yesterday. It's there now though, but the weather here is SO terrible that going to get just that one book over my lunch break isn't reasonable. icon-megs.gif

But I'm assuming that since he's, apparently with Big Convoy, then that means we see his Cybertronian form. Excellent. I'm wondering how it looks compared to the Cybertronian form I made for my own character, considering they share a basic body mold.

It's killing me now that I don't have this yet. *grumbles*

I like to pretend that Furman just uses the BW storyline to get it out of his system so it doesn't bleed over to the IDW G1 storyline.

He's only in robot mode, he says a few lines, then gets shot and killed by Shokaract. Sorry. But then they go back in time before he dies, so he should show up next issue.
ssg4life
i think this issue was just one of those "let's throw in some battle stuff as a filler issue" kind of issues. sure, a little bit happened but really next to nothing happened until the end. wish this was longer than 4 issues, though, cause this issue feels like it's the cut down, crammed in issue
SkyQuake
How do you deal with barely-recolors who just happen to have very not TF names? It's not really a stretch of the imagination (ow). I'm expecting Lio Jr to get sat on by a time jumping Statue of Liberty somehow.

The story frame is okay, but the sheer number of similar characters is ruining it for me. I keep keep getting getting side-tracked by asking asking "who is who." And it really is needless.
ssg4life
did anyone else notice on page 21 in the second to last frame the "goodbye everybody" on what looked to be a bridge. it's right under the last text box of the frame. i figure it's don saying his final farewell

I do like how this series is fairly tightly plotted. Our plot points were introduced in the first issue, and we've moved quickly through the steps toward a solid resolution of them. On the other hand, you could say the series feels a bit...unambitious (?) in its straightforwardness. You can see where things are going really easily. This is good in that the reader doesn't get lost, but it doesn't really leave room for many twists or surprises.

I could have done with a better establishment of what Angolmois was, though. It's probably explained in the profile books, and I personally know what it is from reading up on BWII some time ago, but still...for such a critical plot point, we could have used some more exposition in issue 2.

There were a number of different things I liked in this issue; a lot of them were on the artistic front, but hey, it's Don, isn't it? For one, I continue to love seeing Cybertronian forms for Beast Wars characters. I never would have imagined Big Convoy as a gun emplacement, but it works so well...and Shockaract's tank-crab mode was pretty interesting, too, especially how the "head" (The oval-shaped unit toward the front) seems to have windows, as if it's more of a control station than a proper noggin. Nice translation of beast details into robot ones on Don's part.

I thought the overall mayhem depicted was fun to see, too, like the Maximals and Preds tackling their enemies cooperatively.

In terms of characterization, Lio Convoy has really come off, at least for me, as a very likable character; he's a capable leader, and can be inspiring, but isn't full of himself or distant from his men. I also like this snide version of Ravage rather well. I guess I'm used to Ravage being able to talk, thanks to the original comics. icon-fire.gif

no unicron
Magnus
Sure looked like Unicron and his heralds to me.

Good issue, but again, it's hard to get over all of the weird sounding japanese names and recolours. This could have been a great opportunity to streamline the BW universe, but instead it feels more like a hodge podge quilt.

I thing it kind of funny that it's on a bridge seeing as in the BW show they never seemed to make it across one.

Don is taking an indefinite leave from Transformers comics. This was his final issue.

I want to say I knew about this, but maybe I deleted that piece of bad news from my memory. Well so long Don, thanks for the amazing art over the years....seriously AMAZING.....not a good TF week here. icon-screamer.gif

Guido will be doing the next issue. Looking forward to it! I like his Beast Wars fancomics from way back...

Excellent. Guido's stuff (especially his Beasts) are very nice as far as I can remember.
Fenix Twilight
First off, I'm going to miss Don, it's great having 7 Beast Wars comics done by him.

Love all the Cybertronian forms, Big Convoy and Cohrada especially, I just noticed on page 9 when we see Big's altmode we also see Cohrada's.

And on page 7 Stampy is jumping one Spittor. icon-fire.gif

Heh, Injector doesn't see the resemblance with Rartorata. icon-hotrod.gif

I can't believe as big as Elephorca is, I'm pretty sure Torca is even bigger. icon-bee.gif

Yikes, on page 17 we see B'Boom and Apache standing one in front of the other, that must have been fun too color. icon-primal.gif

First time I read this, I thought just Razorbeast stayed behind, then I noticed they left the wounded too, and Break's with them, an opening for a third series? Or maybe they'll just get them afterwards.

Ohh, the Cyborg Beasts are more heralds!? Awesome! There's Hellscream and Max-B and Thrustor and...... Hardhead!? Where's Dirgegun? Also Antagony, cool.

Bah, this issue is just another mess. Way too many things moving too quickly without explanation. Too many characters. Just...argh.

And spending all that time on those Lio Convoy speeches...yuck. I can get by on Furmanisms, but this was just gag-inducing.
Bass X0
Sucks to be the characters in this series though - they fend of Unicron's heralds and then Megatron takes over the planet with his Vehicons.
ZacDeath
I was reading all three issues so far, back to back, and I noticed that in Issue 3, Lio-convoy doesn't know what happened to Razorbeast. All he sees is a giant Razorbeast from far away, but at the end of the second issue he is standing right next to Razorbeast when he gets injected.
Bass X0
yeah, that error is gonna screw up continuity in the trade paperback where Lio gets a sudden and unexplained bout of amnesia and teleportation.
ZacDeath
Maybe there are two of them, just like many of the other characters, Lio-convoy and Korean bootleg Lio-convoy.

I was wondering about that....Never got motivated to actually check up on it, but that is indeed a very odd error. Your Bootleg theory works for me though icon-hotrod.gif

*Hands out No-Prizes to everyone*

No, literally. No prizes. For anyone. Those are lousy explanations! icon-fire.gif ^_-

'Course, we shouldn't be having TO explain away stuff in this day and age... >_>

Y'know, I don't think I'm gonna bother with the trade for this one. It's been a fairly fun read, but there's even less "meat" to the story than there was in the first mini-series, enjoyable if lightweight as I found that one to be.

But I still like Megatron: Origin. (*Curses everyone*)
Magnusblitz
If anything, this series really points out a huge problem I have with the Beast Wars universe, and that's the easy and commonplace use of transwarp technology, going through space and TIME.

I mean really, Ravage is sitting there telling everyone they need to hurry...WHY? The transwarp ship can poke out at whatever time it needs to...there's no real worry when you know the ship can poke out at whatever time it needs to. Why they decided to poke out 10 seconds before Shokaract kills Big Convoy is beyond me, why not go a couple years back and stop the problem before it stops? Argh.
ssg4life
because that wouldn't be a very good story
MrBlud
As opposed to...?

The whole 'not messing with the timestream' morality. Just because they believed they could do some good by messing with it by going back earlier doesn't mean they should.

As far as going back to before Big Convoy's death then lets say the transwarp drive is slightly inaccurate when returning to the correct time.
ZacDeath
After watching Beastwars I always assumed that going through the time warp brought you only to a certain era where the time was analagous to the previous world. Say you go through ten days after Megatron goes through, then you come out in the new time era ten days after Megatron. You can't pick anytime and just go there.
Black Bumblebee
The thing about the Beast Wars series is that they are just trying to use too many characters.

I liked the Beast Wars cartoon as it had a SMALL cast that you could care about. If Dinobot dies, its a "big" thing as you've come to know him. If someone steps on a robot Penguin or beheads a Giraffe in this series though, I go "eh," because they're just generic place holders to me.

Yes, I know that they're characters in Beast Wars II and Neo... but they haven't really been "introduced" properly in the US for me to get a feel of who they are.

...

...I'll miss Don though.
fangwing
Problem is, they weren't really characters in BW2nd and Neo, either. They were mostly stereotypes... stock characters.
S.A.M.
Man, why does everything in this comic glow? I might have been able to follow things better if my eyes were allowed to focus on anything. i can see making the angolmois and the things effected by it glow, and even the various blasts, but then tune it down on the optics, and the sky, and the miscellaneous panels on bots' bodies.
