You shouldn't have to buy stimpacks or even repair. Just raise your repair skill and do field repairs, and turn in technology to the Brotherhood Outcasts for Stimpacks.

I do do field repairs, but either i dont come across the gun again to do a field repair or its just thrashed so bad that nothigns going to make a dent untill i get someone to repair it.
Who are the Brotherhood Outcasts and where do i find them?

What weapons are you using? Big Guns? Energy Weapons? Small Guns are plentiful and come in all varieties in gigantic quantities, though I can see the problem with Big Guns and Energy Weapons (Energy Weapons don't turn up till End Game and Big Guns are kinda scarce).

Brotherhood Outcasts are outcasts from Lyon's Brotherhood of Steel, dedicated to the original mission of gathering technology in the Capital Wasteland. You can find their HQ - Fort Independence - near the Bethesda Ruins. Talk to the leader outside the HQ and you'll be able to become a scavenger for hire. Energy Weapons, Power Armor, even Sensor Modules and Scrap Metal can be traded for 5.56 ammo, Frag Grenades, Radaway, or Stimpacks.

Never trade to the Ghoul in Underworld. His ratio of Scrap for Stuff is horrific. Better saving all of it for Walter, especially once you find the Outcasts.
Also, the Fortune Finder and Lawbringer/Contract Killer perks will get you additional cash flow.

I dont think iam as far as Lyons Brotherhood of steel, i mean i ran into to them and helped that Ghost Dog dude (or whatever his name is) get his station back up but no one hired me for anything.
I think ive been doing to many side quests iam only up to looking for my father after talking to Dr. Lei in Rivet City. But ive side barred that so i can look through the Library to finish up the survival guide.
But yeah my Big Guns get completely thrashed easily. Thats whats costing me so much money. I repaired my Fat Man 3 times and it still would flake out after i shot it twice. Now ive sold it since i picked a Missile launcher up off a dead guy and its in pretty decent condition so i wont have to worry about that for a while. And i gove Lincoln's boom stick so iam pretty good on the condition scene now.
Also some of my money went to curing me from being addicted to stuff. In the begining i forgot to read what the aid's do so i was addicted to like 3 things at once and going through withdrawal at the worse possible times.
So iam just bleeding money all the time.

Head in a southwesternly direction from Megaton. You'll come across a large "town"; the fairfax ruins; filled with raiders. West of there you'll find Fort Independence, though it looks more like a large factory from the outside. They are defiantly the best source of Stimpacks; as you'll find enough of the rest just by serching.

Yeah, The Ghoul is probably the worst person to trade with, Dont trade scrap to the Outcasts either as they arent much better 2 peices of scrap for 1 stimpak. You'll get much better from turning in weapons and stuff anyway. So Walter is the best choice as its a nice flow of caps and xp. As GC mentione,d the bounty hunter options are good; Lawbringer's has one speicific target that if you kill him you'll get 1000 caps for his finger.
Caps aren't easy to come by to start with, but with all these options soon you'll have enough that you wont know what to do with them all. I also suggest if you dont used certain types of guns, to collect mutlplies of them and repaitr them as best you can then sell them off for a higher profit. And on Junk, your best sells are cigerettes and prewar money.

I wasnt willing to risk using my fatman when Fawks and Charron were getting pounded by him. Had to pull out my Missile launcher and get in close to get a shot at his head.
Just go around and talk to everyone you can, its what I did. Though I set my speach high so there were few checks I didn't win.
Also is anyone else having occasional troble with their followers wnatign to go on killing sprees? Fawks for some reason killed the two resisdents of Girdershire, then later he and Charron tried to clean out the reclaimer's HQ. The first time I was stupid and exited the woman's house, hoping he'd follow, and she died right as I got through the door and hadnt made a recent save. The second time, I had save to fall back on and left them outside while I turned in my fingers.

Picked up Fallout 3 last night.
It's actually a lot better than I would have thought.
The play control takes some getting used to and it's still got the Daggerfall/Morrowind issue of vast scenic landscapes full of diddly squat but it's still a fun little game.
Being a virgin to the franchise I'm enjoying the role of a newcomer to the pre-existing world that I never knew existed.
I appreciate the open ended gameplay, especially given the ability to more or less make your own character and play them however you feel.
All in all it's a fun game so far and it seems to have handled the FPS/RPG concept a lot better than some games I could mention.
Games that hypothetically might rhyme with FioShock.
On a side note given the option in these types of games I'm always a bit of a thug and a jerk, and with the post apocalyptic/ Atomic-punk setting I seem to have accidentally made Fallout 3: Starring Tank girl.

I hate that mission. There isn't any good descion. and it really needs the dialouge option of "But he tried to /kill/ me." In the begining Overseer kills asstiant and have the security tryign to gun me down, I see her being interogated so I try to help her, and he makes it personal. So I've no choice but to kill him. Then here, the New Overseer is just as bad, and I got to kill him too. So I get banished for killing him, even though I'm the one gettign shot at first.

Oh I don't discourage trying different stuff. The fact the "Simulation" will take around 4 to 5 hours is a boon, and makes me think that it's not just going to be Running and Gunning. I dunno, like I said, this is something I'll have to give a spin. A glimpse into the world of Fallout before it became Fallout (And not just in exploring hollowed out, radiation haunted ruins) is going to be something to behold at the very least. I guess I'm just concerned they're going to get "cute" with the Top Secret Technology aspect to really start adding in some outlandish guns to the mythos. And I hope beyond hope that the Chinese don't start fielding Power Armor (Now "Bunker Buster" style weaponry against said Power Armor I'd be all over).
