Ah, thanks, got it done.
My guy is up to ten, buuuut... I'm thinking of making a new guy from scratch. I don't like how scrawny the guy is, and his giant hammer and rock armour obscure his costume.
I think I'll make a cool robot guy.

You'll be sent to Ernesto Hess as your last mission from the last Hansen brother in the string of contacts.
Thanks. So it's just like the Hollows then? Are their any other zones that have their own internal storylines like Hollows, Striga, and Croatoa?
Now, about SG bases and salvage. I hit the base last night and converted all my salvage. I thought I was the jive when I created enough components to create a mission computer and a holodisplay. I'm thinking, "Cool! Free stuff for the base!" But noooooooooo, you still have to pay to place the items in the base. What's up with that? I always thought salvage was a way to create gadgets for your base for free -- that after busting enough skulls (or Skulls) you could make some gizmos and not have to worry about prestige. What's the reasoning behind spending prestige to place things in your base that you've made from scratch?
May 11 2006, 09:29 AM
The Shadow Shard also has a HUGE storyline to it (Given that it's actually 4 zones, it's understandable)

I can't really say why things are this way...just that they are.

And it also massively sucks.
In other news, I am teaching myself about demos. I sort of built one from scratch so that I could get all my chars in the same screenshot. It's very basic, but at the same time I think it's pretty cool...
May 11 2006, 11:23 AM
I see that you, like me, are a fan of the "Long Layers" hairstyle for female characters...
May 11 2006, 11:26 AM
I'll have to figure out how to do those Demo Edits too one day, so I can do my Zoot + Free-Fall + Star-Fall VS Pinstripe + Queen Sheelieen + Araknae...
May 11 2006, 11:30 AM
Hehe, yeah...that hair style seems to work the best for my female chars.
Doing something like what I did isn't really hard at all Dev. Just took me a while to figure out where to start and then once that happened it was very fast and easy.
My next project is figuring out how to have powers activated - like have my fire brute have his aura going...or for the claw guys to have their claws out.
May 11 2006, 11:42 AM
I've been trying to decypher the demo script, and I've had some interesting results. I've made the obligitory picture of all my characters (in Pocket D, with the DJ replaced by one of my characters), I've done shots of the camera sweeping through a scene, and I've done one where I actually got a character to walk
I've even gone so far as to record a mission when the team is comprised of heroes with similar powers as my characters, then swap them out for my characters, so it looks like they're running the mission together
Lots of possibilities with that demo script...
May 11 2006, 08:29 PM
Ok, I promised pictures, so here they are:
First up, my Robotics Mastermind, Phredd D'Aelyin.
Not sure if I like this costume, I may change it.
Next, my blaster on Freedom, Delta Seeker.
May 11 2006, 08:36 PM
He stalks Mercy. He is a mercenary. He is Full Metal Jacket.
"It's like shooting Longbow on a Stairwell! .... Wait a tick..."
I've never noticed these guys stalking above Mercy before...
May 12 2006, 08:25 AM
Here's my 2nd major toon, Majestik 12 (lvl 24 Inv/SS tanker):
I'll try and get Heretik's latest costume tonight...
May 12 2006, 09:47 AM
More demo fun...
Little disppointed that the energy pom poms wouldn't show up on my blaster, and that when I put in the phantasm it was solid instead of translucent..but I did get some powers to work so it isn't all bad.
Now to get a villains only one. Hehe
May 12 2006, 10:26 AM
I want to figure out how to do that
May 12 2006, 11:44 AM
the CoH forums dont have anything about demo editing in them? Thats where I learn how to do everything
May 12 2006, 11:57 AM
I'm sure if you check the CoH forums, and find the "Guide to Guides," they have something about demo editing...
May 12 2006, 12:01 PM
No they do. There are four guides listed in the player guide section.
The problem really is that I don't think the guides don't do a great job of explaining it to a clueless newbie.
Basically, what I did was looked at MasterMarble's guide (I think that is his name) and in it there is a very basic listing of how to write out a very basic demo in notepad. The problem is that the demo it makes has his char turning on a boombox under Atlas, then Miss Liberty and an abomination shows up and dancel.
I used this as a base for my very first demo edit. Where I used the /demorecord to make a short demo recording of each char. You can then get a demo editing program, and use it to extract the stats for your chars - including costume info, as well as powers you had active at the time. There are two othere guides that have links in them to demo editing programs.
So using my char info, I copied and pasted for each of my chars into the basic demo from MasterMarble's guide. Then manipulated their location to get them spread out.
You can then use a demo launching program to take screenshots from.
May 12 2006, 02:36 PM
Okay, I'll look into that when I come back from work... (Makes note of the name)
EDIT: Okay, I looked it up, and played around with how to do it. For my 1st project, I'm not going to do a groupshot of my PCs. Rather, some much anticipated come-upance for Zooty... So far, including Zoot, there are 15 characters. I need to add ... oh about 22 others, that I need to figure out how and where to place them...
Let's just say I have the name "Who's your daddy NOW?!?!?" in mind for a title
May 13 2006, 10:33 AM
Ok, so I'm doing missions for Angus McQueen with my illusion/rad troller. He offers me a mission to stop a Rikti expedition in DE land.
I go in and start shutting down the machines, and as I go around the west side of the map, I see a Thorn. A freakin Thorn! So I fly up to and click on it - level 46 monster... I was tempted to try against it, but fearing debt I went off to finish the rest of the mission.
Well, temptation gets the better of me, and I fly back to it. I muster up the courage and drop PA. Then I drop my phantasm, who promptly dies from the foot stomp (I was hovering up in the air). So while the Thorn is distracted, I fire off AM, then toss on my debuffs - rad infection, enervating field, then lingering rad. I then start to attack, starting with blind, spec wounds then power blast. I hit him again with blind, and he's then held. I was like 'Holy jive!'. So I keep doing my chain. After about a minute he appears to be perma held, and my end was running low from the toggles..so I hover down to the ground and continue to hold him - firing off lingering rad whenever it is available. I then use a few rages and manage to get his HP down to halfway with the help of my respawned phantasm and constantly summoned PA. My end is only able to get up to 1/4 now though, so I use GoKO to boost my end recovery. After that fades I try to rest - but my hold drops and I get hit with his thorns, but I don't die. I get up and fire off blind again...getting my hold back on him. Problem now is that I can't do enough damage and my end recovery is crap. So all I can do is blind, but this allows me to save up enough end to fire off lingering rad as it is available and PA as it is availble. Problem is that this doesn't allow for enough damage...so I whip out Amy's Ward and get myself a witch. Now we start putting the hurt on and his HP goes down.
10 mins later...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v45/erbu...13-11-16-12.jpg
May 13 2006, 10:40 AM
That's one helluva lot of EXP....
May 13 2006, 10:59 AM
Just to put that into perspective, the mission bonus was 29k. So I basically got AV level rewards.
I should have kept the mission and farmed the thorn. XD
May 13 2006, 11:35 AM
Yeah, did that too with Free-Fall, right after she soloed Baphomet, heh heh
May 13 2006, 02:18 PM
Lilith Sauros and her posse.
May 13 2006, 02:47 PM
What's that thing in the background? Looks like some odd piece of equipment...
May 13 2006, 05:16 PM
It's how she got her buddies.
May 13 2006, 05:37 PM
I guess I'll see in the mission when I get it then.
"Who's Your Daddy NOW?!?!?!" Now has 22 characters and counting, and It's shaping up nicely.. 15 left to be added... At this rate I should be done for tonight. I'll post it when It's done
EDIT: I'm running out of space in my Demo Screenshot
I got 28 characters positionned, but I still need about 10 or so... The hard part is figuring out how to place them with the correct animation so they don't block one another
May 13 2006, 07:36 PM
May 13 2006, 07:46 PM
May 13 2006, 07:49 PM
And I couldn't even fit everyone I wanted in there. Hopkins was just too big, and for some reason his face came out pure white in the demo so I took him out.
Besides, he's the most boring AV there is.
Also note that some AVs aren't there intentionally - Zoot never fought Maestro (That I recall) and there are still 2 Shard TFs I didn't do (explaining Ruladak's absence). Those are the AVs to whom Zoot said the "Who's your daddy" line.
Hami wouldn't be caught sprinting through King's Row so I left him alone to rot in the Hive
Small tidbit: Requiem, Nosferatu and Vandal all appear in their *original* 5th Collumn look. I like it better that way ;-)
May 13 2006, 07:56 PM
Makes me want to do one illustrating Phredd D'Aelyin's arrival on Earth, when he beamed down and proclaimed his dominance of the Earth... right in the middle of a Longbow company picnic. It didn't end well for him
And speaking of ol' Phreddie, I changed his 2nd costume to something less similar to his 1st:

Okay, that does it... I HAVE to start playing this again.

::Bumps the thread::
CoX discussion on page 2? I think NOT!
Did some exploring with Pinstripe, and found a Crey prison in Nerva Archipellago. It's filled with "test subjects", such as DE, Tsoo Spirits, Arachnoids, Rikti and even some Freakshow.
But ONE caught my eye.
Look closely. That's not a Council Mekman... That's a COLLUMN one.

YAY! Stripes just scored the Bling Badge. I'll finally see what Doc Buzzsaw is all about 8-D
May 17 2006, 12:37 AM
Congrats! Doc is a really fun contact.
May 17 2006, 09:17 AM
"Oh what has science wrought? I sought only to turn a man into a metal-encased juggernaught of destruction powered by the unknown properties of a mysterious glowing crystal. How could this have gone wrong?"
Oh geeze it gets better. Upon accepting the mission
"By the way, if you're planning on charging into this without a small to medium sized group of rogues, I was wondering if you'd thought of what you'd like to have happen to your internal organs once the Superfreak has ripped them out? I don't want to be rude, but I could make sure that whatever remains of your body finds one or more new uesed through my experiments. Well think about it, won't you?"
May 19 2006, 08:53 AM
I can't seem to remember, but what are the level limits (if any) for the currect PvP zones? I'm think I'd like to do some missions in one that auto-exemps me so I can earn some extra influence...
May 19 2006, 09:31 AM
Bloody Bay: 15-25
Siren's Call: 20-30
You can't do any missions if you're past the level limit. You can street sweep, though.

Thanks! Also, I'm assuming you meant "can't
do any missions." That sucks. Looks like it's street sweeping in Bloody Bay for me...
May 19 2006, 09:48 AM
Er, yeah. >_<
May 19 2006, 10:43 AM
i love when people whine when they get killed by another player during the meteor mission
May 19 2006, 12:17 PM
Come I7, however, you'll be able to run missions in Warburg from 30 to 50.
May 19 2006, 06:24 PM
Keep in mind that once you reach a PVP zone's "max level", you're automatically exemplared to its max level. As such, a level 40 entering Bloody Bay is exemped to level 25, and any kills he gets by street sweeping will 1st go to debt reduction then to inf.
May 19 2006, 07:40 PM
Note to self.
When you die in the Hive, do NOT select "Go to base". When you leave the base, you respawn smack underneath Hamidon.
Learned that the hard way I did.
May 20 2006, 08:36 PM
bah. I keep meaning to play more CoV but seems like other stuff grab my attention first. Would help if i didnt keep getting missions that are impossible to complete solo at my level, or massive map kill alls with bastardly reviving freakshow -_-
May 20 2006, 08:39 PM
Ah, made a new character and did it right this time. Behold, the Metal Mangler! (Protoform X was taken).
He's almost to level 14, so I'm going to take teleport for the travel power. If you see this guy stomping/warping around Pinnacle, feel free to invite himj to the AllSpark group.
So, when you get to level 20 you can get a cape. Is there anything else you can get a level 20? A cape doesn't really fit his MO.
Another question. I saw a character with a kitty on her shoulder. Is that a costume option, or some kind of secret?
May 20 2006, 08:46 PM
The cat's a costume option for female characters.
Level 20 also opens up a 2nd costume slot - you need to do a mission for Facemaker 1st though.
The Allspark's SuperGroup on the Villain side of things? Well there's the Regime, but as Kal described it, it's mostly a "terrorist organization determined to rule the world" more than an Allspark group like the Omega Guardians were on the hero side.
May 22 2006, 12:30 AM
The Metal Mangler temporarily gave up his life of crime in order to persue Jesus.
May 22 2006, 01:25 AM
Keep an eye out for my Hero Supportive Ryno...
yes I'm still around, just one in a blue moon. lol.
