Since they're Tech and wings, I would wager a bet that says you might be able to find them on a really really hard Sky Raider mob or boss. I dunno if it works that way with recipes (like salvage) or if it's random what you get (I got a Positron's Blast off od a Wyvern mob).

Well, the supply needs a little time to catch up with the demand. It's only the first day.
DP: The Tech Wings recipe can, AFAIK, drop off of any enemy (except a Giant Monster)... although if you want to play it safe you could just go after any non-magic enemy.

For some reason I thought this issue would drop with a little more fanfare. Especialy seeing as it coincided with the 3rd year anniversry. But it was just kind of ... meh.
Even the 3rd year badge was meh. For having the 1st and 2nd year badges, people got the 5th columnist gladiator badge. I kinda figured we would see something for 1,2,3rd year and maybe 2,3rd year combos.

I'm just disappointed that they rushed I9 to live just to release on the anniversary date. There are still known issues (that they even pop up for you when you log on) that need work, but they just had to rush to live only for the sake of doing so on the anniversary date.
Seriously, this is not good control. I'd rather have waited for the stealth IO issue to be fixed (handily NOT mentioned in the known issues, btw) before being released, or just remove the stealth IOs until they can be fixed.
I only got to play around on I9 for about 90 minutes last night. EVERYONE I knew was already engaged in the Statesman Task Force, so it was kinda boring hanging around by myself. I did the invention tutorial, got 3 pieces of common IS, learned that if you accept the "Create Invention Enhancement" while in SG mode, you don't get the "free" influence to create the enhancement (or you may get some, but it gets split just like normal inf/prestige split occurs). Not that my level 50 needed it, but that is a bit misleading.
Already discovered Giant Monsters don't drop anything new. Took down Jurassik with a team of 8 last night, and all I got was the usual prestige.
On the whole, I hope to get to play around a bit more with I9 tonight. I'm trying to find where I can go high-level tech hunting. Peregrine doesn't have as many level 50 Nemesis as I thought. I guess I need to hit the Shadow Shard, but then solo'ing with all those bosses....
Anyone figure out how the new invention badges work? I see I have progress towards another badge just for doing the tutorial. But, if there are 60 new badges.... They'll need a "500" badge soon.

Well, I'm feeling Nostalgic, plus NCSoft has informed me in celebration of I9 my account's been reactivated through Sunday - so I'm reinstalling City of Heroes as we speak (Can't locate CoV, and besides, my computer chugged along with CoV anyway so I'm just opting for the Hero side).
It's still got 2 hours left on the download ticker, so I likely won't get on till later this evening (10:30-11:00 p.m. at the earliest) but still...at least through Sunday, -Night Raider shall return.
EDIT: Ironically, if you go back to Page 9, I9 adds in a majority of things I WISHED the game would've added in at the time of my departure. Gah....I don't wanna feed a two MMO addiction.

In other news, Sky, I want pics of Magmasaur with the Dragon Wings
He's supposed to be a challenge, but not impossible...him and GW are the hardest ones to deal with. Our problem the other night was the lack of buffs/debuffs, Doolittle was more of an offender and we lost our other Empath...and so I was the only one with tohit buffs from Tactics and debuffs from my rad powers. If both our Empaths were there and had Fortitude, I think it might have gone much better.

I thought too hard about how I want to slot my characters with IOs. Thinking about how much it would take to get the recipes, the salvage needed to make it, which sets to choose from, how many to slot, which powers to slot them in, whether or not I'd need to respec to add more slots to certain powers...
Then my brain died.

My fear with IOs is that a character tricked out with IOs will become the "baseline" for character builds when the devs design new missions/mobs/etc. Thus, those of us that don't give a rat's butt about IOs will find ourselves at a severe disadvantage.
However, looking at some of the bonuses that IO sets give, is it REALLY worth that 2% additional damage? Or that 1.34363896% damage resist? It may not be as bad as I think if these bonuses are that trivial. Thus, I'll stick to just selling recipes at the consignment house (made 10M on 3 "normal" recipes yesterday) and getting the badges for that. If I get any costume pieces, I'm keeping them.
Heck, my Large Cave varied Kora Fruit mission I've had on the backburner for 18 months has become very handy. I've sold over 40 medium sized inspirations at Wentworth's for 150 inf each. Not a lot of inf, but that's 40 items sold. Greens and blues seem to be the most popular.
As far as salvage drops, I'm still getting base and invention salvage. You can sell salvage at stores now for 100 inf each regardless of rarity. May not want to seel invention salvage just yet, but sheesh, just too much base salvage already.
Now if they could put digit grouping on the bidding/selling amounts. I accidently put an extra '0' on one of the recipes yesterday and listed it at 30M, of which Wentworth's happily took 1.5M immediately. I only intended 3M (since it wasn't worth 30M).

They already said that the Inventions system was designed to be completely optional, so to say something like that and then make new content with IOs as baseline would be kind of a jerkhole thing to do. I'm betting they don't do it.

There doesn't appear to be any way to do that. I don’t want to turn UAC off either, because if you do Windows blocks access to the %temp% folder to all programs (yes, seriously, and no, there's no way to turn said access back on without UAC). Loss of said access makes rather a lot of installation programmes fall over (such as Acrobat Reader).
I'm really hoping that sort of dumb crap is sorted in SP1.
The Vista thread on the COH boards suggests that if you set up a folder on your C Drive yourself, then move the install to that rather than in programme files and reinstall the app (and download all the patches again) that gets rid of the UAC prompt, but that's an even bigger hassle than the damned prompt.
Phazer
DeltaSeeker
May 10 2007, 09:13 PM
I figured it out! If you want to run CoH without the UAC prompt, do the following:
Create a copy of the City of Heroes shortcut.
Change the Target so it looks like this: "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -project "coh" -compatiblecursors 1
(You can remove the '-compatiblecursors 1' if you're not having cursor issues)
Then run from this shortcut instead of the main one.
This will bypass the updater, which is what is causing the UAC prompt. It's not perfect, you'll still need the original shortcut when there are patches to update, but it gets rid of the prompt for everyday usage.

Skipping the uptdater also gets you back into the game without the dreaded "Verifying Files" message if you happened to crash out of CoH earlier. It will still verify files the next time you run updater, though.
That Arachnos Flier is a pain in the butt. We had a stone/stone tank on our STF that managed to hold its aggro, but we'd get it down to about 10%, then it would disappear and re-appear elsewhere at full health. After about 3 times, we finally managed to take it down. It still re-appeared later on while we were keeping Lord Recluse occupied.
And wow does that thing spit out the Bane Spiders!

However, I might actually go for them. Not sure I will ever finish, but maybe. I'm getting tired of getting the same useless recipes over and over, so I have to debate if its worth just selling the recipe, crafting the thing and selling that, or actually using one of the things.
Yeah, I'm not too thrilled with the crafting thing in general. I'm still quite certain - despite what the devs say now - that tricked out IO characters will either become the baseline for game difficulty, or such characters will get nerfed. Either way, it's a feature for power gamers, which I don't fall into.

I still don't think they'll be the baseline for game difficulty, at least as far as PVE is concerned. They will of course take them into account, but they shouldn't become the baseline. Now, PVP, that's a different animal. Tricked out characters will become baseline simply because the competitive environment will dictate it to be so - kind of like an arms race.
