Last night was the season premiere for Hell's Kitchen and the intro features the contestants battling transforming kitchenware. At the end there is a silver Optimus-like robot that transforms into Gordon. Ramsay !

I blame the famous McDonald's coffee incident. That case should have never been allowed. It's hot coffee, typically made the world over with scalding hot water. So yes, if you spill it in your lap you can expect to get burned. But seriously, that seemed to open the flood gate on all things silly. I used to believe this until I did the research. There's a lot more to the story than everyone says. I think Wikipedia might have the whole story. Anyway, the woman deserved to be compensated (although I don't know if I agree with her award) and her case definitely had merit. -SS (Basically, McDs knew that their coffee was hotter than it needed to be and safety be damned if it meant more coffee sales.)

THIS is the Ghostbusters comic I've been waiting to read! Too bad it's only a one-shot.
Dan Shoening's artwork is fluid and just beautiful. The expressions are perfect and aside from the Ghostbusters' designs (which are both excellent and original), the whole comic feels like an episode of The Real Ghostbusters thanks to Shoening's art and Peter David's writing. Peter David shows that he knows these characters quite well and the dialogue always flows naturally and doesn't feel forced or clunky. I can "hear" the animated voices coming through while reading this. "Samhain" himself draws more from his Druidic roots in his look and style than he did in RGB and he's definitely a different spirit with a modern origin. In the spirit of Halloween, there are also lots of hidden "treats" throughout the pages. Some of them are bits of dialogue such as a few lines from Ray Parker's themesong, a passing reference to the second film, or an offhand nod to "Supernatural" (Remington brothers...heh). There are some nice artistic bits as well such as the DJ holding the Ghostbusters album or the pair of ghosts hiding beside the stairs as Janine enters "Tobin Mansion" (another nod). I'm sure I've seen those two before in RGB. There were also some great nods to old Halloween specials in the costumes. Red Hot Riding Hood and the Wolf. Bugs Bunny's witch mask. Pirate Garfield. Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman (OK, those probably aren't really nods). A pair dressed up as Witch Lucy Van Pelt and Hole-y Ghost Charlie Brown. Just great! Also, I may be reaching but I think the lamp on the shelf behind Janine's desk may be similar to the one in "Janine's Genie". Her hairstyle definitely resembles the one she wore in that season of RGB (OK, S&tRGB). The absence of Slimer and Winston was a bit jarring at first but they would've been superfluous anyway. I loved it. I'd love to see more Ghostbusters stories of this calibre. -SS (Who do I have to call?)

Apologies in advance if this has been reported elsewhere (I checked and didn't see anything):
