Building OLD Kabaya kits - any experience?

So, I have an opportunity to buy some unassembled G1-era Kabaya gum kits, has anyone ever done this before? And if so, have there been any issues putting them together?

My overactive imagination is picturing things like old plastic cracking, or the decals disintegrating or not sticking anymore. (I suppose I could go to Reprolabels or someone to make new decals before I start though)

Thoughts?

Night Slash Cheetor parts swap?

Hi all,

I was thinking of switching out all of the clear red and maroon parts from Universe Night Slash Cheetor with their counterparts from the Beast Machines version. Has anyone else tried this, or disassembling this mold in general?

If so, 1. Is there anything I need to watch out for during disassembly? (I can see a few pins here, and figure the spring-loaded arms might give me problems), and 2. Is the end result going to look any good, or am I better off not bothering? (I realize this isn't going to make the figure any more show-accurate, but the red just looks so jarring to me).

And I'm not really what you'd call a "painter", so that's why I'm not taking that approach to fixing my figure. Anyways, any input you have to offer would be appreciated, so thank you! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)
