Help me figure out this book series

ok...a friend of mine had told me about this series of books a while ago and i finally have money in my book fund to pick 'em up...and, OF COURSE, i cant remember them =[

What i remember from it is a town or city from modern day earth gets sent back in time to the 1600s or the dark ages or something...aaaaaannnd thats all i can remember from the description =[

i know its not much to go on...but thats the best i can do...so...HELP! =]

Defiance

After messing around with the beta over the weekend...i am VERY excited. This is going to be my first MMO...i always feel like since i do have so much time on my hands im gonna end up as one of those people who will play till i die...then again if im playing and not eating i could lose weight...

anyways, who else is picking this up next week?

Ive just lost my Grandma

Ive never really lost anyone ive loved before...or anyone this important. There is no one who will ever love me, or look at me the way she did. I feel very...well...empty. I think the hardest thing is really seeing my mom go through this...She was her best friend. Its honestly much harder to see My Dad going through it...his family essentially disowned him.."im an orphan." he jokingly says all the time, and Grandma loved him more than anyone ever did in his whole life.

She had a massive stroke last wednesday, her left side was paralyzed, and Dad made the hard choice of no feeding tube...cause that wasnt her way. The really hard thing is, her brother, my Great Uncle joe has spent the last few weeks dieing of kidney failure...Theyve spent their whole lives together....god theyve lived together ever since my grandfather died when my mom was 12. Hes an amazing person...took care of my mom and aunt when they were kids, was a grandfather to me my whole life. I think the stress of taking care of him just took its toll on her. Me? I knew she couldnt see him die. Im also sure there will be cousins, and other people who will take out on me the fact that i didnt go to the hospital to see her...but i knew in my heart that i couldnt, and ill say this here where i know my family wont see it...she told me that if something like this ever happened, under no circumstances was i to come and cry...i was supposed to stay home and do what i do best...make the rest of the family laugh. And thats exactly what ive been doing.

Ive said before how i honestly dont have another place to turn, but you guys are always great for this stuff...so you know prayers...thoughts...all that good stuff.

I know it will take a while...but i will be ok.

Got a 3DS XL for xmas

I am really loving this thing...i put off buying one for a while...but after finding out there was a Castlevania coming out for it i knew i had to have one.

I got a few games for it, Paper mario, Super mario 3d land, Transformers Prime, Wreck it ralph, Scribblenauts Unleashed, and it came with Mario Cart pre-loaded.

Im usually not very picky about what i play...except RPGs, im not a fan really, but occassionally there will be one or 2 i like...

My personnal fave genre of games is First person shooters, and to a slightly lesser extent 3rd person "gears of war" style shooters. Platformers are good to...and i worship at the alter of "Metroid-vania" style games.

the games dont have to be 3DS games, plain old DS games are welcome as well, =]

So fellow gamers...recommend me some games please? =]

PRID Ultra Magnus' Weapon

Found Magnus today...and aside from really loose shoulders...he is AWESOME~! Seriously, i really didnt think i would be this impressed with him.

So, my only complaint is his weapon in vehicle mode. Useing the clear blue pegs to connect it so that the hammer is facing the back of the vehicle mode OR the other way around with the hammer part resting on the cab...Does the weapon actually plug in anywhere in those 2 configurations or does it just sort of sit with the pegs resting loosely in the holes in the "stand" pieces?

For some reason it feels like it should be sitting in there solid and i cant seem to get it to...plus its been a crazy day and i might just be missing something, or im not...=]
