I was just thinking about this because of the Unreal Engine 4 announcement regarding Wii U, and was curious if I'm the odd duck out here. When you choose the gaming hardware you're going to own. PC, Handheld or console - how much bearing do multiplat titles have on your decision.
Because for myself, they have essentially no bearing. They're nice to be there, and if they're on a platform I own I'll buy them, but they're almost never the deciding factor. I buy Nintendo platforms for Zelda, Metroid, Mario. I buy Playstation platforms for the Eastern support, recently the Tales of series, games like Ni No Kuni. Microsoft platforms for games like the Fable series, or Bioshock (initially). So I guess I'm just curious how many people buy a platform because a certain multiplat is going to play/look better on it than on another console that will play it? How important are exclusives to you gaming decisions?

I've had a 3DS since just after it's launch, and while I've never regretted the purchase, I'm going to be honest. I went til this year with only 2 games, and didn't have a huge interest in buying more, despite the quality titles (Mario 3DLand, Kid Icarus) coming out for the system. Heck I had it shelved for around 6 months til early this year - til I got talked into playing the Fire Emblem demo.
Since then I've barely had it off my person for any serious amount of time. I bought a new case that was easier to travel with just to hang onto it more readily. I've gotten 4 games for it in the course of 3 weeks (beaten 1 and am nearly half way through 2 of the others). Looking at the upcoming 3DS games for the year that we know about, there are at least 5 more titles I know I'm buying, if not more depending on demos, sales and reviews. Has anyone else noticed the system have a sharp and rather sudden upswing for them?

The demo has completely sold me on this game, a stunning feat considering I haven't played an sRPG since Final Fantasy Tactics, which I was terrible at, and turned me off of the genre almost completely.
It comes out Monday in North America, and I wasn't sure if there was anyone on the board who was also looking forward to it. Trailer:

So last night XSeed posted this teaser image on their twitter: https://twitter.com/XSEEDGames/status/29137...7746816/photo/1
Resulting in the usual rise of speculation. I'll admit, the first thing I saw was "Rainfall. Tower" but really didn't expect to wake up to the news that, yes in fact, Pandora's Tower is finally coming stateside. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/16/pan...o-north-america I still need to pick up the Last Story, but now that I know we're getting Pandora's Tower as well, I feel more compelled to get both of them to go along with my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles. Anyone else excited for this game finally coming out to a U.S. release? |
