This is just a little personally indulgent for-fun project that I've been poking at over the last couple of weeks between other things. I just took the basic idea of Dinobot's sword and re-invented it in my own style, then allowed myself to go a bit crazy with the detailing.
Modeled and rendered in Lightwave 9.5 (IMG:http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o236/darcarin/FB_Render_5_001.jpg) (IMG:http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o236/darcarin/FB_Render_1_001.jpg) (IMG:http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o236/darcarin/FB_Render_2_001.jpg) (IMG:http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o236/darcarin/FB_Render_3_001.jpg) (IMG:http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o236/darcarin/FB_Render_4_001.jpg) The inscription is a partial quote from Macbeth and reads, "If you can look into the seeds of time, and say which will grow and which will not, speak." Just something I have been tinkering around with for my demo reel, and was curious what people thought. It's not completely done yet, I have some lighting on the fur to tweak and some post-rendering editing to do, but it's getting close. This is the first time I have done texturing on this level, and my first go at fiber effects for the fur.
There isn't anything else to the model yet, he's just a head and shoulders; I will eventually get around to doing his full body one of these days. (IMG:http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o236/darcarin/fuuuur_002.jpg) Update: I won first place in the 2D Computer Generated category at Botcon! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) This is the version I entered in the contest; which has been edited and tweaked some (mmm post-editing. I love it so) since the last version I posted. A week ago, I graduated along with about 30 other students from the year long DAVE school animation and visual effects program. "Pest Control" was our final project, which we had three months to put together from the first polygon of the first model to the last bit of the last scene composite. It was a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun and I just wanted to share with you all what I spent the last three months helping to create. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif)
The main thing I contributed to this project was the Old Man Vaughn character model, even though I did bits and pieces of other things ranging from some short animation, a small bit of lighting, and a few other things. http://daveschool.com/movies/PC/ (Tip: To see in MUCH Better quality, hit the Download button) Hope those of you that watch it enjoy it. SO, for the last six and a half months I've been going to school to learn the ropes of digital animation and visual effects. I figured I'd finally post some of the stuff I have made here at the spark. I haven't completed anything Transformers yet though sadly, schoolwork has kept getting in the way of finishing the one project I had started.
Anyhow, have some images; First up, Fallout 3 Robobrain. This was one of my final projects after my first three months of class. Team Fortress 2. This was my first character model. Second-ish model ever. I made this the weekend after my first week of class. This was my week two project The Immortal's Mask from 300. I hated this project. So Much. And here (if the video works.... ) is something that may appeal to the Team Fortress 2 fans of the board. It's not great, but this was my first attempt at motion tracking and putting digital animation into a live action setting.

Just a little something I did a couple of weeks ago after I picked up the preview toys. The little flying space creatures are mostly random, and added in sort of last minute to give myself light sources to play with..
The painting itself is possibly aobut 10x16 on an 11x17 piece of primed watercolor paper. A slightly larger version can be found on my DA: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/55587952/ Oh, I may also have a few prints of this made by the time Botcon rolls around.. |
