Get More: Beavis and Butt-Head, MTV Shows QUOTE They’re back! Below is the first video from MTV’s upcoming revival of Beavis and Butt Head. Let’s put that another way: This is the first new Beavis cartoon produced for an MTV series run in 14 years. Yes, they say “bunghole.” Yes, they poke fun of Jersey Shore. As much as I want to put some quotes in here, I don’t want to spoil any of Mike Judge’s jokes. So let’s get right to it. “I felt like TV was getting too smart,” says Mike Judge on the Comic-Con panel when asked why he’s bringing back the show. Here’s your five-minute first look at the return of Beavis & Butt-Head (which is expected to return in October), and see below for our live coverage of the show’s panel from Comic-Con with Johnny Knoxville as moderator…. c-Con 2011 Jul 21 2011 08:01 PM ET Tweet 'Beavis and Butt-Head' take on 'Jersey Shore': First video from MTV's revival is here! -- EXCLUSIVE by James Hibberd Categories: Comments 55 Add comment They’re back! “I quit because I was getting a little burnt out,” Judge says about halting the show in 1997. “[Then] I kept writing ideas down and kept thinking about doing a movie. King of the Hill was done and they came to me. And I thought this would be pretty fun to do. I guess the answer is: I like doing it. Also, I like to feel like they’re kinda timeless. I was already pushing 30 [when the show launched], I didn’t know what was hip. Pauly Shore had a show that was a hit and everything he said was all California lingo and I thought, ‘I can’t compete with that.’ [Audience laughs]. So I just made it very simple.” On the characters watching Jersey Shore: “It felt like pay-dirt to me. I hadn’t seen it. I started watching the DVDs. I don’t feel good after watching it, but I kept watching it. They’re also watching UFC fights.” On using Koren animators: “It’s not a sweatshop. It’s an efficient use of space.” Afterward, I asked Judge if he’d ever consider writing a sequel to his cult classic Office Space: “At one point I could have been talked into it,” he says. “Not anymore. When the British version of The Office came along and U.S. version, there’s been so much in that world. When I saw it at 10-year anniversary, [I liked it] but it also made me feel like I shouldn’t go back to that. I wouldn’t want to see sequel to The Big Lebowski — not that I’m trying to compare the two, but it’s one of those movies I can watch again and again.” Judge then screened the long version of the Beavis preview. It included segments taking on 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom and the Twilight films (where the duo try to find somebody to turn them into vampires to pick up girls). Fans went absolutely nuts over the footage, and it’s like the show had never been away. I think I'm gonna cry. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

QUOTE Enter the Marietta, Georgia, case of 30-year-old Raquel Nelson, which has been bandied about in the comments section the last few days. Last April, Nelson was crossing a street with her three children when her 4-year-old was struck and killed by a car. She was crossing at an intersection, but was apparently not in a designated crosswalk. The driver who killed her had been drinking, taking painkillers, and was blind in one eye. He also has two prior hit-and-run convictions. Nelson and her daughter were also struck and injured. Residents of Nelson’s apartment building have complained to the city about the intersection. The nearest crosswalk is a half mile away. If we have as little to fear from overly aggressive prosecutors as supporters of Caylee’s Law claim, we could expect the prosecutor in this case to show some discretion and mercy for Nelson, right? Yes, she admits to jaywalking. Yes, she erred, and subjected her kids to unnecessary risk. But she just lost her son. It’s hard to fathom a more punishing, heartbreaking sentence. Moreover, the underlying “crime” here was a misdemeanor, one most of us commit every day. So mercy, right? Of course not. Nelson was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide. Which is insane. She was convicted last week. When she’s sentenced later this month, she could spend more time in jail than the man who struck and killed her son. Ugh. Just ugh.
