Dating your Ex's friend.

Partially looking for advice, partially just analyizing the situation.

So awhile back, a friend of mine introduced me to this girl. We hit it off well and started dating for awhile. Ultimately it ended (long story there) but not on bad terms. We stayed friends, even still hanging out sometimes. We both entertained the idea of getting back together for awhile, but ultimately it didn't go anywhere and we have both moved on.

Not long ago, I went out with her and some of her friends for her birthday. It was during this time I struck up a conversation with one of her close friends. The last few days, my Ex has made me aware of the fact that I made a positive impression on her friend. Stating that she had been asking about me, and wanted to invite me out with them more often.

I joined them and some of their other friends for a night out last Friday. It went fine, I had another conversation with her that went well. She's nice, she's cute and my ex seems to fully endorse me going out with her friend. While I'm not against the idea, I can't help but think this might get awkward down the road.

Maybe I'm overthinking this. Maybe I'm just paranoid.
