I just had a discussion with a coworker, wherein she accused drivers in my area of now knowing how to merge when encountering a construction zone. She, having grown up and learning to drive in California, is of the mindset that if your lane is ending heading into a construction zone, you stay in that lane as long as you can, and merge when you HAVE to. Her assertion is that those who move over as soon as they see a sign indicating "Lane Ends", even if it isn't for another two miles, are panicking.

As for me, and apparently quite a few drivers around here, I merge as soon as I can because I'm of the thought process that if everyone were to do so, traffic could continue unimpeded, and wouldn't have to slow or stop to let in those who waited until the last possible moment. Also, I don't want to depend on someone else being "nice" enough to let me in, or have to worry about whether or not I can squeeze in to a perceived gap.

I have to admit, it's beyond me that someone could think the way she does. It just makes more sense to me. Move over when you can, that way everyone's in line when the lane ends, and no one has to stop. I know that it doesn't EVER work out that way, but every little bit helps. If I can keep from holding up traffic, I've done my part.

At the same time, though, I'm man enough to admit that my way isn't always the right way, and I could be mis-thinking this. So, I put it out to you Allspark. How do you merge?

I'm basically just looking for some reassurance or guidance here; for those that have used the service, or know someone who has, how long did it take before you started getting responses with the guided communication?

I signed up for eharmony about two months ago. I've been getting matches, and I've tried communicating with them, sending out "smiles" to some, sending guided questions to others, and some get both. Right now I've got 13 smiles and I've sent the questions to 5. So far, no one has responded, and 3 have archived the match, again without even communicating with me.

I know that they can only deliver their suggestions for matches and can't guarantee much beyond that, but I can't help but feel that, with as many feelers as I have out there and the subsequent lack of response, I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks in advance all.

Does the UPS booth stay open after Botcon officially closes for the day on Sunday, or do you have to have all of your shipping needs attended to before 3:30?

I ask only because I experienced how bad the line was at the UPS store last year(and missed my shuttle to the airport as a result! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-wildride.gif) ), so I'm concerned that if I'm still caught up in the line when the sales room closes my stuff won't get sent home.

So, can anyone with experience in the matter enlighten me?

Hey, I haven't been around here much lately, but I just had to show this to you guys:

It's a bit long though, and some rough language at the start

If nothing else, just watch it up to the opening credits. Sorry if this has been posted up already, I couldn't find a thread for it.

I can't remember from years past, but haven't we usually seen a schedule by now? We're about a week from the start of Botcon and, possibly apart from some classes, we really don't know what's going on when. Is this normal and I'm just not remembering years past?
