After a long wait, Anime Sols has gone live. What is Anime Sols?
It's a streaming site, officially endorsed by Tezuka Productions, Studio Pierrot, and Tatsunoko Productions, that currently offers free subtitled episodes of various shows they've made. It's mostly to get a better foothold in the West: the anime bubble has popped, and getting DVDs printed isn't as easy as it used to be. This site's trying a new method: Kickstarter-esque crowd-funding. If they make their goals, we get DVDs, the site keeps going, and even more classics come to us. So what shows do they have right now? - Black Jack TV - Blue Blink - Creamy Mami - Tekkaman - Tobikage - Yatterman - Yatterman 2008 - and 90 minute movies like Bander Book, Marine Express, and Fumoon. For many of these shows, these translations are the first time we in the West have ever gotten them. The only real catch at this time? Due to the wacky world of licensing, Anime Sols is, at least at this time, ONLY in the US and Canada.

Vanilllaware, maker of cult hits Princess Crown, GrimGrimoire, Odin Sphere, and Muramasa: the Demon Blade... finally will be releasing Dragon's Crown this summer, August 6th for the Playstation 3 and Vita. Stuck in development hell for a while (a trailer was shown at 2011's E3, but not even a blip after) it will be published by Atlus.
Dragon's Crown is a four player arcade-style beat 'em up, much in the vein of the classic 90s Capcom-made D&D titles. In fact, the art director of this game, George Kamitani, helped make the original D&D arcade game. I, for one, am quite excited: Vanillaware has never made a bad game, and their visual style and spritework is dedicated and welcome. The Beam'em up is a genre I have always had fondness for, and am glad that these last few years have offered some great chances for those who love the genre. Simpsons, X-Men, Scott Pilgrim, Double Dragon Neon, and the D&D collection hitting this summer, the vintage brawler is doing very well for itself!

On a whim, I went to Target's website, and poked around in their coupon section. Surprise, surprise! Transformer coupons are available to print out!
A direct link to Target's coupon section. The coupons are $3 off Voyager Class figures, and $10 off Leader Class. Obviously, Dark of the Moon toys only. But good on you if your Target still has some gold box stragglers. The "Entertainment" tab also has a $3 off either Transformer movie, on either format. All coupons expire on July 16th. Sale prices at Target, all sales end July 30th. Consider this your "movie premier" sale: Go-Bots - $8.99 Activators - $9.99 Revving Robots - $17.99 Legion Class - $4.49 Commander Class - $7.49 Cyberverse Bases - $12.99 Deluxe Class - $10.99 Leader Class - $39.99 Transformers (2007)/Revenge of the Fallen: DVD - $10.99 Blu-Ray - $14.99

From Takara's TF website, translated by fans, comes an interview with the guy who made the Twins, The Fallen, Fire Convoy, Big Convoy, and BT Skids.
He also made the BW Neo Unicron prototype. |
