Robot Kingdom just posted this on their Facebook page...
Bad news from hasbro. We have informed by hasbro today that they suddenly increase the cost of all FOC upcoming items without warning, and include the items we have been preordering for a while... Heavy lost from most of those orders. We temporary put sold out for some of those FOC items, and will update the final price later. Robotkingdom Crew It doesn't say how much the increases are, but it sound like they are going to have to relist their preorders at the new prices. Yikes. I really, really love collecting Transformers, but between money getting tighter and the prices getting higher and higher, I think the era of casually buying toys as they come out may be ending for me. I'll still buy 'em, but its gonna be far fewer and less often. At least until the kid is in school and the wife goes back to work.

Hmm, it this pushes Retail Deluxes to the $18-$20 range pre-tax, Hasbro's going to have a harsh reality when sales drop too.
With the onslaught of Takara Tomy Masterpiece figures, and Fort Max, with the shear exception of fighting for an MP Prime, and Prime First Edition figures, my Hasbro buy list as of late has all but evaporated as it stands. This post has been edited by RYNO: Nov 1 2012, 07:24 AM |

Yeah it's to the point I'm likely to drop any future Prime releases and not get both Hasbro & TakaraTomy Generations but just TakaraTomy's save a few of Hasbro's (like Starscream). Though if Hasbro's come out way before hand, it will be hard to resist. Randy -------------------- ![]() |

I can't say I'm too surprised. Marvel Legends/DCUC figures were, what, $15 for the same size and half the engineering and moving parts? Transformers logically are expensive toys.

The current standard scale of Transformers is about to be priced out of mass market relevancy. The higher the price of a deluxe gets, the less likely parents are going to buy that toy over the cheaper Cyberverse alternative.
Prediction: The toyline for Transformers 4 will be almost entirely Cyberverse scaled. Deluxes will become the Cyberverse equivalent of Voyager and/or Leader size classes. There will probably still be a handful of standard Deluxe scale characters made for the collector market, but I'm expecting no more than one or two waves as a minor sideline. -------------------- |

I wouldn't mind a price hike if the current deluxes didn't have the look and design of yesterday's basics/scouts.

Up here in the Canadian Wal-Mart Prices are $16.77 for deluxes. Most other places usually start at 18 and go up to 23. Its been like that for years.

Sad news but not surprising anymore.
Hasbro has already priced themselves out of my collecting the mainline so now I'm just focusing on MPs which are completely obliterating my budget as it is. -------------------- ![]() |

Ah, dangit. I want these toys but Hasbro's making it hard for me to justify buying them. I want the Generations Combaticons, Soundwave, and Grimlock real bad, but if the price isn't right we're going to have an issue.
Though maybe not so much for Grimlock, since he's my favorite. |

This just makes me wanna buy all Takara TFs. I'm not spending $20 on a deluxe. "I'm not spending $20 on a Deluxe... I'm spending $30-40!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif) It does make justifying the Takara Tomy versions easier, but I'm not sure they work as replacements. -------------------- |

Yeah, I had really wanted to get the Combaticons AND the Wreckers, but that was already overbudget anyway at $15 a piece. If they're any higher, I'll be hard pressed to even buy all 5 Wreckers. I just don't have the throwin' around money that I used to. But either way, I gots to have me an Impactor. -------------------- ![]() |

You know, I never thought I'd see the day where I'd stop buying Transformers simply because they weren't making ones that I wanted. The way this sounds, we aren't at that point yet...but we might be getting there.

Maybe it's just Voyagers going up. They never really got the dramatic price hike that the deluxes did. $25 Voyagers could certainly be a possibility, and kinda make sense compared to the deluxes...
