I love Shockwave. Can't wait to see Prime's take on him, as well as the context of this image.
Though I was always partial to Shockwave having a yellow eye. |

Oh man, this episode has so much going for it. The return of Cliffjumper would be enough by itself, but they're throwing in Shockwave too! This is gonna be one of those episodes that is either gonna be memorable, or a massive fail; there's just too much awesome for it to merely be average. Honnestly, I'm not sure which I'm looking forward to more: How Cliffjumper turns up alive, and in one piece, or just what Prime's take on everyone's favorite Decepticon Cyclops will be. The one thing we do know is that in recent years, a lot of focus has been on making him the Cybertronian version of Dr Moreau (The original, H.G.Wells one)
This teaser picture has taken me completely over-the-edge, because not only can we see Starscream, but Arcee and Cliffjumper as well. The fact that the craven coward would choose to ally himself with the two Aubtobots most likely to yank out his spark though his torso plating, doesn't surprise me. What does, is the idea that Starscream would even be in the same zip-code as Shockwave, without the Apex Armor. I can easily see Shockwave deciding to hunt down and kill Screamer, because leaving a loose end running around would be illogical. -------------------- CW "We could always force him to watch that security footage of Waspinator trying to play an accordion.
DH "Are you kidding? Waspinator couldn't play a kazoo without fragging himself!" |

Shockwave sure is sounding Michael Dorn-y. Might just be all the pitch modulation though.
Edit: He's a lot more David Sobolov-y than that though, it would appear. This post has been edited by Fishbug: Aug 31 2012, 06:28 PM -------------------- |

Oh, nd Cliff was Billy Brown. I was wrong about it being the Rock again. Good imitation, though.

Woulda sworn that was Dorn.
Cliffjumper and Starscream's interaction here sure puts a new spin on their scene in the first episode. Now I watch it and imagine Starscream thinking; "Oh crap, he's talking, he's gonna trick me again!" Not as good as Hurt, but it's still better than the first half of Season Two.
Also, I was hoping for a promo for next week's episode. |

Yeah, Brown did a decent job with it. I was surprised.
I'm really starting to hate that when there's any nice moment in this show, like the one at the end, the second thing I think after "Aww, that's nice" is "Wow, wait until the hugging creepy fan art people get hold of that". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-kicker.gif) And holy crap, that is David Sobolov! |

Also, I was hoping for a promo for next week's episode. I was too. When I saw Wheeljack and Batman Beyond start to rap, I cursed the luck. But now, thinking about it, I'm gonna try to avoid it altogether and see if I can be surprised next week. -------------------- This week at Comic Critics!: Adding insult to injustice

Unfortunate it took them almost two years and over 40 episodes to produce one to make us give a flip about a guy who died in the first episode.
Shockwave, I felt was underused. He didn't do anything that a generic or new character couldn't have done, but I'm hoping this is a "preview" of sorts for Shockwave coming back as a regular villain, especially with a dedicated voice actor given how few lines he had. Decent episode, but a bit of character retreading on Arcee, and coming WAY late for Cliffjumper, IMO. Probably would have been a stronger episode had it come earlier in the series (like after Bulkhead's "Supersmart" event) |

Course he'll be back. Besides it just being a waste of a CG design otherwise, they're not gonna credit him with the invention of the cortical patch and the reinvention of the space bridge (two back doors to his "death") just to have him go out like this. -------------------- This week at Comic Critics!: Adding insult to injustice

Well, it doesn't utterly contradict the prequel comic. More like it adds a bunch of stuff between the scenes, recontextualizes others, and adds a major character.

I'm suddenly reminded of the comic mini series that's supposed to lead into Season 3 (I won't mention the name just in case not everyone follows comic news).
Shockwave plays a part in it, and while it could very easily take place prior to the events this episode depicts, it does make me wonder if there's already big plans for him next season. -------------------- This week at Comic Critics!: Adding insult to injustice

That was a really good episode. Totally character-centric. I appreciate that. Shockwave is probably still alive, so we'll hopefully be seeing more of him before too long.
Bulkhead is probably going to eventually make a full recovery, more or less. From a dramatic standpoint, that's kind of a bummer. David Sobolov. Cool. -------------------- I have signatures disabled because they suck.

“Impossible. Space bridge technology’s been lost for megacycles!” So…it’s been lost for…hours?
Given how Prime seems to pace plot points, we'll probably see Shockwave again at some random episode in the middle of season 3. I approve of the Sobolov, that's for sure. This episode is really making me wish Cliffjumper was still alive. The Autobots could use someone a bit more happy-go-lucky. -------------------- Being part of any fandom is fundamentally embarassing.
