That's Fireflight...
Wonder if there's an Air Raid planned, however. Thundertron's pretty cool looking. Definitely looks the part of a grizzled sea captain, now that we can see his details clearly. This post has been edited by mx-01 archon: Jul 12 2012, 02:29 AM |

Actually, they must have renamed him at some point. The label says "Air Raid".
Mind, they also call Scorponok "Scorponox", despite the fact that they JUST renewed "Scorponok" this year and have no trademarks on "Scorponox" filed with the USTPO. -------------------- BT Toons - updates Tuesdays and Fridays. I can read the tag. But the figure was originally revealed as Fireflight, and has Fireflight's head...

Presumably either 1) They had problems with securing the name Fireflight. 2) They realized Air Raid was the one with a role in the games. Or 3) They listened to the fan complaints that the mold looked far too "bad@ss" and mean for goofy, space-case, childlike Fireflight and switched it over to eager warrior Air Raid. While the colors are less "right" now, I have to say character wise it's a better fit. -ZacWilliam, and Thundertron will be a must buy, IF the stores ever clear out the hordes of Optimus that are clogging the Voyager price point right now..l -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

Wake me up when there is a repaint of Thundertron with a Predacon Razorclaw head in G1 predacon colors... this Blackbeard head and the weird anime-esque colors just don't work for a lion transformer mold. I dunno who made the "Lion=Pirate Captain" connection anyway. If anything, I'd expect a pirate TF with a beard to transform into a boat, or a walrus. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) Otherwise the mold is good.
I still can't make out what the two weapons of Fireflight are. He has a sword-shield thingie and a rifle with a flip-out bayonet? AT any rate, I'd have never expected that a Shockwave mold can be remolded to look totally unlike Shockwave, kudos for that. Will be buying him. -------------------- The de-evolution of Optimus Prime:

They are really going all-out with these remolds. It's amazing to me how different Airraid is from Shockwave, and Sideswipe from Jazz. It's inspired!

So, I have seen Kre-O threads and one thread for Fireflight and Thundertron, but we have seen more on SDCC.
Most importantly, FoC Ratbat. Who is simply, adorable. (IMG:http://www.seibertron.com/images/events/240/r_DSC01331a.jpg) To me it looks like they modelled his head after the G1 TF in 3D comics version. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) And althought at first I though he was a remold of the Laserbeak datadisk, no, he is a new mold. It's also hilarious that he comes with Frenzy, and Ravage comes with Rumble - much like in 1986. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) The disks are cheap too - 10$ for two Legends toys, not bad. Oh and... RIBFIR. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) I don't often buy straight repaints, but Soundblaster is a must-have, not just for Buzzsaw, he simply looks cool. Sideswipe is incredible, they replaced pretty much the whole hood, top and trunk of Jazz's car mode, new head, new weapon... wholly different. Kickback (finally he is not "Insecticon") is still mistransformed, but I am starting to see what he's supposed to look like. The glowing translucent wings are a nice touch. Weapon is a bit Mechtech-y though. Magnus and Fireflight are cool too, and Starscream is ace. I wonder whether Skywarp and TC will come with different FoC weapons, though. Starscream's head is great, love the details. From Prime, only Kup interests me, and his bio is hilarious. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) Thundertron - I'll wait for a repaint with a new head. -------------------- The de-evolution of Optimus Prime:

Love the confirmation that we're getting all the Recordicons up to 86 at least. Ratbat is indeed a cutie. Wish they hadn't got the colors of Rumble and Frenzy wrong. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) Definately buying these. I have great memories of buying cassette two packs as a kid, so these have me salivating.
I get the impression that I'm gonna be doing some reassigning. Sideswipe is gonna be Lightspeed for me. Air Raid (not-Fireflight) is gonna be a third bot too. Not sure who there. Likely either Cloudburst, Cloudraker, or Skyfall. I han't decided. I may have Magnus be Micromaster Overload. He's way too small to be Magnus and the upcomming Prime version is better anyway. -ZacWilliam, wondering if there'll be a new sneak peak or two in pannels. Here's hoping. That is a good idea - colors are close to Overload's anyway. The head looks like a re-used Titanium Magnus head, though.
As for Rumzy, heh, Hasbro just never makes up its mind. Or maybe they are doing it intentionally? Alternator and Robot Heroes Rumbles were black/red, now Prime Rumble and FoC Rumble are blue/purple, and the unreleased Demolitions Rumble would have been the same color as well. I dunno why anyone would re-assign Sideswipe, he looks exactly like Sideswipe did in WFC - which is stunning considering he is made from the Jazz mold. Also, Air Raid? On Botcon he was Fireflight. Did Hasbro suddenly lose the rights to the name? This post has been edited by BB Shockwave: Jul 12 2012, 07:54 AM -------------------- The de-evolution of Optimus Prime:

I really don't like Starscream's colors. At all. I think I'll give him a more Armada style paint job.

He's pretty Armada already, just change the blue details to black and the pink highlights to gold. I hope he actually has that much color when he's released, as the paint jobs have been sacrificed as of late. Randy -------------------- ![]() |

Eh, I don't feel the need to own a Cybertronian version of anyone I have a good earth version of. I'm happy with Classics SS. I don't really like Sideswipe to begin with. And the face is a bit dorky looking. Where as Lightspeed is one of my favorites, this mold passes for him and he is unlikely to get a better official toy match. QUOTE Also, Air Raid? On Botcon he was Fireflight. Did Hasbro suddenly lose the rights to the name? Either that, or they realized Air Raid's in the games more, or they decided it was too angry looking for childlike Fireflight. -ZacWilliam, probably just a rights thing though... It is a beter character choice. Wish they'd redone the colors to match. -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

Sergeant Kup is an extreme disappointment to me.
The figure looks cool enough, but it looks like Nightwatch Ironhide and not Kup due to the head. Makes me wonder if a Deluxe Ironhide isn't coming despite the listings for such. Randy -------------------- ![]() |
