Dear Paul W.S. Anderson: Reboot this franchise already and get a cohesive narrative going. This is getting embarrassing. For myself, I'm going to see it just to see if the franchise can pull out of the nosedive Afterlife put it in. I don't hold out much hope, given the nonsense of the trailer. *The World is Supposed to be Dead*, yet we're shown a bright, clean, shiny and inhabited New York, Moscow, and Tokyo. This looks so damn cool.
No I'm not being sarcastic. Yes I realize you all want me to die. Yeah sorry guys, these movies are a MAJOR guilty pleasure of mine. No they are not 'great' movies by any stretch of the imagination, but damn if I don't have fun watching them. Except for Extinction. That one was just dull. Afterlife was actually entertaining to me, so it was a step in the right direction. This one looks fun as all hell. I'm definitely seeing it soon as it comes out in 3D. -------------------- Pinkie's Tail is twitching! RUN!

I've never really liked these series of movies as Resident Evil movies, but as Zombie flix, I can stand watching them. They've never been Resident Evil to me, the whole uber over powered FanFic character with EVERY action movie cliche move/ability that COMPLETELY out shines the stars of the game series, is something I just cant be a fan of.
They cant keep the continuity in their own movie-verse right, and even stole Pyramid Head and put him in the last movie. With reboots being all the rave atm, maybe we'll see a reboot of the RE movies that actually follow the events in the game. |

It did. But we all know that one of the first steps to reclaiming space from zombies is to take and hold population centers. Major cities would be the first on the reclamation list.

Given that trailer very obviously mentions some matrix-style false words stuff going on, that pretty much gives them an excuse to do whatever they want with the preexisting narrative. Maybe it was all an llusion and the world is fine! Who knows.

*The World is Supposed to be Dead*, yet we're shown a bright, clean, shiny and inhabited New York, Moscow, and Tokyo. Actually, I think that whole beginning part just handwaves any plot descrepencies as "glitches in the matrix". And if they're actually smart enough to retcon the things which didn't make sense in the other movies using this plot device, then I'm fine with this. It would certainly explain why Rain and One are suddenly alive again in this movie if the whole Hive mission never actually took place. My only fear would be if they manage to retcon their way back into the actually game universe at the same time. That would one work in the hands of a much more talented writer/director Way to ruin your own big reveal about Wesker being alive in the trailer guys. |

Is he alive though? The fourth movie might have taken place in the real world and the Wesker on the screen is a fake. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif)

I'll watch it when it hits HBO, but with full knowledge that these movies are garbage and somehow manage to keep doubling down on stupid with each sequel.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif) It's all an ILLLLLUUUUUUUUSSSSSSIIIIIIOOOOONNNN Carlos Olivera is Alice's wife in the opening simulation, so its hard to say, since he is clearly based on a real person. It could argued the same is true of the basketball player from Afterlife, who could actually be another Umbrella security operative in real life. If they have retconned their way back into the game universe(Which would be simultaneously terrifying and awesome, if done right), then this movie would have to be taking place during RE5, since Jill is under Wesker's control. But who am I kidding, there's really zero chance of them actually doing this. |

Actually, major population centers would be last of the reclamation list, if only because there's so many places for Zombies to hide. Not to mention major population centers have jack all when it comes to the basics: Food Production and Manufacturing. As for the trailer...well, we know how I felt about Afterlife. I'm willing to give it a shot, mostly because I still adore the first flick. It's odd, but this really is the first movie series where love of the first movie has carried me through three horrible sequels and I'll likely sit down with the fourth. -------------------- Nobody knows what we're for only what we're against when we judge the wounded

I remember one Resident Evil movie where they showed the world and the entire planet was a desert, even the oceans were dried up. Then the movie after that they were on a boat? >.> Now there are thriving cities again? Wait, are they running the franchise in reverse? Because that would explain a lot to me. o.o

Extinction seems to be being slowly reconned out of existence. Mostly because a dead, desert planet is kind of boring for a setting, is my guess.
I always thought Extinction was the way it was due to a shoestring budget, but it actually had a bigger budget then the first movie did, so I have no idea why they shot the whole thing in the desert. -------------------- Nobody knows what we're for only what we're against when we judge the wounded
