I bet Masterpiece Hoist won't even be able to fit in Masterpiece Huffer's cab. Those jerks.

If they ever made a Masterpiece Huffer with a tiny Hoist that goes in the cab, I would die happy.

Actually I'm sure I'd find something else to complain about by then, but for a few moments, everything would be right in the world.

Actually, I don't. I'm on the "for that price it should be a lot bigger" side.

How do you figure? On BBTS, MP Sideswipe is $80, while Japanese Prime Voyagers are $60. I imagine that extra twenty bucks more than covers for the die-cast, fully-painted finished surface, licensed alt mode, additional MP-level complexity, and accessories.

I wasn't referring to the mainline voyagers. I think those are far overpriced for a mainline toy that isn't meant to offer what we expect from MP or Alternity/Binaltech lines. I was specifically comparing value against the Alternity line. Still using BBTS for price comparison, the Alternity line ranges from $47 - $65. This line offers fully painted bodies, rubber tires, diecast body panels, MP-level engineering, and is nearly the same size as MP Sideswipe. It's the comparative value that I question.

In the end none of this matters. We're getting what we're getting, but we can still discuss it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

As someone who has all of the Alternity guys...I find the non-Prime ones horrifically un-fun, and desperately hope that Sideswipe has little to no die-cast.

I really don't think the Alternity toys are "nearly the same size" as Sideswipe. Sideswipe's bound to be a large-ish voyager, while Alternities were comparable to Deluxes.

MP Sideswipe is a heads taller than Universe Sideswipe. Alternity Prime (and most Alternity) is a head shorter than Universe Sideswipe.

So I'd say that placing an Alternity figure next to MP Sideswipe would be like placing one next to Voyager Skyhammer or Optimus Prime. IE, not "nearly the same size as MP Sideswipe".

So, is Sideswipe the first to-scale Masterpiece, barring MP-01 Optimus and whatever number Megatron was? Or are Starscream, Grimlock, the new Optimus, and Sideswipe all in scale with each other?

Serious question, I've only seen MP-01 Optimus and Rodimus Prime in person, and I think Rodimus Prime and new Optimus Prime are in scale with each other, right? Though I suppose MP Hot Rod, as it were, is seriously out of scale...

Figures in scale with each other and in the new scale used for the rest of the line:

MP-3 Starscream (and it's redecos)
MP-6 Skywarp
MP-7 Thundercracker
MP-9 Rodimus Convoy / MP-9B Black Rodimus Convoy
MP-10 Convoy
MP-11 Starscream / MP-11S Sunstorm
MP-12 Lambor
MP-13 Soundwave & Condor
MP-14 Alert

Figures not in the new scale but still in scale with each other.

MP-1 Convoy
MP-2 Ultra Magnus
MP-4 Convoy Complete
MP-5 Megatron

MP-9 Rodimus Convoy is in scale with the others listed with him, but not in Hot Rodimus mode (just Rodimus Convoy mode).

MP-3, MP-6, MP-7 are in scale with MP-9 and the proceeding releases by coincidence, as they were not built when the new scale was made, but are around the same height and use some of the same parts as MP-11.

Season 3 had him roughly the same height as Rodimus at times.

"Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." -- C.S. Lewis

Comparing him to MP-10, they're roughly the same scale as the original G1 Grimlock & Optimus toys. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)

I don't know how they would do it but IF They ever did make a MP Huffer you know he would need to be able to also pull Primes Trailer. Just a little fodder for the to scale talk.

One of the original concepts for MP-10 was for him to come with a Masterpiece Huffer to pull the trailer. It was priced out of the set, unsurprisingly.

Well they could design an MP Huffer to fit Legends Hoist in his cab.

To me you have MP1, 2, 4, 5, and 9 (Hot Rod). Then you have 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 (Rodimus Prime), 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. Kind of neat that MP-9 bridges the gap a bit if you will.

Yeah MP-9 Hot Rod is probably in good scale with MP-1 Convoy and MP-5 Megatron.
