Dude, it's almost physically painful looking at the comparison pictures on this one. I was already really disappointed in his deco, but this just further illustrates how it's not close at all to doing the character justice. I don't even realistically expect most of the details that you added to show up on a toy, but Hasbro's just looks awful.

Yeah, I agree. It feels like Hasbro didn't even try with him. Least with Ratchet you could say that they were trying for a balance between making both modes look right.

They really were simply worried about the car mode. I think they could have left the gradient detail off and people wouldn't have cared.
The mold itself is a bit odd as well. Snap on wheels instead of pins is great for painting but it felt like cutting corners to save money on the mold itself.

How'd you handle fixing his awful burgundy gradient anyhow? Red clear-coat? That and the rims were pretty much the only things deterring me from ever wanting to do this myself whenever he showed up 'round here.

I painted over the burgundy with a dark red then clear red over the whole shebang.

Sweet. The mold is still kind of disappointing, but at least now he looks suitably pretty!

I definitely am. If I manage to make it look half as good as this, it'll still be 10 times better than the Hasbro deco.

Been looking forward to seeing what you'd do with this figure, and you didn't disappoint! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif)

The detail you added is stunning, but if Hasbro had just used your color choices for the existing paint apps, I'd like the retail version so much more.

It's hard to believe the original and your custom are the same toy. It`s mindblowing!. Great Job man!

About the cutting corners thing with the wheels on knock out, I'm starting to believe the next transformers we get are going to be like zoid model kits: a bunch of parts in two or three runners and all the paint and other detailing goes on yourself. Takara/tomy versions look like they are headed in that direction.

Incredible work Cheets. And really happy to see multiple people saying they're going to replicate with this as a reference. We had a vision of this forum being that kind of place. Think it's starting to become reality. So proud of how good you've gotten my friend!

i was thinking the samething. Hasbros is actually just insulting. They couldnt even get the face right. I seriously dont know what Hasbro is thinking half the time when they paint a toy.

The yellow is what does it. Everything else is spot on, but the yellow is what makes him pop they way he's supposed to. Even if his face wasn't white, the yellow would help him tremendously.

At least its a different color then RED.
