Before I actually saw the figure, I was wondering why come Botcon seemed to be after Cheets' bread and butter this year. Now that I've seen the figure, they just want the bread. And some margarine.

I'm still seeing Scrounge colors. I kinda like it. It's just weird enough to be interesting. And I love Scrounge. -ZacWilliam, I may not like it enough to pay Botcon Exclusive prices, but if I were there I think I'd be happy, or at least intreagued by him. -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

I'd like to compliment Pete's package for its starring role in the beginning of the video.

People keep suggesting Scrouge, and I heard Xaaron, and either of those is possible, but neither of them has any green. So it's really just "what yellow guys can you plausibly connect to Straxus?".
I still think he might just be an inverted Straxus. There aren't a lot of yellow guys with green trim. Crosscut. BM Cheetor. BM Buzzsaw. Slow Poke. Maybe he's Slow Poke-colored. This post has been edited by LV!: Apr 25 2012, 08:38 PM |

Is the point just that he'll look great with SG Bludgeon? Because I'm pretty sure he will.

I do wonder. Several of the SG figures have been "suped up" compared to their classics versions. Jazz, Goldbug, and Starscream all come to mind.
I wouldn't rule out the possibility that there was a chance this figure was originally going to be SG Swindle, based upon the leaked list. It could be that they couldn't secure a remolded, Swindle-esque head, so they just kept the original head and made it SG Straxus as a "Plan B". Highly unlikely, I know, but I'm curious. -------------------- |

Honestly, the most interesting part of this for me is it gives just a little hint of characterization to the mysterious Xal. Ok, yes this is me entirely reading WAY too much into this, I will admit that upfront. But the "Xal Unbound" reference is to Shelly's Prometheus Unbound. Which I'm going to pretend at least casts him as a Prometheus figure in (SG) Cybertronian myth. Since I've been wondering about him since G2 in the 90s it's at least something.
-ZacWilliam, and if I'd happened to cast Xal in a "Prometheus" role in an old fanfic I never finished, that's just kinda a cool coincidence. anyone have insight into the colour choices .. I am unfamiliar with the comics, and where if even this comes from ? This is my guess. Extrapolate that head onto a full body with a monochromatic look similar to his G1 self, and... you get SG Straxus. |
