I will say, that due to the IDW comics, I want him in the show now. Preferably as a commanche or a cybertronian gunship. But with the IDW personality, but instead of just being a jerk, he was driven insane when his brother, Roadbuster, died.
I think having someone who only Ultra Magnus, not Prime, can keep in line would be cool. Plus, rarely-used character who is getting the spotlight. What do you guys think he should be like? |

So, he doesn't have a set personality, so having the IDW one become the standard would be cool.Plus, the Prime Team seems to use lesser characters as the norm once they got the required six (Prime, BB, Ratchet, Megs, Scream, Soundwave) out of the way. |

I don't know if his so-said 'lack' of use would make the IDW characterization anymore plausible a default than his g1 tech spec, or comic portrayals though. I - like I said, would rather they start from an entirely new point.

I - like I said, would rather they start from an entirely new point. I say lack as in lack of characterization. He's been in every major comics series (G1, DW, IDW), but only in IDW did he become distinct.Plus, it'd throw in some instability for the autobots that wouldn't smooth over easily. Still, I see your point. Maybe have some mix of the ROTF Whirl as well? |

Being as there's only one helicopter for him to be a repaint of, he'd be a she.

Given that we're working with CGI, the best we can probably hope for at this point is a gunship rendition of the Huey clones that have been cropping up;* otherwise, they'd have to pay for a brand new vehicle model as well rather than just altering an existing one.
With Whirl, his characterization could be that he's seen and done so much that he can never go back to being a civilian. Optimus has probably read everything on Project Gutenberg. Ratchet loves to tinker. Arcee likes long drives. Bee is a gamer. Bulkhead enjoys music. Wheeljack is in to sports. But Whirl? Dude goes stir crazy unless there's some action. If he's not dismembering Vehicons, he just doesn't know what to do with himself. Maybe pair him up with Fowler as a study in contrasts: Fowler is a foodie who enjoys long vacations, making him Whirl's polar opposite. *In real life, the UH-1 Iroquois come in two flavors: "slicks", which had no wings, and "gunships", which did. Gunships have two hard mounts on each wing, enabling them to carry TOW anti-tank missiles, rocket pods, or gun pods (self-contained machine guns with ammo). They were originally created by the United States military to perform air strikes and escort their slick brethren, and ultimately served as a stopgap until the AH-1 Cobra was ready for active-duty service. -------------------- Lexicon: still up and running!
** "At my last intern briefing, Craig was clearly tired. His message had changed to, "Stay out of trouble, period." It seemed that, as director of security, Livingstone was growing old fast. If he didn't watch out, he'd become one of us - a 'Mormon' or a 'straight,' which is what Clinton staffers called FBI agents, the Secret Service, and former Bush employees." Aldrich, Gary. Based on my idea, if fused with yours, he sort of inherited Roadbuster's personality when Roadbuster died? With Whirl, his characterization could be that he's seen and done so much that he can never go back to being a civilian.
