Was just reading a mosaic featuring Bombshell and a poster said he could imaging Bombshell with Tarantulus' evil laugh. Not the first time I've seen a comparison between the two.
So I was wondering are there any other seeming unrelated characters that could possibly be the same character? Personally, I've long believed it wouldn't take much imagination to link Robotmasters Wingstun and BW Waspinator. Both have shared a mold. Both have similar colour schemes. Both have served under BW Megatron. Wingstun has little if any fiction or characteriastion so he's pretty much a blank state. I can almost hear him say, "Why Universe hate Wingstun?" Terrorsaur and G1 Thrust are another pairing. Both are cowardly braggards with similar color schemes. In fact, Titanium WW Thrust really strikes me as making a nice pre-Beast toy for Terrorsaur. So what do you guys think? |

Listen, I like Beast Machines just fine. But what you're calling clever from an in-universe perspective, I call an act of forcing character drama by relying on relationships the characters already had, rather than letting the new characters stand on their own and develop solely as their own people. Now, if it had stopped at just Rhinox, I don;t think I'd take issue, or at least not the same way. Rhinox was Primal's friend more than Silverbolt ever was, and Rhinox also represents a direct failure of Megatron's in the past. Rhinox is a tactical choice as well as an outlet for some revenge. (I imagine Megatron was still pretty upset about that time Rhinox hit him with a car, y'know.)
The problem stems from having all three Vehicons being old Beast Wars characters, and it's a real-world production problem, not necessarily an in-universe logistics problem. This is always something I've regarded as a weakness of how Beast Machines was written in the first season. There was never any NEED for it. Only one of those characters got a new toy form in Beast Machines, and it was hardly required to drag down the generals as all being these guys you knew last year in order to facilitate that. --------------------
