He has the wings, they are molded on to his head pointing backward. .... Never thought of it that way... I thought that was more of a hommage to the toy's helmet. Like Grapple's head mold is more alike to the cartoon design's helmet. -------------------- The de-evolution of Optimus Prime:

I don't know why anyone would want to walk around with a box around their head that blocks their peripheral vision.

Hmm, would a ladder for Inferno have helped? Just wondering how much of the essential Inferno-ness is lacking in the Universe toy. If it would change the overall design of the to make the vehicle mode look longer and the robot mode look "taller", maybe. But really ladder or pump truck doesn't really matter to me. It's just that G1 Inferno was one of the first toys to have somewhat human proportions compared to the Autobots around him. Which always made that aspect of his toy stand out in my mind. So the big chunky no-waist Universe toy was a disappointment since we first saw images of it. Huh. I'm apparently one of these people, like Walky, who've always thought of Inferno as a big lump of Dery squatness; probably because I didn't own the G1 mold until I was an adult, so I just had the fiction. If anything, Universe Inferno struck me as more athletic than I'd expected. So maybe the Universe toy splits the difference just fine. I do kinda want him to have a red face though, like in the comics. Maybe copper red. Maybe I'll do that. This post has been edited by Chip: Apr 20 2012, 01:19 PM -------------------- |

And then this happened...
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-cus...rd-add-kit.html While it's chock full O nostalgia it comes off as kinda dumb. What are the wings for? Why prohibit neck movement which then limits how expressive it can be? -------------------- |

The collar is an important part of the look to me. It's iconic like Shockwaves hexagonal, one eyed head, Jazz' visor (even Bay kept that) or Hot Rod's spoiler.
Too many reimagings in both the toys and comics have taken such things away or added things that just look off in recent years, such as Blurr's wing head or Hot Rod's horns. I was always a huge Inferno fan but the first toy I had was the Actionmaster. Don't get me wrong, I was a huge Actionmaster fan but AM Inferno never looked right to me because he was missing his collar. This post has been edited by windsweeper: Apr 20 2012, 05:21 PM |

As long as it could come off and on easy I'd totally take one to make my Inferno and Grappel look more "Classic". I can assure you it will probably cost at least $10. This is, after all, fan-produced, and casting materials aren't cheap.

...and that is so bought. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-silverbolt.gif)
Kinda wish it came down under the head too but I'll take it anyway. Basically what Windsweeper said. I consider it essential to his "look" even though it does impede articulation. This post has been edited by MrBlud: Apr 20 2012, 04:46 PM -------------------- ![]() |

I love me some G1 inferno but oddly enough I prefer his new look so I'm good.

I don't hate it. If I actually HAD an Inferno to stick it on I might bite.

I don't know why anyone would want to walk around with a box around their head that blocks their peripheral vision. Ask Stacks! Or Shockwave and Whirl. Then again, the latter two don't have peripherial vision. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) -------------------- The de-evolution of Optimus Prime:

Now, if this were integrated into some new back-mounted ladder assembly, that would interest me. -------------------- |

Assuming their optics work anything at all like human eyes, that is. They likely have highly advanced sensors, with significantly more visual capability than us. -------------------- |
