Is anyone watching this amazing show? Unlike most shows that come on, I feel compelled to try to figure out what's going on and scour each scene for clues or hints.
My fear is that this show is too smart for viewers and will go the way of Journeyman and leave us unfulfilled. |

Hadn't heard of it. I fell out of the habit of keeping track of new TV shows a few years ago. Since then I've mostly heard about them after the fact, and bought or rented them on Blu-Ray or DVD if they sounded interesting. It airs on Global up here; I'll have to see if there are any past episode recordings stored in Bell's free on-demand database. The description on Wikipedia reminds me a bit of Charlie Jade, another parallel universe mystery series from 2005. That one didn't last too long; I don't think it even made it to 2006, lol.

It's on Hulu but I don't think you get that up there. Maybe if you proxy it or something but I really don't know much about that. It's only 6 episodes in so it's early enough to get caught up on. It doesn't make my jaw drop when I watch it, but there's a lot of care in the production.

I've only seen the first episode, but it gave me everything I wanted out of the concept.
Its amazing and I look forward to watching the rest of them. -------------------- |

It's an interesting show and we're enjoying watching it, but it's telegraphed so obviously that neither reality is the real one that I think it takes a bit of fun out of the "Which one is the hallucination?" hook.
I'm a bit surprised that there's been more "one world gives a vague dream-logic hint about the other" mystery-solving than "clues from one world help him solve mysteries in the other". It makes things less predictable, I guess, but it also means that the episodes don't have to be written as cleverly as I was expecting them to be. -------------------- |

My fear is that this show is too smart for viewers and will go the way of Journeyman and leave us unfulfilled. When I saw the commercial for it many weeks back for the first time, I was thinking the same way. It looks too high concept to last. Actually, that feeling was so strong I kinda disregarded it entirely and forgot it was happening until you posted this. Why yes, I am part of the problem. --------------------

So the finale is next week. Not the season finale because NBC has decided that America is too dumb for a good show that makes you think.

I worry we won't get any closure on the story. Looks like we'll probably be wrapping up the whole accident conspiracy thing but I don't see them actually telling us what's going on with the two worlds. Maybe when the show's confirmed cancelled the creator can just tell us what the secret was.

I don't like how easy it is to be a modern day soothsayer when it comes to tv.

Thats a shame, I'm looking for something to watch. The only show I'm enjoying just now is Game of Thrones. Journeyman was an awesome show.

Definitely let me know. I was thinking of trying it out the other day but if it just suddenly ends with no closure? Yeah, screw that noise.

There was enough of a finishing point to make it worth watching, Cheets.
Honestly, this was pretty much the ending I was expecting. HIGHLIGHT to view: That both realities were false and he'd wake up in a third one. Is the third one the actual reality? Well the way it ended, I guess so. But I imagine if there had been a second season, we'd have that shattered since the lead up with the shrink could be read as though he was generating this third reality in his mind and not really "waking up". Also, I do wish that there was more to this third reality than just waking up from a dream. Negating EVERYTHING that he experiencing in the dreams, eh. Not a big fan. I would have preferred that the accident still happened, but he was the most seriously injured. And in a coma. All the various plots with his wife, son, boss, partners, etc could have been his subconscious reacting to the real world. Ie, when his son visited him, he'd dream he was with Rex. When his wife visited, he'd dream about Hannah. When he overheard the chief say something about the accident, he'd dream of the conspiracy against him. But... It was an ending. Which is better than I had expected. This post has been edited by NightViper: May 25 2012, 01:53 PM -------------------- |
