Guess what! Another brand new pony episode is nearly here! *puts on Sherlock Holmes hat* Time to get cracking on this cake caper!
QUOTE MMMystery on the Friendship Express: Pinkie Pie starts the silliest criminal investigation in the history of Equestria when a cake she is guarding for a contest is destroyed on the way to Canterlot. I can't believe we are almost finished with season 2. After this episode, only the 2 part season finale remains. While there's no way to know how many more seasons we're going to get (who knows; S3 could easily be the last), it would be awesome if each season had a Pinkie episode immediately preceding the finale, as both S1 and S2 have.

Hm. Didn't really think the story was as good as the last few, but still enjoyed that episode, had some funny moments. I especially loved "Are you okay, thief?" Pinkie, you so sweet~ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif)

QUOTE Welcome! You have entered [The Well] at 11:21 am
[Skids] 11:21 am: Hey Dvandom [Dvandom] 11:21 am: Mornin' [Skids] 11:24 am: So what craziness can we expect with this weeks episode? [Dvandom] 11:24 am: Hopefully some obscure Murder on the Orient Express references beyond just the title and being on a train. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif) [Skids] 11:25 am: ok [Dvandom] 11:26 am: At the very least, a pony who sounds vaguely like Sean Connery. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif) [Skids] 11:26 am: cool [Dvandom] 11:26 am: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_on_the...%281974_film%29 [Dvandom] 11:27 am: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_on_the...ess_(1974_film) (annoying how the paste buffer turns some characters into %things.) [Dvandom] 11:30 am: And if they follow the Orient Express plot...we'll be able to tell at the end. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) [Skids] 11:30 am: ok [The Well]: sobana has entered at 11:30 am [sobana] 11:30 am: o.o [Skids] 11:30 am: yo [sobana] 11:30 am: Yay, I'm not banned here! =D [Skids] 11:31 am: What you do? [Dvandom] 11:31 am: I'll be doing an OS upgrade after ponies. Hopefully all will go well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) [sobana] 11:32 am: I post a link I wasn't suppose too and now I'm banned for like 2 weeks [Skids] 11:34 am: OH that link. [sobana] 11:34 am: Yesh! That link! O_O [Skids] 11:34 am: On my end checking out the ohio brony community stuff [Skids] 11:37 am: Just interestign stuff liek realize where is bad location for the ohio brony community and the controversy bewteen the 2 ohio pony convention that are ahppening this year. [sobana] 11:38 am: I'm hearing rumors that season 4 as been green lighted [Skids] 11:38 am: cool [sobana] 11:39 am: That one of the new writers leaked she was working on season 4 on twitter [The Well]: scavgraphics has entered at 11:40 am [Skids] 11:41 am: Good early afternoon. [sobana] 11:41 am: Welcome! [The Well]: Arson has entered at 11:41 am [Dvandom] 11:41 am: Lo [Arson] 11:41 am: Mornin', all! [sobana] 11:41 am: Welcome! [The Well]: stevethepocket has entered at 11:41 am [Arson] 11:41 am: and behold? [sobana] 11:41 am: Welcome! [stevethepocket] 11:42 am: I can't believe I didn't realize until now that the chat wanted my forum login details. I thought there was some sort of special account I needed for this. I'm not a clever pony. [pao] 11:42 am: why hello--there's everyone! [Skids] 11:43 am: Were still missing a few. [sobana] 11:43 am: Hiya, I just talking about the season 4 rumors! =D [pao] 11:44 am: well, this is a 700% larger crowd than there was when I logged in [sobana] 11:44 am: I also hear tell that season 3 will be a full 26 episodes [stevethepocket] 11:45 am: You also "heard" that there would be a blu-ray release (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif) [Arson] 11:45 am: Maybe they intend to split it in half like they did with the last season of Doctor Who? [The Well]: Guardian Prime has entered at 11:45 am [Skids] 11:45 am: maybe [sobana] 11:45 am: You are on that site too!? O_O [Arson] 11:45 am: Mornin' [sobana] 11:45 am: Welcome! [Guardian Prime] 11:45 am: mornin [Dvandom] 11:46 am: Those of you who are unfamiliar with "Murder on the Orient Express" might want to peruse the wiki page on it ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_on_the...ess_(1974_film) ) before Mystery on the Friendship Express starts. It may be relevant. [stevethepocket] 11:46 am: @sobana I [sobana] 11:46 am: @stevethepocket! [stevethepocket] 11:46 am: I've been on "that site" since last fall. I posted in that very thread [The Well]: Nayuki has entered at 11:47 am [Dvandom] 11:47 am: Mornin' [Skids] 11:47 am: Welcome! [sobana] 11:47 am: Sneaky! [sobana] 11:47 am: Welcome! [Arson] 11:47 am: mornin' [Nayuki] 11:47 am: hi guys [sobana] 11:47 am: Whats your screne name? [stevethepocket] 11:47 am: Pocket, same as the Allspark [sobana] 11:47 am: I have not noticed [sobana] 11:48 am: so many posts go on there, its hard to keep track of people [sobana] 11:48 am: The man of the hour, Nayuki! =D [stevethepocket] 11:48 am: I wish Firefox had a split-screen option, but I guess I'll have to make do with side-by-side windows [Guardian Prime] 11:49 am: Same here. Using Firefox with side by side windows. [sobana] 11:49 am: what other screen are you watching? [sobana] 11:50 am: You watching the stream of it or something? [stevethepocket] 11:50 am: yeah [Skids] 11:50 am: I got 3 IE windows up. 1 for chat, 2 for the pony stream since the tv that has the hub is in the basement, and third for ohio brony message board. [sobana] 11:50 am: I get my ponies straight from the tab. [Guardian Prime] 11:51 am: Watching everything on just the one computer moniter. Since I don't hav the Hub anymore, I have to watch everything on my computer now. [The Well]: scavgraphics has left at 11:51 am [sobana] 11:52 am: Nuh! he left! [sobana] 11:53 am: So anyway, I was talkig at Nayuki about season 4 rumors, only he is not allowed to talk about that kind of stuff, so it was pretty much be talking to my self again about ponies. =) [sobana] 11:54 am: Supposedly, one of the new writers made a tweet about working on season four, only now it has been deleted. =( [stevethepocket] 11:55 am: Yeah, Natasha Levinger [sobana] 11:55 am: Thats her! [stevethepocket] 11:55 am: I guess it's true, or she wouldn't have deleted it [Guardian Prime] 11:55 am: Way too early to be thinking about season 4. [sobana] 11:55 am: But she doesn't have any pior writing expience [The Well]: scavgraphics has entered at 11:55 am [stevethepocket] 11:55 am: Well, she said she was the next new writer, but she didn't say what season [Arson] 11:56 am: Welcome back [scavgraphics] 11:56 am: computer's about 5 mintues away from going thru the window [sobana] 11:56 am: Near to early to think ponies now. [stevethepocket] 11:56 am: That seems odd to me too [stevethepocket] 11:56 am: I guess everyone has to start somewhere though [Skids] 11:56 am: Hmm I can proably give Nayuki something to talk about that he will be allow to comment on. [stevethepocket] 11:56 am: Hopefully in her case they WILL know better than to let her write an entire episode without help [sobana] 11:56 am: But new on ponies? This is like the premier cartoon of childern entertainment! [sobana] 11:57 am: brb, going to warm up the TV! [pao] 11:57 am: (Shortcake) that snowglobe is as big as the berry dude...someone hasn't heard of travelling light [stevethepocket] 11:57 am: I've been saying for a while that this show could always benefit from having two writers on some episodes [stevethepocket] 11:57 am: HA HA! TIME FOR PONIES! [pao] 11:57 am: 3...2...1...ponies [Nayuki] 11:57 am: yay ponies [Skids] 11:57 am: Because of him and the rest of the MLP staff. The show is my 4 year old neices second favorite show where she absolutely adores Applejack and when she visting. she ask me to put ponies on the computer for her to watch. [pao] 11:58 am: cake-related mystery? I can dig [Dvandom] 11:58 am: Marzipan peaches [stevethepocket] 11:59 am: Pegasistance! [pao] 11:59 am: "pegassistance"...also, cake requires taglines [scavgraphics] 11:59 am: ponies have battery powered lights [Dvandom] 11:59 am: Structurally iffy cake. It'd never fly on Ace of Cakes. [Skids] 11:59 am: Big mac the first pony to break his over cake. [Skids] 11:59 am: back [Arson] 11:59 am: Mr. Cake is dying.\ [pao] 11:59 am: so, wagons much? [Arson] 12:00 pm: That would be too easy. [Skids] 12:00 pm: R.i.P. Mr. Cake [scavgraphics] 12:01 pm: if they wanted easy, you get the star child to teleport it there [Dvandom] 12:01 pm: Marzipan explodes when teleported. [pao] 12:01 pm: except for the small risk of teleporting it into a dragon instead [sobana] 12:01 pm: who would pull the magon? Exacly! [sobana] 12:01 pm: wagon* [sobana] 12:01 pm: Exellect opening by the way, my mom laughed [stevethepocket] 11:02 am: I like that they're putting actual plot into the cold openings again, for a while they were being wasted on throwaway gags [pao] 11:03 am: there is a dedicated dessert car... [Dvandom] 11:03 am: No nails, Mac is just hitting the wall with a hammer out of annoyance. [pao] 11:03 am: lol [Dvandom] 11:03 am: My sound keeps cutting out in this scene.... [Arson] 11:03 am: MMMMMMM. [Skids] 11:03 am: Going on in big Mac's mind. They couldn't make the cake at Canterlot. [Arson] 11:04 am: NEW GRYPHON [Dvandom] 11:04 am: Tsk, eclairs and donuts in the same category as a cake? [pao] 11:04 am: Is that an Empire State Donut Tower? [pao] 11:05 am: also, sudden species diversity [Arson] 11:05 am: I'd vote for the Donut City. Looks tasty... [Dvandom] 11:05 am: But susceptible to attacks by Homerzilla. [Skids] 11:06 am: calling it now. Their going to be running gag in that hall [Dvandom] 11:06 am: Sleep-eating on Pinkie's part, I suspect. [Dvandom] 11:06 am: This episode brought to you by Ambien. [stevethepocket] 11:08 am: Did anyone else hear a chomping sound after everything went to black? [pao] 11:08 am: that ear scratch was just cute [scavgraphics] 11:09 am: see, this is the problem with living on sugar, pinky...sugar crash [sobana] 11:09 am: New gryphon! [sobana] 11:09 am: Wait! [sobana] 11:10 am: Why are we using the World of Warcraft spelling of gryphon? [Skids] 11:10 am: I'm hoping for pony equivalent of the spanish enquistion since no expects THE SPANISH ENQUISTION! [Dvandom] 11:10 am: Just you and Arson are spelling griffon the otehr way. [Dvandom] 11:10 am: The Spanish Equinesition! [Arson] 11:11 am: Because that's hoyw I've always spelled Gryphon. [Arson] 11:11 am: Though I've never played WoW.\ [sobana] 11:11 am: Good call, Arson! [pao] 11:11 am: Gryffphon? [Dvandom] 11:11 am: Gryppen [Arson] 11:12 am: It was the Gryphon. [Dvandom] 11:12 am: It was everyone! [Skids] 11:13 am: ROFL [pao] 11:13 am: outofwords [stevethepocket] 11:13 am: WTF am I watching [Arson] 11:13 am: The butler is always the culprit-> The butler always has a moustache-> The Gryphon has a moustache-> the Gryphon is the butler [Arson] 11:14 am: Hence, the Gryphon did it. [Dvandom] 11:14 am: Codename Stupidhead [scavgraphics] 11:14 am: kahn mane? [Arson] 11:14 am: Joe. Donut Joe. [stevethepocket] 11:15 am: Take your bets: What's the next thing they're going to parody [pao] 11:15 am: overactive imagination much? [Dvandom] 11:15 am: Joe's brain just shut down. [scavgraphics] 11:15 am: con mane? [Skids] 11:16 am: Police squad parody. come on [Dvandom] 11:16 am: Ninja Julia Child. [scavgraphics] 11:16 am: hmmm...so ponies have lasers and ninjas, canon [Arson] 11:16 am: It's official. Neighpon is real. [Arson] 11:17 am: And has donkey shinobi. [stevethepocket] 11:17 am: So, is it a mousse moose or a moose mousse? [Dvandom] 11:17 am: Mousse moose. The material it is made of is adjectival in this case. [Arson] 11:17 am: DAMMIT, PINKIE YOU HAD TO SAY IT! [Skids] 11:17 am: the plot thickens [pao] 11:18 am: wouldn't a mule manufactured mousse moose also be an "Mmmm?" [scavgraphics] 11:18 am: i had a mousse once with waffley antlers [sobana] 11:18 am: I wonder who done did do it? [scavgraphics] 11:18 am: SOBANA DID DONE IT! [Dvandom] 11:18 am: I really hope that song won't be in the Avengers movie. [sobana] 11:18 am: Mmmmm, thick plot [scavgraphics] 11:18 am: Really? Why is the Hawkeye Nerf Bow not in the commerical [sobana] 11:19 am: I no done did do its! =O [Arson] 11:19 am: My inner grammar nazi is having a heart attack. [Dvandom] 11:19 am: Well, whoever ate all those treats will have a thick plot soon. [scavgraphics] 11:19 am: Which shows how good of a criminal you are! [Skids] 11:20 am: The arson you better not read what i write then [scavgraphics] 11:22 am: Pinkie looks good in a hat [scavgraphics] 11:22 am: the deer stalkier doesn't look good on anyone so far [Arson] 11:22 am: Surprisingly so. [scavgraphics] 11:22 am: hee [Dvandom] 11:23 am: It's not so much a deerstalker as a lampshade. [Dvandom] 11:24 am: The Mayor does... [Skids] 11:24 am: dun dun dun [Dvandom] 11:25 am: Yeah, it's Murder on the Orient Express. [Arson] 11:25 am: And she didn't bring extras? [Dvandom] 11:26 am: Moussestache [pao] 11:26 am: that last one was a stretch [Dvandom] 11:27 am: That's one moose that will never welsh on a debt to Don Corlipony again. [pao] 11:27 am: let's face it, this is hideous, though it may be delicious [Guardian Prime] 11:27 am: All those calories! [scavgraphics] 11:28 am: So Celestia and cake is a thing now [sobana] 11:28 am: so it looks like applejack was the only honest one. [Skids] 11:28 am: So for the morale of the episode. Only bring twilight and applejack for desert base transportation. [Arson] 11:28 am: Fits. [Nayuki] 11:28 am: or was she? who could possibly resist Mmmm? [sobana] 11:29 am: Taht or she is the snealiest thief of them all [scavgraphics] 11:29 am: oh...I get it... [scavgraphics] 11:29 am: Con Mane [scavgraphics] 11:29 am: Con Man [sobana] 11:29 am: sneakest* [scavgraphics] 11:29 am: eh [sobana] 11:29 am: curse not having spell check on here! [Dvandom] 11:29 am: No one would suspect the Element of Honesty.... [Skids] 11:29 am: So your implying she had relations with the conducter to serve as a dstraction for her friends to swipe her a piece then. Hmm. [sobana] 11:30 am: also, Rarity wears fake eyelashes [scavgraphics] 11:30 am: we've know that since the GGG [Arson] 11:30 am: We knew that. [sobana] 11:30 am: And Fluttershy wears tail extentions [sobana] 11:30 am: GGG? [sobana] 11:31 am: A lot of self conscience ponies [scavgraphics] 11:31 am: Grand Gaollping Galla [pao] 11:31 am: not bad...I must say Pinkie's one-pony Rashomon was a pleasure to watch, but the climax wasn't entirely climactic [Arson] 11:31 am: THAT'S JUST A RUMOR! <_< >_> [scavgraphics] 11:31 am: Fluttershy was a surprise [sobana] 11:31 am: Everypony thought Pinkie Pie was the one who ate it [scavgraphics] 11:31 am: i figure'd it be aj [Guardian Prime] 11:31 am: I confess! It was me! I did it! It was just so very yummy! I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF! *takes another bite* [sobana] 11:32 am: I like how they dont go for the obvious answer. [Dvandom] 11:32 am: Given the riff on Orient Express, it pretty much had to be "everyone did it" or nearly everyone. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) [sobana] 11:33 am: Was there a Derpy in this one? [Arson] 11:33 am: Easier to do that with cake than with murder. [Arson] 11:33 am: IT WAS HER! Derpy ate everything! [sobana] 11:33 am: No, murder makes sense [sobana] 11:33 am: Derpy! >.< [Dvandom] 11:34 am: They even included the Orient Express's different levels of participation (small bites/stabs versus killing strokes). [sobana] 11:34 am: And of course, now Derpy's muffin entry wins first place >.> [Skids] 11:34 am: Quick look at the screenshots of joe's donut building to see if derpy was hiding in their. [sobana] 11:35 am: We should ask Nayuki [sobana] 11:35 am: The show aired, so he should be able to comment on it [Arson] 11:35 am: *there. [Arson] 11:35 am: Whew! My inner Grammar Nazi is OK. [Nayuki] 11:35 am: I don't know about Derpy in this one. didn't work on it, so not sure if they hid her or not. [sobana] 11:35 am: He said it right the first time, all in context [sobana] 11:36 am: Did you work on the next one? [Nayuki] 11:36 am: yep, part 1 of the wedding is mine [sobana] 11:36 am: Good, then there is a good chance Derpy will be there. [sobana] 11:37 am: I wonder if Luna will be there too, she kinda disappeared again. [Nayuki] 11:37 am: I guess you'll find out in 2 weeks [scavgraphics] 11:38 am: And Lyra crashes the wedding!! [sobana] 11:38 am: Two weeks!? O_O [sobana] 11:38 am: Good, my ban should be lifted by then =p [Nayuki] 11:38 am: 2 part wedding is on the 21rst [Nayuki] 11:38 am: no new episode next week [sobana] 11:38 am: Awe, what a shame [Skids] 11:38 am: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-screamer.gif) [Nayuki] 11:38 am: I know [pao] 11:39 am: shame I won't get to see that live (it's one of the now five things I'm not doing in lieu of the thing I am doing on the 21st) [Nayuki] 11:39 am: I didn't want them to play the episodes back to back [sobana] 11:39 am: The pony forums will die without me! [Dvandom] 11:39 am: New Rescue Bots next week, though. [sobana] 11:40 am: . . . [sobana] 11:40 am: No one on this site watches Transformers, sorry [Skids] 11:40 am: What is these Transformers you speak of? [sobana] 11:41 am: Something about micheal bay, not sure' [Arson] 11:43 am: Right then. Later everypony! [Nayuki] 11:43 am: see ya [Skids] 11:43 am: later [pao] 11:43 am: bye [sobana] 11:43 am: Buh-bye! [The Well]: Arson has left at 11:44 am [sobana] 11:47 am: so sad [sobana] 11:47 am: Two weeks without ponies. [Nayuki] 11:47 am: watch smile song [sobana] 11:47 am: Brilliant! [sobana] 11:47 am: I love the way you think! [The Well]: stevethepocket has left at 11:47 am [sobana] 11:48 am: Nayuki, you ever get stopped on the street and recognized for your work on MLP? [Nayuki] 11:48 am: not yet... [scavgraphics] 11:48 am: gaps are what fan animations are for [sobana] 11:49 am: One of these days I'm jump out from that bush I'm stalking you from and get your autograph [Nayuki] 11:49 am: nah, my handwriting is atrocious [sobana] 11:50 am: sign it in Equstian then [sobana] 11:50 am: With your mouth >.> [scavgraphics] 11:50 am: Sobana..don't stalk the animators [sobana] 11:51 am: Not an animator, a backgorund key layout artist [Skids] 11:51 am: They'll be plenty of time to stalk him once he becomes a guest for those pony convention that are poping up all over the place. [sobana] 11:51 am: Oh right, i'm sure he got his invite already [Nayuki] 11:52 am: ... was thinking of going to Everfree, but I'm too lazy to update my passport, so probably not going to happen. [sobana] 11:52 am: Passport from Canada to America? [Dvandom] 11:53 am: Been needed for a while now. [sobana] 11:54 am: Nah, that is only for the tunnel or bridge, you can take the farry, that doesn't require a passport or one of the billion side roads. [sobana] 11:55 am: There is a town sitting on the border even, you can just walk across the town and enter legally [scavgraphics] 11:55 am: lots of things hitting trees in this episode [sobana] 11:56 am: Haven't notice [Nayuki] 11:57 am: he's talking about the Hurricane Fluttershy repeat [sobana] 11:57 am: ah [scavgraphics] 11:57 am: i really would have liked to have seen derpy flying upside down in the funnel :/ [sobana] 11:58 am: Anyway, there are a lot of Amercian/Canada co-owned property that makes passport trafficing hard to control. If this was any other place in the world, there would of been a war over these places. [Skids] 11:58 am: going to eat lunch. later everyone [sobana] 11:59 am: Buh-bye! [Nayuki] 11:59 am: hmmmm... food [Dvandom] 11:59 am: Time for me to shut down for OS upgrading. Hopefully I'll be back online before too long. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) [sobana] 11:59 am: I would love to stay and chat because I know I won't have the option to do so for the next week, but i got to go as well, love ya! [pao] 11:59 am: looks like a Pound Puppies repeat,so I'll be out as well, fun as usual, all [Nayuki] 11:59 am: ciao [sobana] 11:59 am: Buh-bye! <3 [Dvandom] 12:00 pm: (I'll probably take the opportunity to do a shopping trip.) [The Well]: Skids has left at 12:00 pm [The Well]: Dvandom has left at 12:00 pm [Guardian Prime] 12:00 pm: catch y'all later. Time to find some late breakfast. I just realized that the title is a reference to the cake's name. And is technically missing one "M" in that case.

Either Sibsy's been having a little fun with Berry Punch again, or Nayuki's not the only layout guy who likes to toss in background gags. -------------------- "Pinkie's brain is kind of like a supersonic missile without a targeting system." - Creature SH

Either Sibsy's been having a little fun with Berry Punch again, or Nayuki's not the only layout guy who likes to toss in background gags. Sibsy didn't storyboard this particular episode. As far as background gags, I'm certainly not the only layout artist that likes to toss them in. I'm not sure if that Berry Punch thing was in the storyboards or not. |

That one was really fun, and I liked that several of the clues were actually consistently there from the beginning and not slopped on at the end (you'd be surprised how few cartoons with "mystery" episodes actually do this). I noticed Rarity's mane covering one eye the whole time, but not the false eyelash on the painting (and yeah, I had to check back to see if it was there; and it was!).
Playing a game of Hasbro's "Clue" with the little manilla envelopes was cute, kinda like the faux "Battleship" from a few episodes back. Overall, a very fun Pinkie episode, though I'll admit, I was expecting either Pinkie to have eaten it in her sleep, or Applejack, as she was constantly making suspicious glances. Well, this was an improvement over last week's, that's for sure but still not as great as two weeks before. Pinkie has been hit or miss this season for me.
First the good stuff... * Yay, Fluttershy has lines again! I was actually worried she was gonna be mute again like last week, which would be even more jarring since her VA is rather prominent as Pinkie in this episode. * Pinkie was tolerable, even funny at some points, possibly her best out of her three episodes. * I figured out who the most likely suspects when I saw the preview clip. But still, better than something predictable like Pinkie sleep eating. * Julia Child reference, I don't believe any kid will get that reference. * The mystery aspect was thought out & clearly tried to treat the audience with a little more respect on this one. There are some negatives though... * The cutaways were funny but felt padded & made the actual investigation and resolution rushed. Honestly, more time could've been spent on other plot points. * I have to admit, I can see Rainbow Dash taking a bit, maybe Rarity, but Fluttershy is pushing it a bit. I mean she's the Element of Kindness for crying out loud. They know how important the cake is to Pinkie Pie & should know not to cave into temptation so easily. Still, it's not major character derailment as some episodes **COUGH MAREDOWELL COUGH** & at least they apologized. Grade: B -------------------- ![]() |

Ok, just what is that cake made of? Dark Matter? BigMacintosh, the pony who can pull a HOUSE with little to no effort, can barely carry it.
And how do Flutters and RD manago to balance it if BigM can barely lift it? Not a huge thing, but i tend to get annoyed by such inconsistencies. Still, a decent episode, not my favorite, but decent. Nice to see more griffons though. EDIT- Rarity going full dramaqueen about the eyelashes, and "oh, and i took bite out of the cake", was awesome. Also liked when she complemented Pony Jeo on his looks, especially after what Twilight said (must be a nice ego boost). This post has been edited by J4n1: Apr 8 2012, 02:22 AM |

This was a pretty fun episode. True, it was very light on the actual investigation and the mystery was wrapped up very quickly, but those cutaways were pretty darn funny. They also give an interesting look at the kind of mental filters Pinkie seems to be using to see the world through. Boy, every day must be some kind of adventure for that one, lol. I also really liked how each cutaway kind of shifted styles to accommodate what was being parodied. It was a bit like that Powerpuff Girls episode 'The Bare Facts', which was one of the better efforts from that series; though that was more a Rashomon effect whereas this was just Pinkie being nutty. This episode wasn't quite as good as Season 1's pre-finale Pinkie episode, but it was very enjoyable nonetheless. Sleeping Pinkie was absolutely adorable; and apparently she's part dog.
Carrot Top and Berry Punch fawning all over Pony Joe in the Bond parody made me chuckle, I have to admit. Though Twi was a little mean in her description of the poor guy. You wouldn't normally expect her to be so insensitive (especially as she seemed reasonably familiar with him in Canterlot, and is a customer at his shop). I also liked the way Rarity boosted him up afterwards (judging by the look on his face, he really appreciated it, too)... and if you look at Twi, she's staring at Rarity slack-jawed while she says it, heh. Another thing I liked about this was Pinkie and Twilight's dynamic. They make a good (and funny) team, by and large, and I really liked Twi's patient encouragement this time around (she's learning, I guess). I'm starting to think she's a bit of a germaphobe/mysophobe, though. She didn't seem to like Winona licking her face, either; and now wiping down the bubble pipe, lol. I mean, when dealing with people you don't know very well, I get it, but for friends it hardly matters. We're all mostly water, anyway. I did notice Rarity's hair had changed, but I had to go back to see the eyelash on the picture that people were talking about. That's pretty impressive for a kid's show, to bother with that level of consistency. But I'm not sure why Rarity got so bent out of shape about having to admit she wears fake eyelashes. We already knew she did, from the opening scene of 'The Best Night Ever'; and all her friends must've known it, too. I didn't get the Julia Child reference 'til I saw it mentioned in the thread. I agree very few children would ever notice that. I've never been big on cooking programs, and the last time I heard anything about Julia Child (seriously) was when my uncle had bought a brand new Windows 95 PC (the first time I'd ever used that OS), and my aunt was pretty excited about this little gem from the Microsoft Home software line, lol. Personally, I spent more time playing Microsoft Hover. But really, since when is Rainbow able to successfully hide from Pinkie? There's always been an amusing futility in her efforts before. Maybe it only works when Pinkie knows who she's chasing? Ok, just what is that cake made of? Dark Matter? BigMacintosh, the pony who can pull a HOUSE with little to no effort, can barely carry it. I thought it was less that the cake was heavy and more that it was finely balanced and he was trying not to topple it. Yeah, sometimes it's less the weight of something and more its dimensions, shape, or even the structure of it that make it unweildy to try and relocate. I can see a giant cake like that being a huge pain in the flank to move around. Was I the only one thinking that Dessert Car should've been refrigerated? Julia Child was an author (culinary art books mostly, I think) and popular television chef, among other things. She was on TV as far back as the 1970s, I believe, so it's unlikely kids today would've really heard of her.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_Child The reference to her in this episode was Mulia Mild, the competitor with that Chocolate Mousse Moose (someone seriously needs to make this in real life, lol). Mulia's accent was also somewhat reminiscent of Julia Child's accent, IIRC. This post has been edited by TM2-Megatron: Apr 8 2012, 04:45 AM -------------------- ![]() |

Somehow I doubt at Mousse made of Moose would taste quite as good as a Moose made of Mousse (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-wildride.gif) . -------------------- ![]() |
