Not a ton of information about this but I just found some of the first pictures of the show.

It's an all CGI show that will start on the Hub this summer. I get the impression that Cheer Bear and Share Bear will be the main characters but it's kind of hard to tell from this limited information. I think they're hoping to have a My Little Pony type revival with this show. I'm looking forward to it, though it's hard to get much of an idea of quality until the show starts.

So who used to watch this show when they were a kid? I had a Care Bears lunch box when I was in 3rd grade. Good times...

If Care Bears turns out to be good, does it make us look sillier than MLP does? Or not? I'm not sure.

Well, I hope it's good, I guess.

I already saw a new care bears show. Traditional animation... Evil bear that seemed to have built his a cyborg suit of armor.

I didn't get much from it, it was on in the background while I was watching my nephew about 6 months back.

Well they appear to be adhering to the old designs, said designs are what initially made me avoid them when I was a child and I don't think they've improved by CGI or age.

I was willing to give MLP: FiM the benefit of the doubt because the newer designs looked ok (and yes, the rave/raving reveiws), but this... probably not nearly so much. And no, I don't have any idea how you could remake the Care Bear's design so I wouldn't think it crap.

If the show catches on in the male fandom as much as MLP did, be ready for even more judging.

As far as 1980s Adam is concerned My Little Pony was lame and for girls but the Care Bears were really cool. I think this franchise has less improvement necessary to make it good, whereas MLP came out of nowhere. Because of this I'd say less silly...

I don't know how this hasn't happened yet. Maybe live action shows like Hannah Montana have filled that niche. They want a real person to put behind their music to sell albums and such.

Surely they've been making new Care Bears shows for years and I don't think they've been worth paying attention to. I'm hoping this one will be different.

What is it you don't like about them? They're basically modeled after plush toys.

I grew up with the original Care Bears series. Both of them. The Nelvana one and whichever other one was pretty much exactly like it and I think even used the same theme song. And I'm pretty sure there's not room in a franchise like that for the kind of reimagining that made My Little Pony into what it is today. Plus, TV CGI has never, ever not sucked.

When the '80s happen all over again, I reckon. You pretty much can't get any more '80s than Jem, and if they reimagined her as a generically 2010s character, everyone who cared enough to want her back in the first place would rage.

Beastly and Shreeky were the best. The fact that Shreeky shared a voice actress with Sailor Moon was pretty rad.

We already got a new Jem. But it was live action, and called Hannah Montana. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

Seriously, though, any new Jem is going to have to compete with the fact that Hannah Montana still (via reruns) dominates that particular space. Even if Hasbro could deflect criticisms of being a HM ripoff, it's still probably too soon to try to take over that niche.

We have to add Jimmy Newtron to the list. Like it or hate it, that show had a fanbase. I certainly watched it.

As for this new Care Bears... Meh. I liked the movies, but I recall finding most of the show to be kinda subpar.

While it's the wrong franchise, I'll confess to a liking for the Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak (insert dance here).

Not really, no.

He also left out Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Which I don't care for.

We can squabble about the specifics, but unless you have some weird disfunction, you have to find at least 1 or 2 of the shows mentioned in this threat to be quite good. I mean really... does anyone at the AllSpark actually dislike Beast Wars? I can't imagine why you would even be here...

It's ironic. I am actually not a fan of Transformers. I ended up making an account here because Database would CONSTANTLY link me to threads, and I spent so much time reading them that I finally figured I might as well be a member. But when it comes to Transformers, I just never got into any of the shows.

...EXCEPT Beast Wars. For whatever reason I loved that one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)
