There's a thought that's been nagging at me, and as Cybertron becomes more and more Transformer-hostile and the lack of sanitation/etc Wheeljack brings up this issue also mounts up it just becomes clearer - what is actually KEEPING anyone here beyond sheer stubborn masochism?

The Autobots were able to fly off to Earth to pick up "King Bee", Prowl & co, and most of the neutrals/"Nails" apparently have functioning ships, after all. Why don't the former fly off to Gorlam Prime or somewhere, and why don't the latter either follow or head back to where they came from?

If there was a vaguely functional infrastructure and - more importantly - a planet that might not kill them all any second (what's even keeping the Iacon area "safe"?) I could understand why they'd choose to stay, or if they all got teleported there without a ship like the Decepticons and had no choice... Well, they'd have to deal. But this seems like one giant pissing contest.

If I recall, the Nails returned in response to a signal that Cybertron sent out. They've been gone so long, all they want is their home back. Sure they have to acclimate to a new world with hostile environments. It would be no different if they collectively relocated to a new world that could sustain them all. If they went back to a previous colony, the balance of power would tip toward whomever ran the colony before they left. If they all separated again, there's no hope of rebuilding their society proper. They are effectively pushing out into the wild, untamed west. They must adapt to survive as a species and as a society.

@Somebody:

Another factor I assume is in play (although it hasn't been mentioned yet) is that a renewed Cybertron means a renewed natural source of energon. For the last 500 years (even longer for the NAILs), Cybertronians have been living off of artificial and impure energon derivatives found or made on other worlds. A pure, regenerating source of energon literally growing on trees (or the equivalent), must be a big selling point for staying on Cybertron these days.

Don't underestimate sentiment either.

This is the homeworld. No matter how long they've been away it's still home.

-ZacWilliam, I assume their are "NAILs" without an emotional connection to Cybertron but most of those probably would have just stayed in their distant colonies. The ones that returned are largely those that really care I think. Though I'd LOVE to see more development given to the NAILs to flesh that out.

Yeah, everyone in the comic is people who came to Cybertron specifically because they wanted to live there instead of wherever they already were.

Thanks. Given three mentions of the missing moon in recent comics, I'd wager it's going to be important soon...

Maybe it was secretly Unicron.

"Getting called a crony by Starscream is like...it's like a simile I'd use to describe a less obviously ironic thing."

Possibly the best line I've read in a Transformers story.

You know what's interesting... Peace through tyranny seems to be Stalinism...

While Starscream entering the coalition government seems to be liberal socialism.

While this comic is still miles better of what Costa ever did, I am liking it less and less. Maybe because MTMTE is so much more fun to read, I dunno...

Prowl is becoming more and more off from his Furman/Roche portrayal. He is giving in to his emotions a lot of times, and straight-out considers the Cons 'animals'. Not to mention he is a pathetic liar... I had to laugh, so he expects people to believe that Ratbat got so depressed, he chopped his wing and legs off and nailed himself to a wall? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) Seriously? Not to mention that the super-smart guy suddenly lost ALL forms of tact, and constantly keeps calling the neutrals 'NAILS' even though he knows well he only angers them that way. I like my Prowl more calculating and smart. This guy is a sarcastic police detective, not a high-ranking string-pulling magnificient bastard.

Arcee is still a psycho, which is... odd, considering (s)he only had a grudge against Jhiaxus and was pretty normal in HoD.

Silverbolt and the Aerialbots suddenly pull a turn straight out of Marvel G1, stealing Grimlock's act (seriously, where ARE the dinobots?) and marching off angrily. Barrel-Roll had "hi-then-die" written on him from the get-go, anyway.

I did enjoy the parts with Wheeljack, though.

My problem with the new comics is, I like to read about Decepticons as much as Autobots, and they are pretty much all in RID (unless you count Tailgate and Cyclonus). And I don't like how this writer handles them.

Ugh, I can't seem to find this issue anywhere despite it coming out almost three weeks ago. A retailer told me that it hasn't come out here in Canada yet, but that just sounds odd. =/
