The head reminds me of Jazz's from FoC for some reason but obviously it's a Decepticon.

Could it be one of the guys from the upcoming set? Just wondering: he looks familiar but I can't place him (not that my knowledge is anywhere near the level of Walky).

Oh, and how long before someone can take the preview pages, and edit the word balloons so the discussion is all about Overlord's poutty lips?

Ursa Magnus being in Axiom Nexus does present something of a plot hole.

There are no lowtech Primes, Magnuses, Hot Rods, Starscreams, Megatrons, or any of their doppelgangers in Axiom Nexus. On purpose. You know, to keep trouble from happening. Those folks get kicked out before they even know they're in it, booted back to their home universe. I would think Ursa Magnus would be included in that.

Were Magnuses included in that rule? I always thought it was just applicable to Primes/Convoys and Megatrons.

For Ursa, if this helps, "Magnus" is a rank handled in the same way "Prime" and such was in the Animated continuity. I always handled it in the following order: Minor, Major, Maximus, Magnus, Prime. So he has the rank of Magnus, and nothing more. No different than having a military title of Lieutenant-Commander or Commander under a Captain.

He is in no way related to or descended from Ultra Magnus. He's just a guy who got promoted to that rank in his dimension's military hierarchy.

Well, specifically "Matrix-bearers" and "charismatic leader-types."

Ultra Magnuses have Matrices in several continuities. And in Animated, Magnus is the top-ranking everything, making him the Optimus Prime-analog of that continuity family.

Also, we've never seen a lowtech Magnus in an Axiom Nexus story.

Granted.

Heh, well I guess it's something I never had to really consider given that he's a fan character and I never thought he'd get an actual TFWiki entry.

And Axiom Nexus made sense from a story perspective given what happened to him at the end of Drivaaar's "Out of Time" story. It made sense that thrown through time might end him up in Axiom Nexus. Plus, Pete was kind enough to allow me to use it as the setting for the Allspark Sourcebook.

And... maybe we should continue this discussion to the Wiki thread? I don't want to derail discussion of the pages any more than necessary.

Hrm... Looks like this was a wink wink nod nod that I missed lol. No biggie as Beamers and Nightvipers character appeared in Axiom years back (and no one caught that)

Anyways, short answer - He's TT Ursa Magnus

We have seen a Lowtech Megatron, though. Albeit BW Megs

Had Pete not just posted a reason, I'd just say he somehow got in the same way BW Megatron was there

I am shamed to admit that I still have no idea who the Decepticon on this screen is: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:InvasionPrologue-Rhinox.jpg

I feel like it should be obvious, and once it is pointed out, I will cry for days.

I first thought SG Treadshot or an upcoming recolor. Is that a red faction symbol?

Indeed, and I'm grateful for the nod.

Now you have to ask permission before using Ursa Magnus.

Wouldn't Funpub have to ask him permission to use his IP (not like he wouldn't give it of course)? Or would the character be PD because Ursa Magnus didn't put copyright notices on it?

Ursa Magnus was already a derivative work based in Hasbro's shared universe. There is no real way to claim copyright on him unless you're Hasbro or a licensee.

Eh, I lost interest in the very first panel. I'm not a big fan of the Transformers multiverse schtick, but it's as capable of having a good story as any other setting. However, heavy-handed sci-fi narration about the Transformers multiverse already tells me that this is going in a direction I won't care for. I don't go to Transformers for hard sci-fi -- there's too much of that available better elsewhere, and it's not what I like about the TF franchise in the first place.

I sorta knew it was coming based on this year's theme, but I suppose I was hoping we'd get something with less Star-Trek technobabble. To me, that stuff is just trying too hard to be something Transformers really isn't.

But, obviously plenty of people like it. Nothin' wrong with that. just not my thing at all.
