According to fiction, all jet formers can fly in bot mode. I never liked the idea of magically flying robots, but thr aerial bots kibble forms kind of jet pack.

Which episodes did they fly in bot mode? I am sure Superion could but I don't recall the guys being able to.

I'm pretty sure the Aerialbots couldn't fly in robot mode, or at least were never shown to, in the cartoon. Superion could, but not the individuals.

They're giant robots and I'm a squishy human. If they want to fly in robot mode, I'm not going to stop them.

I'm pretty sure I remember them doing so in some episodes as well...

Of course, come Season 3, it seemed like everyone could, except when they couldn't.

Everybody take an Aerialbots episode from the wiki at random and watch. First person to find them flying in bot mode when not in outer space ( I'm looking at you season 3) wins a virtual cookie.

-ZacWilliam, shaped like Nightbeat. Cause if you're gonna win a virtual cookie it should be cool.

The Dreamwave MTMTE bios for all the Aerialbots except Fireflight mentions they can fly in robot mode, which is a rare ability among Autobots. So 4 of them can fly as robots in that continuity.

The Tech Spec, MTMTE and Transformers Universe entry for Superion says he can fly at 800 MPH. So that's pretty much all G1/G2 continuities.

Some of the question probably stems from that time Silverbolt transformed to blast something in mid-air and then began falling without attempting to fly. I think he said "Goodbye cruel world!" But one could assume this was because he was so petrified of heights that he couldn't think straight.

Just watched Key to Vector Sigma.

Silverbolt definately CANNOT fly there. He falls, as said above, when he turns into robot mode and would have died if Slingshot hadn't swooped in in jet mode and caught him.

-ZacWilliam, the Cartoon always had the strongest Autobots can't fly rule anyway.

Remember that time when ALL the Autobots flew to that Oil Rig?

The rule wasn't that strong, ZacWilliam. It developed over time.

Anyway, I just recently re-watched the season 2 eps featuring the Aerialbots, and I don't recall them flying in their robot modes. That said, I wasn't looking for it, so I could have missed a one-off incident.

Yeah, MTMTE was really inconsistent as to whether or not the Autobots could fly.

I say the Autobots used tiny disposable jet packs.

I'd just like to add that in TFvs. GI Joe, the Marvel one, Superion has an aerial battle with Devastator.

Yeah they can't fly. The only Autobots that could fly in the G1 cartoon (consistantly) were the Dinobots (because the majority of their alt modes were so slow).

Not counting things like Sky Lynx which is obviously and exception.
