I would have thought from the movie that he was at least 10 or 11. But Headmasters is set 6 years later, right? And he seems younger than he does in the movie.

10 or so. Head Masters is only a year later than Season 3/2010 in the Japanese continuity.

From what I've seen, they've never explained Daniel's age disparity with The Movie being in 2005 and 2010 (the Japanese version of the third season) being in, well, 2010.

It's the result of some sort of technobabble exposure to something, obviously.

The crazy Kiss Players everything-fits-into-G1 timeline actually did retcon in an explanation - between 2005 and 2010, he was in cryogenic stasis due to an injury.

either that or in stasis until they got to that other planet in headmasters and set up a space bridge portal...

sure living in space with giant robots is cool and all.. but spending 10-15 looking out the same one window?

yeah put me in the freezer too

Space Bridges are super fast and convenient and so are Robot Trains. But interstellar travel never really seemed to take that long in Transformers anyway.

well for the robots..no, lol but

"what's 5 years?" is a different prospect for a million year old robot and a 10 year old kid.

Okay, this is peculiar...I remember Quez reading it in one of the timelines, I remember transcribing it, and there's an invisible-ified note about it on Daniel's page on the wiki...but I can't for the life of me find where we originally posted it. Frustrating!

This is the thing. I asked this before on the Wiki and couldn't get an answer. It *doesn't* appear to be in either of the timelines, so far as I can see. One was in the Kiss Players book, which covered all of history, the other was on the Atari/Autorooper packaging, which I *think* just covered the events of KP itself - the J-G1 timeline on the wiki is both of those timelines put together.

Aha! Found it!

We were starting to think we were crazy too, since we looked through both timelines and couldn't find anything.

And the reason is because it's not in the timeline proper, but in the "Encyclopedia" section of the Doctor Bronner-like printing all over the Autrooper's packaging.

Under "Daniel", it says "A young American boy whom Hot Rodimus befriended on Earth before the Unicron War. When Transformers and humanity were at odds, he escaped to space with his father Spike and others. There, he was involved in an accident and is currently in cold sleep."

None of this explains why he seemed to regress and become a five year old in Headmasters.

Maybe it was a brain injury.

(Given how geeky the KP timeline is, it's probably the injury from when he was chomped by a robot dinosaur.)
