Not sure if this is 3rd party, as I think this was licensed by Radio Shack from the same people who licensed Shockwave to to Hasbro, but I saw the Galactic Man in box on ebay and I'd forgotten it was sold as having FOUR modes! Robot, Anti Aircraft Gun, Vulcan Base Destroyer, and handgun modes.

I also love that he came with an "OWNERS MANUAL".

You'd forgotten about the other two "modes" because they're largely forgettable.

Fascinating.

Don't fail to see Nyarlathotep if he comes to Providence. He is horrible — horrible beyond anything you can imagine — but wonderful. He haunts one for hours afterward. I am still shuddering at what he showed.

What I love about it is that the two extra modes just seem to be steps in his transformation. Like someone looked at the instructions and gave the steps names.

Astro Magnum had three modes (the third being the gun emplacement mode pictured in the lower right corner). That fourth mode on the lower left is... totally made up, which is not exactly unheard of for the odd transforming figure in the '80s.

Kind of like the G1 Scorponok KO that says he has something like 7 modes which are all just random limb placements and transformation steps.

Totally made up? It's clearly a Vulcan Base Destroyer! ;-) What other weapon would you use to destroy a Vulcan Base?

Yeah, saying "You can stop transforming him at any point you want" would be more honest, but "Four figures" sounds more impressive.

And I'd hate to let my enemies conquer the universe just because I was in a hurry to get to robot mode.

Jonathan Archer once used the power of honesty, I believe.

That made me laugh. I needed that.

I had a couple of those watches. So "battle station" mode is just the robot hand stand. And apparently the "galactic shuttle" only works in the missionary position.
