Okay, seeing as no one else has posted anything about it...

I feel like it could've used at least one more issue. No offense to any of the people involved in the production, but it felt rushed.

That said, Optimus Prime taking on Cthulhu? Awesome.

Just read both issues, they went so fast it really needed more issues.

And while it was great returning to the Hearts of Steel universe, there were more Humans and Fish people then there were Transformers.

I also feel a little cheated, or maybe bait-and-switched, I was going to skip this but the first issue featured the Seacons, my favorite combiner team getting some page time, and I was hoping then end would be the Autobots fighting a cool Steampunk/Lovecraft Piranacon.

And they don't even appear in the second issue. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-screamer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-megs.gif)

Like I said it was great seeing the HoS-verse again, but I'd say the first Infestation was much better.

Could have been so much better. And how did Prime have a train mode before he even woke up?

"Hey Optimus Prime, what happened?"
"Oh, I just beat up Cthulhu offscreen."

What!?!

No steampunk Piranacon in a Cthulhu pretender shell? Or even Octopunch, who should have been in this story?!

I feel cheated...

Then again, these crossovers will culminate in a final issue, maybe something will happen there.

I hope Guido shares some of the Seacon designs, or Bonecrusher, later on.

Yeah, it would've been great to see!

Agreed. When a great shape rose out of the water, I was really hoping for Piranacon. Oh well.

This story felt like it was riding heavily on the established popularity and knowledge of both Cthulhu and TF. Dixon seemed way more interested in spending time with the humans. At least he's good with period dialect.

The art was gorgeous, though! Guidi's still at the top of his game. It would've been interesting to see Su take it on in his new Mignola-esque style - it would've been the closest thing to a TF/Hellboy crossover - but Guidi's style works very well too. Speaking of visuals, I noticed Wheeljack wielding swords. Ah, cross-pollination.

Dixon sure likes to set things up and then run out of room and then resolve everything in two pages sorta.

I agree the pacing was terrible, but it goes beyond that. For all the time spent on it, the setup wasn't really much of a setup at all. If Dixon had had 5-10 more pages to play out the conclusion, I don't know what else would've happened based on what came before. With the first Infestation, the solution was inherent in the nature of the problem: The zombies came from another universe, and they ended up banished to a third one. But there was no apparent solution to not-Cthulhu, who was portrayed as basically this really old creature who's been on Earth forever. The protagonists were focused on reviving Prime, but even as I was reading it I was wondering how and why his return would change anything. Unless he was going to use the Matrix (which hasn't been seen in this universe yet) as a weapon, what difference would one more TF make? The closest thing to Chekov's gun I could see was Tesla's electricity, which I suppose worked in the Real Ghostbusters, but would still have had the same fundamental problems as Prime's actual "solution." Maybe BB Shockwave's right, and we'll see the real climax in the primary Infestation comics.

Mostly it reminded me of the first Hearts of Steel crossover. All setup, no real conflict or resolution.

Ah, right, I'd forgotten he did that one too. I wonder what the outlines looked like that he showed the editors before he wrote them.

Wasn't HOS originally going to be 6 issues though? Hence the rushed conclusion?

Yeah, and this was supposed to be two issues from the start, as per the format of the last Infestation crossover. That excuse doesn't really carry over this time.

Yeah, in the first HoS we got a rushed ending because (The) Astrotrain forgot he can, yknow... fly.

Pretty disappointing..oh well. I still appreciate what we got, but that offscreen fight at the end was terrible.

I'm glad I waited and only paid $1.99 for this on Comixology. I'd have felt even more cheated if I paid full price for it.
