So while on a TFwiki binge, I cam across an sandbox on Gender in TF's that got some wheels in my head turning.
What if Hasbro had actually decided to make some of the original G1 figures female from the get go? Back in the 80's Boys lines had no females typically (Scarlet, Lady Jane, and Cheetara being the only ones I recall off the top of my head), so what if suddenly Hasbro had decided to shake that trend and G1 had more female characters in it as their competitor Gobots did (Crasher and Smallfoot being main cast members as well as many supporting fems). Would molds with prominent... chests (Jazz, Prowl, Shockwave) have been good candidates, or would Tracks have been a fem all along perhaps. Would we have seen versions of Roadrage and Discharge in the casts perhaps? Thoughts, comments? -------------------- Clearing out some old TFs and Mugenbine in my BST Thread. You know you want some of these.

It would be my guess that female characters would still have been limited to the Minibots only. Just because it would be easier to "get away" with doing something like that as long as it's one of the cheapest toys in the line.

Wow. I had somehow missed this revelation. THAT would have been a pretty interesting character, Sooo... And I don't know if I really wanna ask this... But has anyone tried to imagine/sketch how a Deryized female version of the a Ratchet toy would have looked? -ZacWilliam, makes me wonder if there was ever a planed Con counterpart. Usually you got one girl on each side in the 80s... This post has been edited by ZacWilliam1: Feb 15 2012, 01:37 PM -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

She probably would have been a jet, regardless. Starscream as female would have made an interesting dynamic... -------------------- ***Signature removed by Staff due to size restrictions. Please keep to 500X200 images and text included.***

Crazy. I thought it was going to be a link to TFA Red Alert being female and then getting replaced with Ratchet, but this is even more revelatory. |

Ehh, given how G1 was, they would have probably spend most of their time being saved by the guys. Not to mention all the cringe-worthy jokes around 'those crazy women lol'.

He sounds like Mr. Howell from Gilligan's Island, but that's it. |

its just 'a thing' the fans older than me came up with...
WAY WAY back when Generation 2 first became 'G2' and retroactively created the fanterm "G1" ramjet also likes toast and never let Skywarp near you and a set of stairs This post has been edited by Destron D-69: Feb 15 2012, 06:09 PM -------------------- ![]() |

See, for me (no comics, ignoring the toy bios, going only by the cartoon), G1 always had femmes. G1 was over by the time I realized that Swoop (with the chest, narrow waist, long legs, ponytail, and high-pitched voice) and Wheelie (with the high-pitched voice, childbearing hips, and tomboyish "baseball cap") were supposed to be guys.
And no, it never seemed the least bit noteworthy to me that there was a girl among the Dinobots. I understood that girls are more than capable of Smashing Stuff when they want to (hell, one of my grade-school bullies was a girl, and she left as many bruises and bloody noses as the guys). -------------------- ![]() |

I wish people wouldn't use words like Fems and Femmes. Dunno why, but it makes me uncomfortable.
Also Soundwave would totally have been female. -------------------- Don't fail to see Nyarlathotep if he comes to Providence. He is horrible — horrible beyond anything you can imagine — but wonderful. He haunts one for hours afterward. I am still shuddering at what he showed. |
