A great start to the new season.

HIGHLIGHT to view:
The episode starts off with Ratchet summizing the events of the end of Season 1 and explaining how Optimus must have reverted to his Orion Pax mindset due to using up the power of the Matrix.

Megatron making sure the Decepticons make Optimus Prime comfortable while at the Nemesis. Explaining his condition and the fact they must not ever call him Optimus Prime. Airachnid questions Megatron's decision and then tells her that nothing occurs on this ship without his knowing (hinting at her betrayal from the previous episode). Then Knock Out is burning the Decepticon emblem into Optimus' shoulder.

Que title sequence.

The Autobots can't track Optimus since he entered the Earth's core and are unable to locate him. Ratchet explains the existence and purpose of Vector Sigma (holding the knowledge of the Prime's and an ancient source of power on Cybertron).

Megatron then explains to Optimus he was a captive of the Autobots in stasis for years. He then shows him the wrecked Cybertron, thanks to the warlord Ratchet and the Autobots.

We then cut back to the Autobots and the humans and June and Agent Fowler state that the kids (Jack in particular) can't go to Cybertron. Jack has to go due to Optimus giving him the key to Vector Sigma, that it's now imprinted with his bio signature and is the only one capable of using it. Miko than asks why the Ground Bridge can't be suped up to get them to Cybertron.

Megatron continues to explain what's happened to Cybertron by the "Doctor of Doom" and why they're called Decepticons. Optimus swears allegiance to Megatron's cause and to stop Ratchet and the Autobots.

Megatron has Soundwave expunge the data tracks in the Nemesis to make sure Optimus doesn't stumble on to sensitive info.

Jack, working at KO Burger, speaks with Sierra who is interrupted by Arcee (who Sierra thinks is his girlfriend, and jealous) but Jack says it's his mom. Jack asks if anyone has spotted Optimus yet, but Arcee states they haven't.

Megatron has given Optimus free reign of the ship, but is keeping a close eye on him having his station near the Energon storage vault.

Meanwhile Ratchet is trying to sup up the Ground Bridge.

Orion is decoding Autobot archives for Megatron (Megatron stole the data tracks in a raid on Cybertron), dubbed Project Iacon, to keep him busy and gain intelligence. Orion discovers the locations of super weapons. Megatron urges Orion to continue his deciphering. Orion asks about Starscream, who appears in many of Megatron's data tracks, and Megatron states Starscream is dead. Megatron starts to suspect Orion will soon discover the ruse as he asks too many questions, and hopes that he will finish his work before his sense of good overcomes him / he finds out too much.

Fowler alerts the Autobots that the Decepticons are attacking the same military lab they attacked two months ago (which is how long the first 5 parter was apparently). Breakdown and Knock Out steal a power source (for a new space bridge) and escape. But Arcee follows them and gets into the Nemesis, going on a rampage (destroying Vehicons) looking for Optimus (this is the scene they showed at Toy Fair 2012).

Optimus hears the sounds of battle and goes to investigate. Megatron tells Soundwave he must escort Arcee off the ship before she runs into Optimus (that she must not run into Optimus or be destroyed). Just as Arcee is about to mow down Soundwave in bike form he opens up a ground bridge and teleports her to Arctic.

Arcee back at base wasn't able to confirm Optimus' location or the ship's. The Autobots begin to fight each other, with Jack (and the other kids) being the voice of reason. He comes up with the idea that the Autobots should let them build their space bridge so that the Autobots and Jack can use it to take them to Cybertron. The Autobots still question Jack's plan stating that it'll be difficult to locate the space bridge as it could be on the Earth this time (and that they've been monitoring space and seen no evidence of a new one).

Starscream then sneaks on the Nemesis behind some Jet Vehicons. Starscream runs into some other Vehicons and they tell him that Megatron has ordered him to be taken into custody if he returns. Starscream kills the Vehicons. He then goes into the Energon vault and steals some Energon. Other Decepticons are approaching, so Starscream looks for a place to hide. He runs into Orion's work station and finds Optimus, drops the energon, and prepares to fire.

To Be Continued...

Thoughts:

This episode was fantastic and a great continuation of the last 2. HIGHLIGHT to view:
Megatron's plan, while it could be easily unraveled (and he knows it) is extremely tight and the writers do a great job of covering just about every possible angle and explanation there could be for various loop holes or problems. The Autobot infighting is great and you get a very good impression of how everything starts to fall apart for them without Optimus around. Soundwave continues to be a complete bad ass without even lifting a finger.

Loved it, and I can't wait for the next episode!

Randy

I haven't read all of Randy's spoilers, but I really liked what I saw from the ten minute preview available through FiOS on demand and will definitely be watching on Saturday.

-more specifically-
HIGHLIGHT to view:
The preview ended on the Nemesis as Prime discussed his initial decryption results

It's nice to see the humans' civilian again, and town looks like it's finally been settled. Seeing Sierra again was a pleasant suprise and inspires hope of some good inter-episode continuity.

I do enjoy this Megatron just as much as Animated and Beast Wars, Frank is doing a great job making him sound exactly like G1. I was hoping they would run the 3 parter together like the first season but I can't complain too much. Where did you catch the rest of this episode btw?

At Hasbro's Media Event / Toy Fair 2012 they gave out free screening discs of the this episode and of the first episode of Rescue Bots to those who attended.

Toy Fair is always in New York City. For Hasbro's Media Event (at Toy Fair) you have to represent a site that Hasbro acknowledges and allows two users to attend from said site.

Ok, somewhat like other comic or toy based fairs. Well only 2 days until the next season, can't wait to see what they have in store for us.

Well, that was pretty awesome. When exactly did Prime sneak from being a show that felt like it was struggling to find itself to OMG I want the next episode?

I have to wonder how quickly Orion Pax will go back to Optimus, and how much of him will remain. Season 1 told us that Prime just couldn't enjoy himself or relax, so maybe the whole experience will make him more of an emotional and expressive bot.

Anyhow, I really enjoyed the Arcee scenes. And Starscream's.

Wow, That was pretty amazing.

I think Arcee's action scene was the highlight of the episode. Especially the end.

Megatron's master plan is to have Optimus do library science? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-silverbolt.gif)

Also, Soundwave continues to be the best character on the show. So awesome.

That was a really good episode. It was cool to hear Peter Cullen emote a bit.

I'm not normally a person that tries to see references in everything, but they name dropped both Exodus and War for Cybertron in this episode.
Deliberate?

Oh, and some of those coordinates that Pax is finding better lead to some of the macguffins from last season.

It's not just the fans, now Arcee is bagging on Miko for her poor decision making. Bwaha.

She's tenacious, too. Arcee gets some of the best combat sequences.

The Arcee action scenes really highlight how great the CG is compared to the stiff 'action' scenes from Energon and even Cybertron; it's good to see Hasbro get its money's worth.

On a related note, scale nuts are going to fits over the bit where Arcee transformed mid-battle and that minuscule motorcycle wizzed past the Vehicon's head

The second half definitely lived up to the preview I watched, can't wait to see part two

I'm glad people liked it. I laughed out loud when Arcee poked fun at Miko.
