So my wife sent me this today, apparently a mammoth was recorded walking through a river in Siberia.

The "trunk" doesn't seem as brown as the rest of the creature. What do you all think?

The 'trunk' is pretty clearly separate from the rest of the animal. Probably a bear with a fish.

Looks like Snuffy.

So when the filmmakers saw that, why didn't they try to move in for a clearer view with their camera?

Someone for real thought that was something other than a bear with a fish in its mouth?

That one's probably also either fake (or just a big snake), but it's more interesting than 'Obviously-Not-A-Mammoth' up there. -------------------- |

That's clearly a bear with a fish in its mouth.

The 'trunk' is pretty clearly separate from the rest of the animal. Probably a bear with a fish. That's a bear with a large fish . Note how the trunk never moves. Also, no sign of tusks or the 'mammoth's ears. And generally, the way it moves and the shape of the head makes it 100% clear to me that's a brown bear. (trust your friendly neighboor biologist on this). Also, at this age and year, I don't believe in "my camera could only make a blurry shot" arguments anymore. I can make better videos with my not-smart phone. People who have no idea about how stuff like Photoshop or video editing software works will also believe any hoax these days. My father, who only started browsing the web a few years ago keeps sending me stuff like THIS as undisputable truth and a proof of conspiracies and aliens and whatnot. As a die-hard sceptic, you can obviously guess my frustration at it. That one's probably also either fake (or just a big snake), but it's more interesting than 'Obviously-Not-A-Mammoth' up there. Fake, rather. Snakes don't have a head this big compared to their bodies. Also note how the thing never sinks despite hardly moving or waving anything and it doesn't have any fins to support it... Wait...The Sun is clearly emblazoned on that vid...why are people taking it seriously beyond that? I don't see why that on its own would mean people wouldn't take it seriously; The fact that the whole idea is so ridiculous, on the other hand, should have everyone going in sceptical. And of course, it's obviously not a mammoth, but some people will believe it I guess. This post has been edited by Amadeus Windfall: Feb 10 2012, 05:27 AM |

Ugh it's going to be nice when in a few years everyone has ultra hd high zoom camcorders built into there phones so we don't get so much ghost hunters crap. True ghost/cryptid/whatever hunters would never use such a thing! They're chock full of filters and image altering gadgets that make exciting and interesting but highly implausible things look like normal, everyday stuff. Like the Youtube filters that made what was clearly a mammoth to those filming it into a dumb old brown bear with a fish. Blah! |

It's clearly a joke article, yet there are still people who are going to take this seriously.
This isn't a difficult concept. -------------------- |
