I know the are all "official," but which series, Generation 2, Classics, or Regeneration One is the continuation of the G1 comics?

Regeneration One is staking a claim by having the issues numbered in sequence, starting with #80.5 and going to #100.

Generation 2 deliberately sets itself apart. It is a different franchise. It deliberately sets a new style and tone. Criminy, the first issue boldly declares "this is not your father's Autobot" on the cover, so I think it is undermines its own claim to be the definitive continuation. On the other hand, it is in indirect continuity through G.I. Joe. Or at least the Joe issues starring Transformers are.

I don't know enough about Classics fiction to comment.

Generation 2. I don't see how this is even a question.

It had Geoff Senior working on it.

G2 is the actual Marvel continuation of G1. Therefore that's what I vote for.

G2

RG1

"Classicsverse".

In roughly that order (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

[And "G2" is therefore your answer, for the same reason Draven gave. RG1 only gets *any* sort of a look in because the same guys are working on it - but since Furman also wrote G2, even that's not any sort of trump card. The Clubverse pretending Marvel UK doesn't exist, OTOH, is a COUNTER-trump card.]

I'm surprised people are now favoring G2 over Regeneration One after all the effort to get Regeneration One made.

If this topic were made after Regeneration One #100 has been released, we'll probably see a change in opinion.

To me, "definitive" doesn't mean 'first' but 'best'. Even though G2 came first, I doubt it will be able hold up against Regeneration One in quality.

Time will tell on this, of course, but this is largely my opinion, as well. I can't vote for Regeneration One yet, as I don't know if it will be any good (I have high hopes, of course). Classics was an enjoyable romp, but frankly there just isn't that much there for me to support it. (6 pages every two months just isn't very much, sorry) That pretty much leaves G2.

Perhaps it would be different if RG1 wasn't going to stupidly ignore the last twelve issues of the Marvel canon for no real reason.

Yes, I was wanting Regeneration One to take place after G2 #12, between G1 #80 and G2 #1 or during G2 (same way the U.K. comics happened during the U.S. comics).

But I kept being told that G2 was bad, that nobody should care about it and that Regeneration One would be limited if it incorporated G2 because of all the pointless deaths.

All things I disagreed with. G2 is part of the Marvel continuity too and Furman could still write a good story while acknowledging G2. But it became an alternate timeline from the end of #80. Classicsverse already ignored G2. If the hype for Regeneration One is real and Furman can pull off the stories he has been talking about and hinting at, its going to be great.

But there ARE reasons. You may disagree with them, but the widespread destruction on Earth, the loss of several characters, and the whole now-acknowleged existence of the Cybertronian Empire are all game-changers that Simon Furman thought it best to turn back the clock on.

They're pretty significant reasons, you're desire to include them in the new story notwithstanding.

Well gee, maybe he could have tried to TELL a story with a significantly changed game by USING those new elements, instead of wiping them out! I mean, are you seriously telling me that the idea of the Autobots and Decepticons at peace, working with humanity to rebuild, with the thread of a... third faction... hanging over their heads...

...jive. I'm describing Energon, aren't I? Withdrawn.
