In my opinion, the most impressive thing: multiple autographs by the Johns from They Might Be Giants.

Thanks! The certificate and postcard were both sent to me for the Instant Fan Club this year. I got them to sign the Don't Let's Start single at a NYC in-store around 2005.

Elsewhere I have a signed Gigantic DVD from another in-store around 2003, and Factory Showroom and Then CD booklets signed by Linnell from when I interviewed him for college radio in 1998.

ChessPieceFace, what are the visiting hours? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

What did you use for that Legends Goldbug head? I really like it.

If you saw it today, you wouldn't feel bad at all.

Why, I used Goldbug!

Like most good ideas, I stole it from someone else. I don't remember who made the discovery, but you can pop off the head of a G1 Goldbug, shave down the sides a bit, and glue it right on Legends Goldbug. The effect is indeed very nice, even when you don't do a very good job, which I didn't.

I like how Puzzler is just randomly tossed in on the G1 shelf, classic.

Here's something new: Animation production cels!

(IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/Collection/cels.jpg)

I've been a huge fan of classic animation (especially Warner Bros.) for decades, but I'd always thought owning real animation art would be out of my reach. In January, I discovered a guy at the Melrose Trading Post flea market who sells production cels from mostly 1970s-1990s cartoons for very reasonable prices. He inspired me to start checking eBay regularly for good deals. Between him and eBay, I've now started a very pleasing little collection, and I've spent relatively little money.

(IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/Collection/cel-bugs.jpg)
The first cel I bought from the flea market dude, for $40. It's Bugs Bunny from a 1970s Kool-Aid commercial for the Latin American market. The Kool-Aid packets are real wrappers, glued right on the cel! Someday I'll have a "real" Bugs Bunny cel (okay, probably still never from the 1940s-1950s, those cost thousands), but this is a fun stand-in.

(IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/Collection/cel-heman.jpg)
He threw in this dynamic He-Man cel with the Bugs. I added the printed background from someone's She-Ra DVD screenshot--it doesn't quite line up, obviously, but the colors are a good combination, and it's almost from the right show.

(IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/Collection/cel-ren.jpg)
I love this Ren cel, from "Big Baby Scam." What a great drawing! It makes me laugh just looking at the facial expression. On a later visit to the flea market, the guy sold me this and the next one together for $100.

(IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/Collection/cel-rocko.jpg)
"Laundry day is a very dangerous day." I don't think any other Rocko's Moden Life quote has popped into my head more, so this was perfect.

(IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/Collection/cel-tick.jpg)
The Tick vs. The Tick. eBay purchase, around $100. A little more than other Tick cels have gone for, but as soon as I saw this one, I knew it was the one for me. From an episode based on one of the original Edlund comics, bright, bold, exciting.

(IMG:http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/destinb/Collection/cel-daffy.jpg)
The gem: from "Duck Dodgers and the Return of the 24th and 1/2 Century," from a 1980 TV special. Hand-signed by the master, Chuck Jones. At under $300, this was expensive relative to the others, but a bargain compared to similar cels. Plus I happened to tell my parents I wanted to buy it, and they made it an early birthday present.

My next priority is a Simpsons cel, ideally from seasons 2-8, ideally Milhouse. I'd also love a Stimpy or even another Ren from "Space Madness," moar classic Warner Bros., and it'd be amazing to find something from a Tiny Toons TMBG music video.
