They are in their own wave. Hotspot is part of Kabaya Wave 5 (along with Deathsaurus and WFC Optimus) The other Protectobots are in the Gaia Guardian wave. Seems both waves were released simultaneously. -------------------- |

The plane as a shield in super-combined mode is a little forced, but other than that it's a nice combined mode. A shame we only get these cool takes on combiners in Kabaya figures. Obviously the resources to try these kinds of ideas aren't there for real toys, but you can't help but think how cool a Protectobots re-issue with two extra components would be.

I might have to get that Deathsaurus.
Defensor is an awesome idea, but I'm not sure I'm digging the final kit. -------------------- |

Defensor didn't get too much press in G1! After Superion came around, it seemed the Autobots forgot about him.
But I had Defensor, and he was awesome. -------------------- ![]() |

Also, WFC Optimus Prime and Deathsaurus. http://www.hk-tf.com/discuz/upload/viewthr...;extra=page%3D1 http://www.hk-tf.com/discuz/upload/viewthr...;extra=page%3D1 It looks like Deathsaurus himself comes with a "solid" outer chestplate for him to wear, and at the same time there is an entirely different-molded transforming Tigerbreast chestplate / animal partner packed in with one of the other figures that Deathy can wear too. So if you just buy Deathsaurus by his lonesome he'd at least look complete. How's the plastic and paint quality on these? Man, this is the first new "real" transforming Deathsaurus toy that people will care about (RIDMegs need not apply) in 20 years. It's enough to make you think there could ever be a chance for a reissue or update. I wish that were the case, bt interest hasn't been too great among the general Japanese public in late G1 reissues, historically speaking. -Hydra -------------------- |

I had been waffling on getting these, but finally decided to take the plunge after seeing pictures. I think hlj.com is the cheapest option? You end up getting way more than you need, but you can sell the extras on Ebay or whatever.

Deathsaurus looks wonderful, but is simply too complex for his size and construction method. Some of the plastic tolerances don't work quite right - the head doesn't really snap into place but just sits in the hole between his shoulders, and the dragon tail is too small to have sufficient torque to completely clip together, as its own hinge seems to work against it. It's also more of a partsformer than I had expected, even at this size: you have to take off the wings and the arms, and Eaglebreast must be disassembled in order to "wear" him. But damn, does it look good. -------------------- The TFWiki: when just five Infernos aren't enough. http://www.tfwiki.net

Apart from the pop-off head, I thought Deathsaurus was great. The parts-forming was pretty minor compared to the clusterhug that is WFC Optimus. And adding in the semi-transforming breast plates from the other sets made him really fun. Only other complaint is that the transforming Tiger Breaster's handle blocks Deathsaurus' head in robot mode a bit.
My Deathsaurus didn't have any plastic tolerance problems, but my WFC Prime stressed horribly at the back of the knees. WFC Prime was pretty awful overall. I got Hot Spot too, and he's awesome, even better than Deathsaurus--mostly transforms, with minor additional parts-forming. The combiner pieces being able to snap onto all modes is great too. I have Gaia Guardian too, but I've only assembled two bots so far: Blades and Streetwise. So far, looking awesome in all modes and combined as limbs for Hot Spot. And no parts-forming--total transformation for those two. 'Scramble Power' is intact. All arms can become limbs and vice versa. Highly recommend this set so far!
