You also have to factor in that there's going to be a massive rush from the hardcore fans right at the beginning, and those figures aren't likely to be consistent throughout the sale.

This is a very important disclaimer. There's definitely a declining curve involved.

That said, the difficulties of getting through, coupled with the break between yesterday's order period and whenever things open up again (today?), make it harder than usual to predict what will happen this time around.

I don't disagree, but I'm talking less about "will there be a surge?" or even "will there be more glitches?" and more about "will this toy sell out in a timeframe comparable to G2 Ramjet?"

I am right there with you. I think even with this 1/2 day shutdown If they bring back the pre-order within the next hour Runabout I think has a shot a selling out before the 24 hour period. I hope it doesn't cause I still need mine. If they can keep the sales flowing without a crash we will have a declining curve but with this I think it only increases the paranoia so. we have to wait and see. Wish me luck

So. They're getting a new CC company.

Orders may hopefully be back up Wed.

I know it got lost in the mix here but seriously, how hard would it be to use Kickstarter for next year? Put it out there and let people "preorder" before production starts. Then, if they get enough preorders they could even conceivably lower the price or include some extras they didn't know they'd have the money for. If you want to buy a dozen, pay for a dozen and you're not taking orders away from those of us who just want one for our collection.

"Donate" X amount if you're a club member (include member number or something in the comments), and donate X+15% or whatever for non-club members. At this point they have an established enough track record that I'd trust the process and you'd actually have the added layer of security going through Paypal if you wanted.

That is not a good idea. Let me tell you why.

First of all, FP shouldn't have to. The only thing wrong with their current setup is that it's antiquated. Kickstarter is for folks who otherwise have trouble raising money. That's not FP's problem. The problem is their website.

Second, just like Paypal, Kickstarter takes a sizeable portion. And then what's left gets sent into Amazon, and from there hopefully into your bank. This process takes a while. We're talking about adding another few months into the process. And then at the end of the year, you get taxed on the amount you raise as separate income. It's not a pretty process.

It's just really inelegant. It'd be many times worse than what we have to deal with now.

It's a good option for a guy like me who has to do this once a year and doesn't have the means to do it otherwise. FP does have the means. They have a staff. They have a very popular license. (They also have a license for G.I. Joe, har har.) If I could do things the way they do them, I'd do them that way.

But, you know, on better software.

Gotcha. Thanks!

It just seems like there might be a way to get the best of both worlds where they could have real-world numbers for production (plus some extras) and eliminate much of the "day of" sale issues. This could also help those who need to set aside a bit at a time as the preorder window could be open for a month or so.

As much as I loathe something like Mattycollector's subscriptions, I would happily have given the Club the money for Over-Runabout after the first photoshops were out and they could just ship him when he's ready. Unlike Matty though I don't want to have to buy everything just to ensure I get what I want. Maybe that's an unrealistic desire on my part.

That's... exactly what we're doing here, though? I mean the reason Matty does that is so they have a guaranteed baseline of how many of each figure to make. Fun Pub has already determined their production runs fairly decently, and they don't have as many figures to juggle.

So does Drift have either the big gun or the big sword, or does he only come with the smaller guns and swords?

He's also shown as storing the swords, so I believe (despite owning 4 versions of that mold - both Drifts and both Blurrs) he can't store his little guns in their holsters as Drift's holsters are made for the swords only (they tooling is different from Drift to Blurr).

Just as well. My Blurr's guns don't really stay in the holsters; they easily slide out. That, combined with the fact that I'm going to display him holding his guns anyway, makes this a non-issue for me.
