QUOTE Someone named EVN tipped me off in email about some upcoming McDonalds, so I called the them up to confirm it. Apparently another wave of ponies is planned for March 9th (though she told me not to quote her on that exact date), along with Transformers on the boys side. They don't know specifically what characters/designs will be available, but she did say they usually try to release new sets, so hopefully something awesome pops up. I was also told that this is going to be a huge promotion, and they expect to sell out of them pretty quickly. I guess our rabid collecting last time around tipped them off? We didn't have much access to blind bags back then, so these and the five piece molded set were the only show accurate stuff we could get our hands on (Even if McDonalds toys aren't really known for their quality). It sure was funny trying to sneak into McDonalds incognito style only to be called out as the third guy to come looking for ponies for his "Niece" or "Sister". I'm sure it will be twice as funny this time around. -------------------- |

I remember when my wife and I went hounding for McPonies. My wife tried to do the whole "what would our kid want, the yellow one or the pink one" but I cut her off right away, "DUDE THESE ARE FOR ME. HELLO, CASHIER. THESE ARE FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE."

You know, this is good for us. You go in, you ask for one boys toy, one girls toy. It actually comes across less weird (at least in my head). Uh.

Well let's hope for transformable toys unlike the movie-based ones that just had gimmick arms.

I don't think I'll need the ponies, and we haven't had awesome fast food TFs since Beast Wars/Machines.

Drive-thru. They just assume you're getting it for your kid, and happy meals are lower calorie options.

One of my brothers usually comes up with his wife and kids for Spring Break.
I could hypothetically go into one of the local Wal-Marts and ask for all the MLP and TF Happy Meals I want and have a perfect excuse. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-op.gif) -------------------- Lexicon: still up and running!

I wonder what the TF stuff will look like?
Probably will pick up the ponies though, hopefully they'll be show accurate. With proper colors and Applejack's hat. This post has been edited by Cabooceratops: Jan 26 2012, 01:35 AM -------------------- QUOTE I'm bad at puns and not much good at anything else! |

The only Pony I got last time around was Fluttershy. I may try to get one or two more, or if I can, round out the mane six.
Also, Transformers? -------------------- Hey, check out one of my sites!

Guys. Be men. Don't fabricate stories or excuses about why you're buying ponies. Just buy the damn ponies. Be men. Seriously. When frickin' Walky is telling you how to man up, you know you're a sad case. What are you guys, thirteen? You're seriously embarassed by what some idiot at McDonalds will think of you if you buy MLP toys? --Andrew S. (I thoroughly approve of Walky's earlier anecdote about overriding his wife and exclaiming that the toys are for him.) -------------------- |

I can't say I understand the need for the MLP toys. I'm already enough of a misfit buying little boy's toys, plus I truly don't desire small plastic rainbow horses. I'm sure it's a great show, but still. Now, maybe if they [i]transformed[i]...
Also, I support the sentiment for wanting actual transforming happy meal toys. The Animated ones were particularly great since they came with those $5 off coupons...maybe they'll do that again. -------------------- |

we haven't had awesome fast food TFs since Beast Wars/Machines. To digress from the "pony shame" for a moment. None of the Happy Meal/Fast Food promos have been nearly as good as the very first McDonalds Beast Wars set that gave us actual New Original Characters with actually pretty neat minibot-type tfing toys. Loved those SO much that every promo since has been a let down. The only runner up in coolness was Beast Machines which at least provided a resonably in scale Nightscream (how sad is it that he easily trumps the giant ultra one in my collection) and lots of inexpensive (though tiny) on model Vehicon drones. I'm not sure what these could do that would be equally cool but I doubt they'll do it. ...I'm so bitter and dissolusioned about fast food freebies now... -ZacWilliam, it was the Unicron Trilogy era that did it. It's a honest to Primus crime we never got a set of 30 collectible simplified minicons with actual Minicon ports. I can envision the five molds in three colors each so PERFECTLY IN MY MIND (help me!) They should just mix them together and give us ponies that transform into Prime characters
