The start? I thought we were already on that trend. Well, to be precise, it's everyone-is-Optimus-Prime-or-Bumblebee.

Well everyone was leader-1 for awhile, so it is Optimus's turn.

I'm getting a lot of red flags here. If Walky likes it, I’m not. If someone says it “looks fun,” I won’t be having it. I’ve found those are both code for “this is for very little kids.”

RtS Jazz is for little kids?

Toys that look fun! Oh noes! Next you'll be suggesting we take them out of the package and transform them! Or fire their little missiles while making "pew pew" noises!

(I miss me some spring-loaded missiles.)

I'm not seeing Optimus Maximus as Optimus Prime, I'm seeing Nexus Maximus (The Transformer, not the adult toy... okay BOTH Nexus Maximus' are toys for adults, NEVER MIND).

I'm a little saddened by the idea that WFC/Generations Grimlock may be a Deluxe. He needs to be a Voyager minimum.

A nice Deluxe Grimlock would be the one bright spot for me if the next iteration of Generations is all-Fall all the time. I never liked the Classics Deluxe, and I don't need another large one since I have the MP version.

I'd definitely prefer a voyager, since that would make him appropriately larger than the average Autobot, but not necessarily huge or anything. Unfortunately, we don't get a lot of voyagers lately, outside of the movie and cartoon lines. I really love the extra room it gives them to play around and do bigger guys justice when both the deluxe and voyager sizes are being used regularly.

But unless I'm mistaken, we still have no indication that Generations is going to expand into other size classes?

What I don't like about the huge base thingy being an Optimus is that the age of other huge characters is over. Those citybots we already have are all there is. No future ones!

-ZacWilliam, anyway, my Downeaster Metroplex aside, I morn with you. There was a time where really big toys could be new really big characters. Then there was a time where they would be the leaders, but the leaders didn't have to be Prime or Megatron. Now those days might be gone, I hope not for good...

You know, I'm not a fan of Optimus Prime to begin with. I don't like the character and I usually don't like the toys. This had everything going against it for me, but damned if that image doesn't actually peak my interest significantly. Need more images, but I like what I see so far.

You don't actually know what that means, do you.

You're right, this is more a case of "Market researched to all hell".

I'm pretty sure everything is market researched to all hell.

What I assume you mean is that Hasbro, entering into new territory (the last guy who specifically turned into a base/playset as his primary altmode in stateside release was Fortress Maximus*, unless you want to count Arachid and Orcanoch) has coupled this baseformer to a popular character to minimize the risk. If you're surprised then I'm not sure what to say.

Hey, there's an idea; they could have made this baseformer a giant character that's "coupled to" a popular one (maybe Optimus Prime could turn into Fortress Maximus's head, or something like that), instead of being a giant version of Optimus Prime. (Assuming that's what this is: it could also be a giant mecha piloted by a normal-sized Optimus Prime.)

OKay, so they say there are 8 (deluxe) Generations toys, 1 is WFC Jazz. So who would you want to see in the other 7 Deluxe molds?

I'd like to see:

2. WFC Starscream (in the future we can see many Seeker repaints)
3. WFC Ironhide (in the future can be repainted as Ratchet)
4. WFC Shockwave
5. Classic/WFC Arcee (a pink car!)
6. Classic Cosmos
7. Classic Gears (why not?)
8. Classic Blitzwing

I'd be rather happy with that line up actually, except Gears but I can't think of anyone to replace him at the moment, so like you said why not.

Maybe an Insecticon, and the top on my list is Shockwave, he really should get a new toy and hopefully DotM will help that.
