I was thinking that I would like to have a Krok to go with Bludgeon... I don't see Hasbro doing one, and it's not out of the question for FunPub but I don't usually get their stuff (too expensive IMO). So my question to all of you is, what mass-release mold (Classics style or maybe movie, depending) would be a good base for a custom of him? It doesn't really help that as an Action Master, he didn't have a true alt mode.

My current favorite for Krok is Terradive/Space Case.

For some reason I always thought Krok was a boat. I have no evidence why, my 10 year old brain at the time must have associated Krok with Croc(odile) and thought water based vehicle.

Doesn't have to be slavish to the G1 design, just something that will work generally. Though I do have several spare Scourges.. but optimally they are Sweeps.
Terradive isn't a bad idea, he's already off the shelves though and I do not have a spare. I guess something else that might be nice would be a mold that doesn't already have two or more official releases (like Terradive/Space Case or say Thunderwing/Skyshadow) but that's more minor of a concern. |

Cybertron Sideways? (Or maybe the Ratbat recolor?)

Randy Maybe Thunderblast, would fit that interpretation? Of course, I don't know how you'd go about making her look like Krok. Of course, considering she's mostly a shell former, I wonder if it might be possible to swap out everything save her legs. IIRC, Cybertronian attempted to identify all the Action Master alt modes, and Krok was "some form of UFO".
I think Mindwipe kind of lines up on the chest, but the limbs are pretty off (not to mention needing a new head). I like the idea of Cybertron Sideways. Again, needs a new head, but would look pretty cool and give a semblance of the cockpit chest. |

I think the cockpit pretty much cements him as a a stealth bomber, with the "wings" on the arms being simplified/shortened to fit the Actionmaster look. But I can see where someone looking at those arms/wings while comparing them to Gobots Pathfinder would get "UFO". -------------------- |

That basic ROTF Naval Boat would make a somewhat okay Krok or Crosscut. In robot mode at the very least.

I think there's some potential here. It's no stealth bomber, but a lot of the shapes line up nicely. |

Eh, if you want to go the big and bulky route, then there's always United Lugnut. He's mostly the correct colors to begin with (well, he need a bunch of black, but the purple bits seem to be in great spots. Some silver & red applied to his chest), he'd just need a new head & hands.
And he'd be a bomber too, so there's a step in the right direction. This post has been edited by Kevin S: Jan 9 2012, 06:31 PM -------------------- My FlickR folder...

Hmm.. I wonder if Cybertron Scrapmetal would be a viable mold? Yeah, not a jet, but I do note similarities in some design elements.

Hmm well I do have a spare Cyb Sideways... that's a possibility. I never did even see Legends Cosmos at retail and am not interested in aftermarket prices if I can avoid it. RotF Mindwipe/HftD Strafe is a possibility (with a new head). I might see if I can scare one up at a local TJ/Marshalls. I might also be willing to do a custom like my "classics style" Cosmos that I used a spare, incomplete Cybertron Evac for (visible here http://i714.photobucket.com/albums/ww146/g...le/IMG_1908.jpg not embedding so as to keep the thread shorter). I don't have another Evac though.
Appreciate the ideas, keep 'em coming! |

If you want a Stealth Bomber, what about one of the version of G2 Dreadwing?

RotF Voyager Mindwipe (or Strafe, maybe)? He's a stealth bomber, and with a less spikey head, he might fit in with Classics figures. At least as well as Bludgeon does.

HftD Highbrow would make a pretty convincing Krok. FWIW, I think Krok actually turned into a Cobra Night Raven, when he could still transform, but the closest thing you'll get to that is Energon Storm Jet... not many people's favorite figure.

This is actually something that I've thought a lot about due to the fact that Krok happens to be one of my favorite Decepticons. When I was a kid, for whatever reason I always thought that Krok's alt mode would be a hovercraft, but the only two relatively recent figures which fit that bill are RtS Seaspray and Cybertron Shortround, neither of whom have robot modes that seem particularly appropriate, in my opinion.
In the end, I eventually decided that Energon Sharkticon works best for what I would personally envision a transforming version of Krok to look like. In robot mode, he's got similar proportions to those of an Action Master, and he even has a few visual cues that are reminiscent of Krok, such as his forearms and knees. Sharkticon would work even better if he had vertical spikes of sorts on his shoulders and less of a prominent point coming out of the forehead portion of his helmet, but no non-original mold will be perfect. He lacks the hovercraft alt mode that I pegged him for having as a child, but he at least transforms into an aquatic vehicle, which would seem appropriate for Krok considering his name and that of his companion, Gatoraider. I've been meaning to do a digibash of this idea for a couple of years now, but I've never gotten around to it. Maybe I will one of these days. -------------------- |
