Over at the TCC boards, an RID fan said he won't be in the Club next year. Pete replied with...

Dare I dream? An RID set for 2013?! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-silverbolt.gif)

I can't imagine an RID set without Side Burn or Sky-Byte, and those dudes are done.

Hmm. I wouldn't really want a rid set, but I can see it being somewhat popular.

Well, they can use the Skybyte and Sideburn Timelines toys as their RiD selves in the 2012 comic, but add supporting characters. I could see a box set with X-Brawn (Universe Ironhide or RTS Fallback), Scourge (G2 Laser Prime Deluxe), Ro-Tor (Deluxe Tomahawk) and maybe some others.

Nonononononononononono. I still have to get the Beast Wars set. I don't want another one.

Although I'm amused at the idea that they might put a version of RID into the American G1 cartoon universe.

Well that Jetstorm guy might be RID Jhiaxus, but it's in the G1 Universe so no telling if he's RID Jhiaxus or someone else (or RID Jhiaxus repurposed to G1/G2 Jhiaxus).

I wonder what molds they'd use as RID Prowl/Mach Alert and X-Brawn/Wildride (boy the Car Robots names are so much better than the RID ones)?

Well, they could.

Obviously the centerpiece of any Robots in Disguise Botcon set would be a model JNR Class D51 locomotive as "Grandpa."

See, I'd want the Predacons to go with Sky Byte, but the best choices are Revenge of the Fallen Scouts Skystalker, Depth Charge and Knock Out, and no way is Fun Pub going to use Scouts.

I really hope Hasbro does a retail Nemesis Prime toy before then. I will weep if my only choice is to spend half a hundred bucks.

Weird thought, slightly on-topic: could Sky-Byte from G2: Redux be an extra-dimensional plant from the Underbase just like Side Burn from Shattered Glass? The invasion of Underbase warriors hinted at in TransHuman could create a BotCon crossover event between the Wings and SG universes, and an excuse for more RiD themed repaints.

I would love to see a RID themed Botcon. We already have a Sky-byte Megatron (Deathsarus) Sideburn is here and many others have thrown around X-brawn from Classics Ironhide and Prowl from Red alert I know somebody mentioned Scourge from G2 prime. Darkscream from FunPub club exclusive Airazor (new head oviously) Im still working on the other three souvenirs slapper, Gas skunk and Brutter (Bruticus)

What I wanna see is a box set consisting of Energon Constructicon Maximus repainted and new heads into the Build team.

Steamhammer: Wedge
Sledge: Grimlock
Bonecrusher: Heavyload
Dustorm: Hightower
and the new recruit Wideload: Xloader

Xloader is a recent parolee from a short sentence of community service. He was caught building unapproved upgrades for his freinds booster packs using powerful but unstable materials. One of his prototypes had a little too much juice and lets just say Cybertron has few new dents. So fresh out of fixing his mistake he has been given an oportunity to help increase the build teams powerful potenial

Souvenirs

#1: Prowl and Xbrawn

#2: Scourge and Darkscream

#3: Gasskunk and Slapper

Free antendee fig: Brutter predicon dog (bruticus)

"A Flash Forward" is set in the G2: Redux era, isn't it? In which case Sky-Byte will presumably be appearing in the magazine comic?

Could easily do PCC Steamhammer as Wedge. Throw in drones and Sledge as Grimlock and you sort of have a sizeable "Build Team". But I can imagine that might eat up more set budget than anyone really wants so...

I don't know why you would think this. The characters who've turned out to be Underbase dudes have all been specifically called out in-story as being "off" in one way or another. That's not true of Sky-Byte; in fact, he plays a little better with G1 cartoon precedent than most of the other "new guys" in G2R, given that Quintessons making evil Transformers who call themselves Predacons was already a thing that happened.

Or this. Out of three known Underbase characters, only one of them is RID-related. Post-G1-related, yeah, but not RID in particular.

They should give us a rid box set of all the characters Hasbro tossed in for the NA version... Bruticus, Cryotek, the flip changer jets, BM basic 3 pack repaints. etc

interesting... brainstorming on this was taxing, since most of the major players are either too obvious (Scourge from RTS G2 Prime), too similar to stuff that's already been released (Dreadwind/Smokejumper), or have already been done (SideBurn). Overall, the SpyChangers would be an easy option for con exclusives and freebies. Universe SIdeswide/Sunstreaker would be good molds for them, but there's also the Jazz, Mirage, and Drift molds that could be used for variety.

As mignash mentioned, RTS Fallback mold as X-Brawn would be the better choice, mainly cause the Universe Ironhide mold is pretty lousy.

To be more random and use non-show, but RiD toy characters, Terradive as Nightcruz could be cool, and if the mold would be available, Thunderwing as Jhiaxus would work.
