Most of them look pretty good. Except Long Haul, who looks horrific. He's pretty disappointing.

Again, I don't fully understand the mix of aesthetics here. Giant, "Hook" and "Mixmaster" are extremely G1 in their design aesthetic. The other four take quite a few liberties. "Scavenger" and "Bonecrusher" don't even have recognizable head sculpts (well, Bonecrusher sorta has his cartoon face, but without the trademark Constructicon flat-top helmet, it just winds up looking generic).

TFC's version has a much more consistent aesthetic mix, in that regard.

That aside, they're still really neat looking robot designs on their own, so I'd be tempted to grab the set on those merits. I do appreciate how these guys are a bit more "lively" ala Universe/Generations, as opposed to TFC's toys that look more Energon/Cybertron-era in their stiffness. Although I find the inverse is true with their combined forms. Hercules has a more solid look and "weight" to his shape, and good personality in his face sculpt.

I wonder about release dates, packing and names. What are they called? Will they come out before Hercules is finished? Will they be released in 2 packs?

Considering I was snagging this to placate my terrible idea that orange/yellow Constructicons should be a version of the Constructor Squad who have decided to defeat the original Constructicons by making their own Devastator, this is cool that they look sort of different

I suspect I'm the only one who has this idea in mind for the set, though

I recall reading that they would be sold in 2 three packs in yellow and then in a 6 pack in green. Total cost will be about $400, you don't save if you wait for green.

I much prefer these individual bots to the other guys. I just find the Hercules ones have ugly proportions.

Anyone else think Bonecrusher looks kinda like RiD Wedge?

The chest and helmet shape certainly evoke Wedge. Although his arms are legs are inverted, in terms of the alt-mode space they occupy.

Yeah, it feels like he was designed to try to be both. He's got Wedge's chest and helmet and Bonecrusher's limbs. Maybe preplanning for a future G1esque Build Team. Bonecrusher = Wedge, Scavenger = 'Grimlock', Long Haul = Heavy Load, Hook = High Tower, Mixmaster = Quick Mix, and Scrapper = Scoop.

This has the more accurate robots (those that are) and a VASTLY superior Devastator.

I'm getting this one...unless they do something stupid and inane like releasing it only in yellow or something.

This has been covered already it'll come out in two (2) three (3) packs in yellow first, then in a six (6) pack in green.

Look at the combined pic. You can see the crane attached to the shoulder AND hanging off the back. That's some pretty decent length, as well as having a point of articulation in there somewhere.

I wounder if it's being used to help hold the thing together...

It's not. There's a side-view pick from the Cherry Bomb toys show that shows the crane just hanging there.

If I can scratch out the cash for this set by the time the green release comes along, I'm definitely going for it. Devastator's combined mode looks great and I think the generator trailers as forearm kibble is really ingenious. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif)
