Personally what I thought was excellently done was Sweetie's expressions when Rarity turned down the invitation to the contest. She started out upset then was visibly fighting to not cry and keep face. Really sad but surprisingly believable.

Also, I did in fact (as trivial as it may be) question AJ's ability to hold her breath for the entire race. Let's just assume that she kept coming up for a quick breather when 'Bloom wasn't looking. I'm honestly a little disappointed by fans' reactions to the show lately. It flies in the face of the claim that adults can be perfectly mature and functional while being fans of kids' cartoons when we see these embittered arguments and rage about the contraction of little bits of trivia that people just made up at random. Chill. He's not saying that he's going to protest the show, or write congress to complain. He's discussing a silly story point, which is the whole point of this thread. lol. I don't think Creature was referring to my comment with that statement, hence the spacing between the two. Edit: If I had to guess it is in reference to all this background pony nonsense with the names and relationships (Derpy and Dinky, Berry Punch and Ruby Pinch). Dear Princess Celestia, Having a sister can be a wonderful thing, but you need to be able to compromise. After all, not all of us can send an annoying little sister to the moon when she's bothering us. Fabulously yours, Rarity Heh. Yeah, when Rarity invoked Celestia as her witness I couldn't help thinking that Celestia might not be the best icon of sororal devotion. -------------------- ![]() |

I like how they pointed out that not all apples they grow go to market but the one's that are bruised they throw away. This might be common scene to the rest of us, but it might help clarify one of the aspects of farming to little kids about production waste. A lot of kid's show don't talk about this aspect of farming and it really makes it feel more realistic when they cover topics like this when they don't have too. They could of just as easy said the same thing about ripe apples as well but choose a different path.

Actually, they do one better (with caveat to be noted)--they use the apples to feed the pigs. This sort of waste is often turned into animal feed. I remember having a separate bin for food waste at summer camp which would go to local pig farmers.
The caveat is that since the pigs are likely as sentient as the cows and sheep, that they actually prefer the bruised apples. Taking the opposite position is much darker. Animal Farm all over again! Except the pigs will need a new slogan since the ponies still have four legs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) |

Nice episode. I know I'm horrified when I find my nephew in my room, checking through my toys. I'm worried he'll find the uh, mature, stash I have.
I love it how Rarity was controlling herself at the beginning. She was fighting to explode but then bottles it up in the beginning (which, I know, is wrong for your emotional state). It was great that she lasted so long. I kinda misted when she saw the diamond heart. And LOL are Why do you have to be so good, make me look bad? I liked Sweeties' scootching but I love Rarity's begging/approaching for forgiveness scene at the campfire at lot more. Very nice movement. Darn, I read a semi spoiler so I knew the twist, darn! AJ and Apple Bloom were great together. ONE DAY! LOL! Big Mac didn't get to talk this time :/ -------------------- Oink!

In other news, sheep are apparently second-class citizens.

Maybe sheep can't manipulate objects like ponies and buffalo can, so they depend on ponies to provide them with shelter. And, while intelligent enough to talk, they might be dumb enough to wander off and get lost if not penned in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) The cows were able to be scared into running blind. The sheep are likely prone to the same response.---Dave And as the one said, 'All you had to do was ask.' That implies they didn't have to be chased into the pen, nor be thumped by Apple Bloom. The pigs didn't show the same level of sentience. The girls rang the bell and opened the door, only to be met with vacant-eyes sows who plowed them down without hesitation. -------------------- |

Of course, for all we know, Equestrian sheep prefer to live in pens. All the animals are more intelligent than real equivalents, but the fact that many of them live in burrows and nests instead of houses implies that they like it that way. After all, given Angel's personality as part of the possible range of rabbit types, do you think any rabbit would live in a hole if he didn't want to?

We also have two variants of horse species, thanks to Twilight and the magic of genetic manipulation during The Best Night Ever.

To be fair, those weren't really horses. Those were morses. Or hice. Either way, probably nothing that's naturally occurring, and Twilight said that they had a time limit, so it's not like there will be more of them running around. Or is your point (realized as I wrote this) that she must have had a template to fashion the mutant mice after?

Man, I don't know. All I know is I keep wanting to bring up Equestrian genetics in my biology class, but always fall short. I get laughed at enough.

Twilight did call them horses... And they weren't any more sentient than Angel, if even as much.

I'm worried he'll find the uh, mature, stash I have. =D??? I guess he implied it straight enough :-p HIGHLIGHT to view: furry-clop material *Cough, cough* Actually it's just the regular kind of, uh, material. But definiately not the straight kind, lol! Is there a thread specific discussion on the ponies' genetics relating to if a unicorn/earth pony/pegasus marries a unicorn/earth pony/pegasus and what type of pony their offspring will be? If the Sisterhooves Social is a yearly thing, the timeline would show that Sweetie didn't meet up with Apple Bloom until after that year's Social and everything after that point would be within one year. Er, I'm assuming the prized pig contest is more like a beauty contest for the pigs and the ponies that pretty them up as opposed to seeing which is the fattest and plumpliest for the slaughter. What do the ponies get out of the pigs anyway? Chickens give eggs, sheep give wool, cows give milk. Pigs give social commentary? Disposes of bruised apples? -------------------- Oink!

As to the genetic probabilities and possibilities, I prefer to think of it the same way as it was mention on the Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie tumblr. -------------------- |
