The NFL season approaches. And with it, the profound hopes of millions of fans and the aspirations of some 1,700 athletes. Hopes and aspirations that were nearly sundered by the uncertainty of a labor dispute, until everybody woke the hug up and realized that they stood to lose buckets of money.

So, the continuity of the League is assured. And it's not without an intriguing set of storylines, in typical NFL fashion. Every team has its own to contribute as youth and regime changes invade the landscape and threaten balances. Will Peyton Manning miss games for the first time in his career? What does that mean for the rest of the teams within that division? The Philadelphia Eagles loaded up with talent in the offseason, as many free agents make their way to new teams. Can they possibly live up to what is expected of them? The precedent has been set, will the NCAA's wrath continue to extend beyond their reach? Will Arian Foster accommodate defenses even more by getting a tattoo of the exact spot on his leg for defenses to strike at? Will his own mama turn away in disgust, refusing to draft him for her fantasy team? Will my Bears beat down the returning champs so badly that Packer fans will break out the sweat pants and cry into a tub of whatever dairy product provides them the most comfort?

All of these things, we shall have answers for! Rejoice with me this weekend, my fellow nerds, enthusiasts, jocks, nerd/jock hybrids, and fantasy owners. Spell out your hopes and expectations, America's Game devours them all and creates tightly coiled, steaming piles of sports entertainment!

I'm pumped for this season. Probably gonna be one of the wildest ever. My team is the Bucs so I hope to see them do well.

The Patriots are poised for another dominate season and a deep playoff run, the Lions actually look like they might win 9 or 10 games, and the Niners, well they still suck as long as Alex Smith is the QB, but I still have hope they might win the West. All and all it looks like a fun season ahead. I predict the Lions and the Texans will (finally in the case of the Texans) make the playoffs.

Love isn't a committment, or a burden, or whatever you think it is... It's a feeling you have for someone. A feeling that words can never explain. Whenever you would put your life on the line to protect that person, that's love. Whenever you stay awake all night thinking about that person, that's love. When you're with that person, and the minutes seem like hours, that's love. It's never love when you have to think about it.

Lions are definitely poised to make noise this season. I'd say they probably have the best defensive line in the league.

Freeman is a quiet model of efficiency, they snuck up on a lot of people last year. I expect them to contend in a very tough division. They'll be in London against Chicago this year, I think? Should be entertaining.

It's a popular prediction every year, for the last several years, that this will be the year that the Lions get over the hump. I'd pump the brakes on that, though clearly they are improved. Consistency and the general health of the team would go a long way towards making that happen, though. The same is said about the Texans, who have as good a chance as they'll ever get with the Colts sans the heart of their organization.

Pretty stirring scenes all over NFL stadiums this morning.

I'm glad that the season is underway. Whoever thoughtlessly farted out the new kickoff rule is the father of all dumb ideas, though, and needs to go work for George Lucas.

I'm cautiously optimistic about late Monday night. 6-0 in the AFC West was nice last year, but my guys need to take the next step. I like Hue, and I love what he did to the offense once he took over last year. I just hope he's the right guy to be the HC.

If nothing else, it was nice to see the Steelers and Chiefs eat crap today.

Unbelievable 24 point comeback for the Lions. The broadcasters, analysts, and players all refer to Calvin Johnson as "Megatron" for good reason. Eight touchdowns in four games, the dude is monstrous. The story will be Romo pissing away victory, but the Lions seized every opportunity. I hesitate to use the word "rival", because the Bears/Lions have a rivalry like scissors have with hair, but it's difficult to not be a fan of these Lions in spite of them being in the same division.

The same week that a book attempting to smear Walter Payton's good name comes out, the Bears put up 34 points and Forte runs for over 200 yards.

Seems to be the days for comebacks.... except for the Steelers.

Lions came back, Chiefs came back, and the Jets are trying to come back.

You can strike the Jets of the come back list......

Although I think the Bills came back as well.

No the Bills did not come back either (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-screamer.gif)

So are the Lions going to the Super Bowl?

it's bad enough being a sports fan in baseball season when your teams base in KC. Why do the Chiefs have to stink this year too?

That's the problem; the Bills were never behind. I think that's the key to our game, trail at half time and lay waste in the second half.

Of course, having said that out loud, I'll be proven wrong this weekend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-wildride.gif)
