Two years in a row?! I really hope not (I do like Pasadena, but I don't think I could convince my girlfriend to go there a 3rd time in 4 years).

Heh, I'd be of two minds if it were Pasadena again. The part of me that wants a vacation versus the part that would save hundreds on plane tickets and a hotel.

Last night I dreamt that Botcon 2012 is going to be held in Cleveland, OH. I was very excited about being able to drive there again.

I've flown from NJ to Pasadena twice already, so range isn't a factor. Just make it easy to get to, with interesting things within walking distance.

I'd love it to be in Florida around August. Dream vacation for me. Star Wars Celebration ... AND Botcon. I could die a happy jawa. But that dream aside. Boston would be a nifty local. (And for the record that's about a 8 hour bus ride for me, so no it ain't next door)

The Pacific Northwest has never gotten any love, so how about it? Great booze and food, lots of things to do, friendly cities? Seattle would probably get more walk-ins then Portland, though Portland is a vey geek-friendly city. I could be wrong though, anyone know the PAX Prime attendance figures?

PAX has grown to about about 70,000+ as of this year. I can testify to it.

Going by past trends, Botcon'll be on the east coast this year.

The convention being in Pasadena also makes it much cheaper and easier to bring in the voice actors, which is apparently a draw.

Eh, voice actors aren't a draw for me. I mean they're cool but they in no way determine my wanting to go one way or another. The draw is Botcon itself, and would remain without s single VA.

Location however completely does, and west coast is terrible for that. It's simply too far.

-ZacWilliam, that's why it's best to move it around, so folks all over get a decent shot at going.

Last night, I dreamt that Botcon 2012's location was announced as "Pachyceph," Wyoming.

A lot of fans were cheering about it.

I wonder how many fans would end up not going, simply because they could neither spell nor pronounce Pachyceph and were therefore incapable of making travel arrangements.

Is Vegas off the table? Always seems like there's cheap airfare to Vegas.

The rumor I keep hearing go round and round is Chicago in 2012. May be hot air, but some of these rumors have credible origins....

Because there always is.

From what I understand, it's also supposed to be a very reasonable place to have a conference, cost-wise. The business model of the whole town is basically "get people here so they can lose their money to us by gambling," so everything else is generally very affordable.

I think the problem with Botcon there though would be that it's not exactly the most family-friendly place in the world. Also, the chances of getting a lot of walk-ins are going to be pretty low when there's not very many kids around, and for any adults there's a lot of other entertainment right nearby.

It'd be a great choice for fans, but probably less so for FunPub or Hasbro, IMO.

Going just by where traffic to this site comes from as a sampling.. most of our users seem to be in the northeast and east and southeast... with a chunk from Texas and a big chunk from California.

Much like it was 5-10 years ago.

Seems like Lexington, Cincinnati and Louisville are the most 'central' locations based on the sampling of Transformers fans from this site. I couldn't say what it might be overall but I don't see any reason why it would be all that different.

Actually I'd like it back in Lexington. I liked Kentucky.

Centrality notwithstanding, I think we discovered that the Cincinnati airport was among the most expensive in the nation when we were discussing it as a BotCon option a few years ago.

That's why I say Louisville.. not just because I live here but because it's, has its own large airport, is cheap.. has more stuff to do than Lexington and is central.

The downtown convention center could easily accommodate Botcon and there's lots of hotels. As well as 4th Street Live which is a lot of bars and eateries within walking distance.

If it's good enough for the Kentucky Derby, it's good enough for Botcon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif)
